Okay are we now just following her around monitoring her next non prefect action. Feels like the 00s again with this headline.

Yeah it doesn’t even state was she was drinking either, I drink NA beer at bars as someone in sobriety. While it’s different for everyone I have no issue going to bars or drinking venues when sober, seems like people are paying way too much attention to get life

I thought the article was implying the opposite -- that she's doing better now. She was at a professional afterparty, this is for work, it didn't say she was drinking anywhere.

pistolwhip_pete 14 hr ago +9
Sure, but entertainment reporting is never done because some seems to be doing better. Train wrecks sell.

TMZ helps perpetuate this culture. They pay good money for footage of celebrities.

I agree 100% that articles and photos like this are weird af. So much of ‘celebrity culture’ is just socially sanctioned and funded stalking. Para-social thinking is interesting, I think it stems from the deep part of our social brains that originally developed for living in small groups of a few dozen people. We used to know all the people we saw very well, often for basically our whole lives. We are definitely not adapted to live in these numbers with this type of technology. We still feel compelled to be deeply invested in these other people’s daily lives, even though it’s inappropriate and largely imaginary I hope over time we find a way to exist in this new-normal in a healthier way

I’ve been there. I hope she’s doing okay. Sometimes it’s almost like staying sober is a full time job in and of itself.

Sometimes? No. Every single moment for the rest of your life.

I can only speak for myself here, but I am 523 days in and some days it’s f****** sucks but other days I don’t even think about it

Hey, congratulations. I’m on month 8, not my first time but feels solid. Been dealing with bad depression and a less than ideal work situation lately, and it still hasn’t occurred to me to drink. That could change two minutes from now but I’m thankful for where I am. Hope you’re well.

eggflip1020 17 hr ago +6
Hang in there. I can tell from my personal experience it gets easier. This is the longest I’ve been sober since I was like 18.
6
eggflip1020 16 hr ago +5
Hang in there, you got this. Just a question, but have you discovered walking/running yet? I am by no means a gym rat fitness freak type, but towards the beginning of getting sober I got into walking/running, total game changer for me and my mood.

Weight lifting daytime. Piano playing nighttime. Both have been critical for me. The piano’s obviously my interest, but any hobby one can progress at I imagine would be helpful.

Fair I’m doing something similar.

Stay strong friend we are all with you.

ginsodabitters 18 hr ago +6
Congrats. I’m 335 myself. I agree I don’t think about it often but it can take something as simple as the sunshine to make me think about a patio to make me think about a beer to make me think about a … yeah. Anyways not trying to be negative just feels like people underestimate it sometimes. Even those trying to be sympathetic.

I can relate to these comments so much. Some days when it even does occur to me it’s a complete non issue, other days every second is a white knuckle struggle. Proud of you fam, keep at it.

bearsinbikinis 14 hr ago +5
Ehh it gets a lot better. I'm at 5 years and haven't really had cravings or compulsions in a couple years.

ginsodabitters 14 hr ago +1
Nice to hear. I guess I was being a little hyperbolic.

ConfederacyOfDunces_ 18 hr ago +3
It starts to get a little easier over time, but the first year or so is brutal. That’s the hard truth.
3
jcamp088 10 hr ago +2
Not for everyone. I've seen people make it their entire lives and worry more about meetings and church than going to work and taking care of responsibilities which leads to relapse.

^ This is why people don't like AA
2
ginsodabitters 15 hr ago +1
People don’t like AA because it’s religion based and kinda culty. Not sure what you mean though.
1
Remarkable-Eye-9182 13 hr ago +1
It's preachy.
1
eggflip1020 12 hr ago +4
It’s also bullshit. I hate the idea you need “god” to get sober. I would rather have help from doctors and therapists and shit like that which actually exist lol
4
ginsodabitters 13 hr ago +1
It’s my own personal frustration and experience. Go off tho.
1
Remarkable-Eye-9182 12 hr ago +1
I did assume you were one of them, so my apologies.

ginsodabitters 12 hr ago +1
It’s all good I was being a bit surly. We are all trying to accomplish the same goal. Peace and love.

For anyone struggling, recommend reading: 1. [Allen Carr’s Quit Drinking Without Willpower: Be a happy nondrinker](https://www.amazon.ca/Allen-Carrs-Drinking-Without-Willpower/dp/1784045411) “His skill is in removing the psychological dependence.” The Sunday Times “I know so many people who turned their lives around after reading Allen Carr’s books.” Sir Richard Branson Author does a good job of explaining how society has brainwashed us around drinking, addiction in general and why once you understand this not drinking requires no willpower (sounds crazy I know). He disagrees with the “struggle everyday”

I was really optimistic about this book because I’d read so many comments like yours and heard praise about it from so many celebrities that I admire but it just did absolutely nothing for me.
4
Routman 18 hr ago +2
What didn’t resonate?
2
samanthastoat 17 hr ago +2
I didn’t feel like I learned anything or discovered a new perspective or gained anything of any substance at all really. It’s like the book was trying to hypnotize me by repeating ‘oooh you don’t want to drink, you don’t like drinking, you definitely don’t want to do it’ and it’s like actually no, that exact problem is why I picked up this book lol

Routman 17 hr ago +2
I do think the author repeats certain concepts to try and wipe out societal brainwashing around alcohol. The concepts that resonate with me: *There’s a little monster inside our brains convincing us to have another drink (or cigarette, unhealthy food, etc), *The little monster is there to feed the big monster, which is the addiction. If you don’t listen to the little monster and starve the big monster, addiction dies *We are brainwashed to like alcohol and we view it as a rite of passage - have it as toasts at weddings, our 21st bday, all social events *The author repeats this a lot - alcohol does no good for a person. It took me a while to believe this and maybe didn’t believe it even when I finished the book. Then I thought about the fun I had as a kid and I never needed alcohol. There was an unlock that I can have fun and show all parts of me without alcohol. *after the unlock I realized what the author is saying, alcohol only creates withdrawals and no deposits Personally found the above a lot more empowering than the idea of being a victim and struggling everyday. Accepting alcohol as poison made me never want to have even a drop

locknarr 15 hr ago +2
I didn’t read that book myself but did watch a lot of videos on YouTube in the same vein, about reframing the way that you view alcohol. I watched a lot of videos about the health costs of alcohol, that it is essentially a poison, ultimately harmful, with zero upsides. What we think of as positives are really negatives in disguise. It doesn’t make you more enlightened, happy, funny, or social, it makes you dumber, louder, and oftentimes sadder. It causes most of the cancers, kills your liver… there’s no such thing as a safe or “healthy” dose of alcohol, despite the glass of wine a day propaganda alcohol companies like to sell as being good for you. What can’t be taught is the internalizing of this information so you don’t just know it as an abstract idea, but you understand it, so that in practice you no longer desire alcohol, you can see all the reasons for wanting alcohol in the moment for what they are: lies and propaganda… so they enter and exit your mind quickly, you don’t dwell in them anymore. These thoughts become less and less frequent, and over time you sort of just forget alcohol exists until you see it being consumed by others, or in ads. Then you just start to notice how it’s sorta everywhere to a disturbing degree… and that seemingly every celebrity has their own brand, and you maybe think that’s kinda messed up. The ads don’t work on you anymore though, you’ve taken off the booze-goggles, and see the ads for what they are. It needs to *click* for you, and unfortunately that’s not something that can be read/learned, it’s just something that happens, eventually. I do still have the “I Am Sober” app from when I really cared about tracking my progress, and it’s been 4 years, 3 months, and 23 days that I’ve been sober from alcohol. Importantly, I was 33, and had gotten my second DUI, so it’s not like all it took for me were a few YouTube videos. It took me making mistakes, and fortunately being the only one that had to pay for them. Not everyone gets out as unscathed, whether it be themselves or others. Nobody plans on it being them, but you’re not yourself on alcohol, you’re a very dumb version of yourself, prone to making dumb mistakes. It’s chemistry/biology, why put yourself (and potentially others) at such risk? What are the upsides, really?

Sobriety isn’t linear, I hope she knows how much she’s loved and how many people are rooting for her

She's got substance abuse issues. She's not a demon. Got high and kicked off a plane. Said stupid stuff afterwards. It's not like she murdered someone.

Thinking her P**** Face show was cancelled because of difficulties with her showing up to work and when she did, being able to work. She may have claimed fell off the wagon in January but suspect this has been going on longer.

Can we not stalk her relapse?

Nope, TMZ will report every outing she takes for the next 6 months

Weird how there is more people talking about how she needs help and freaking out over this, than there was for Timberlake and Woods drinking and driving. Lol

agree. timberlake is a menace, woods problem is not alcohol but still a menace

formerNPC 19 hr ago +9
Not an expert but I know people who got off drugs but still drink occasionally. They never had a problem with alcohol as far as overconsumption but I can’t say whether this is considered relapsing or not. Some celebrities have talked about drinking even though they went through rehab for drug addiction.
9
katikaboom 17 hr ago +6
She actually talked about quitting booze a few years ago because it was becoming a problem
6
formerNPC 17 hr ago +5
I’m sorry to hear that. What’s worse is that she’s in public and not caring if people see her relapsing. I hope she gets help.

I hung out with her once at a mutual friend’s wedding like 15/20 years ago. She was with her girlfriend completely hammered doing Macbeth by the pool after the reception. She was nice. Tiny little person with a huge personality.

The article doesn’t indicate she was drinking at the bar. I’m sober and I still go to bars, I just drink NA stuff when I’m there.

I don’t drink because of meds I’m on. Does that mean I should just stay at home and not have a social life?

Is it really necessary to give us daily updates on this woman’s private life like the goddamn Stasi

Aw. That's rough to see. I wish her the best. She's loved by a lot of people. It's a journey.

Read it, or don’t. If she’s struggling with addiction and in a bad place mentally, she likely wouldn’t be acting like that at a club. It seems like positive news? And honest reporting about a touchy subject?
3
slamdanceswithwolves 19 hr ago +1
Sorry, I deleted my comment because I guess it was not clear what I was trying to say. Everyone here is sending her thoughts and prayers based solely on the title of the post, but in the actual link, she has done nothing wrong or concerning. I think we are very much in agreement.

Oh ok my bad. I think it’s mostly due to a couple recent incidents but I hear where you’re coming from.
