From the article:
Neil Young is channeling his anger at the Trump administration into a new album as he revealed he is currently in the studio.
In an update shared to his *[Neil Young Archives](https://neilyoungarchives.com/news/1/article?id=A%20Message%20from%20Neil%203-9-26)*, he says he felt “so hurt for this country”, denouncing Donald Trump as “the worst president in the history of our country”.
“Politics today is sad and depressing for me. I can’t do it anymore. I can go out and demonstrate my feelings about it. We have the worst president in the history of our country. Every day a bad TV show produced by DJT is what we get,” he wrote.
Young is a longtime critic of Trump and wrote an editorial urging Americans to “rise up” in the wake of the January ICE shooting in Minnesota.
In a new op-ed on his website, the musician shared a post titled, “It’s ICE Cold Here in America”, in which he took aim at the growing civil unrest in the country, which he sees as a result of Trump’s “inept government” and lack of “conscience”.
“Wake up, people!” he wrote. “Today the USA is a disaster. Donald Trump is destroying America bit by bit with his staff of wannabes, people with no experience or talent, closet alcoholic wife beaters, inexperienced leaders who only know how to lie to keep favor with Trump’s falseness so they can hold their unearned positions in his inept government, a Congress full of Republicans acting like idiots with no conscience.

I hope he explores the fact that it’s not really Trump that’s the problem. Of course he’s utterly disgusting and a violent criminal, but he’s the product of a long-term project by monied special interests and foreign powers. The elites and corporations who back him have convinced a not insignificant minority of gullible or hateful voters that he’s the messiah and are using him to pave the way for an even darker future.

It's genuinely inspiring to see an artist with his platform still using his voice this way. The raw emotion he's channeling feels like a necessary counterbalance to the current political climate. We need more iconic voices cutting through the noise with something more substantial than a tweet. This is how protest music is supposed to work.

Funny how all these older musicians are coming out to speak their voices because the majority of younger artists refuse to express opinions on absolutely anything beyond buy my album or do this dance. There are exceptions but across all genres a lot of substance is missing in music as they don’t want to risk losing a single penny.

He has every right to choose his path in life as we all do. But since he is complaining about his adopted country’s f****** demented president, he should get the f*** out and come back to his roots.
1
Regency9877Mar 15, 2026
+1
The insinuation you’re making is that complaining about something means you must run away from it instead of fighting against it.
Many of the problems that led to the US reaching this point are being felt around the world. There are signs of it in Canada. Housing shortages, immigration, racism, political tensions…
The US has problems. What becomes of it from this point forward remains to be seen. But what’s happening in America can happen elsewhere, and it has before.
