It's weird that the Behind the Bastards on Phil Spector (Ronnie's husband, producer for several top bands of all time, murderer, and massive piece of shit) just came out a few weeks ago. Not too much on Nedra but lots about the Ronettes.
Baider-Meinhoff for me since I just started listening to it today.

Hey fellow BTB listener. Please, don't jump right into the Jimmy Saville episodes they just dropped. Do a book episode for something light to take a break, because it gets f****** DARK.

Rot in piss Jimmy. That was one of the worst episode series I’ve heard in a long time on BTB. Definitely needed a palate cleanser.

If you haven’t already, I’d highly recommend Margaret Killjoy’s Cool People Do Cool Things.

I had to stop after episode 3, and take a break. It’s probably going to be a long hiatus for me.
I’ve listened to a *lot* of BtB, and I’ve cried and raged at the depths the human race can sink to… but the Jimmy Savile episodes are the ones that broke me.

He was protected without doubt.
Johnny Rotten talked about him being a nonce and was immediately cancelled. It’s wild to see how people hold the BBC in such high regard when they absolutely enabled this shit just because he was a cash cow and more recently tried to cover Phillip Schofield for doing exactly what Kevin Spacey did.

Yeahhhhhh, I saw that one and passed. The Epstein files have been bad enough, and my soul doesn’t need any more flaying for a bit.
My husband listened to all of them. He’s not okay.

my partner and I were talking about producers earlier and we decided that we now rate them based on number of guns owned. bonus points for aiming at john lennon. leonard cohen optional.

Be My Baby is one of my favorite songs, but I’m unfamiliar with the rest of their work. Does anyone have any recs?

YES. “Baby, I Love You” “You Came, You Saw, You Conquered” “I Can Hear Music” “(The Best Part Of) Breaking Up”
Also really anything written by Ellie Greenwich is gonna be a banger of that era too.

Also three Christmas cover songs (I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, Sleigh Ride) on "A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector". Covers of classic Christmas Songs by various Phil Spector artists.

“A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Specter” is a freaking ominous title given everything that we know about him.

The Christmas album came out in 1963. Ironic that Phil died of Covid-19 (he was still in prison, but sent to an outside hospital to be intubated) in January 2021.

Ronnie has a cover of the Beach Boys "Don't worry baby" that's pretty good with the genders reversed. I think that's from about 2000 on a little ep with a ramone producing.
There's also "you mean so much to me" with Southside Johnny. 1977? I think that was when she first escaped or whatever, and before she did the big Eddie money features.

That’s so special because Brian Wilson was OBSESSED with Be my Baby! His daughter said he played the intro on drums every single morning

He terrorized many a party in the 70s by only playing that song. Or shortenin bread.

Their only studio album (Presenting The Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica) is amazing, and then they have a bunch of assorted non-album singles you can usually find on "best of" compilations.
Non album singles: >!Why Don't They Let Us Fall in Love, Born to Be Together, Is This What I Get for Loving You?, Paradise, Here I Sit, I Wish I Never Saw the Sunshine, Everything Under the Sun, I Can Hear Music, You Came You Saw You Conquered!<

In case anyone else is surprised by her being only 80 years old, she was first signed to Colpix Records in 1961 at age 15.
