Yeah I'm from a town near Nashville and a few years ago when I heard Nelly was doing a show in f****** Cookeville (shitty college town about an hour and a half from Nashville) instead of Nashville I knew he was done for lol. Tbf, in Country Grammar he has the line “Bill Gates, Donald Trump, let me hear ya”. It could be that it’s a a throwaway line that rhymes, it he’s always had a fascination with Trump and other rich guys that flaunt wealth. Of all the rappers that support Trump, Nelly is probably the one that surprises me the least.

I went to a Nelly concert a few years ago, and had no idea that he started doing country music. I don’t listen to country, so when I got there I had no idea who the people were who opened for him. I thought he was just going to play his old music, which he played about 4 songs. Then he switched to his new country stuff. I left at that point

Nelly “performed” at a venue I near a few years back and decided to go.. It was him & one other person on stage both just yelling approximately 30% of the lyrics the entire time. Not singing in tune. It was not a performance I’d expect from a major artist. Felt like a huge grift. Checks out.
