Doesn't Netanyahu have something better to do? Like win a war he started? Total loser attitude. What an embarrassment to Israel.

I heard Yair Golan interviewed this week (one of the more left leaning leaders in his opposition) stating he supports the war on Iran, and even more so against Hizbollah. He also praised the IDF as one would expect
So….yes hopefully bibis gone, but if people are holding their breath for less wars, or north Tel Aviv being given back to Palestinians. That’s probably not in the cards

Hezbollah and Hamas are both Iranian proxies and they (especially Hezbollah) do the exact bidding of Iran. This is a single war against Iran and their proxies; which has dragged Lebanon into another war that we didn’t want or need.

My heart goes out to all y'all in Lebanon who aren't with Hezbollah but get to bear the brunt of war because of them (on top of having the country sabotaged by a foreign power).

If you wanted to help, you would petition your government to help the Lebanese government take action against Hezbollah to once and for all destroy the parasite that is continuing to ruin Lebanon; and to take action against Iran for creating, funding and arming Hezbollah for 44 years.

>If you wanted to help, you would petition your government to help the Lebanese government take action against Hezbollah to once and for all destroy the parasite that is continuing to ruin Lebanon; and to take action against Iran for creating, funding and arming Hezbollah for 44 years.
I fully support that.
I'm a Ukrainian living in the US though, and currently trying to figure out what I can do to *remove* the current government or at least prevent it from grabbing power forever (*petitioning* it is pointless).
Meanwhile, *taking action against Iran* is somehow an unpopular idea among the American Left because their logic is "Trump bad, Trump attacks Iran, we love the Iranian regime!".
Not everyone is like that, but we have outright Hamas/Hezbollah/Ayatollah sympathizers normalized being a part of the Left.
(The Ukrainian government isn't in a position to help much, but to the extent that it can spare resources and personnel, I fully support Ukrainian military engagement in the Middle East against Iranian proxies).

It's a tactic that creates a "us vs. them" mentality. It hardens loyalty, makes people believe everything you say, and not believe anyone else. It unfortunately seems to work somewhat.

Somewhat? It works extremely well. Bibi has successfully divided the country cleanly in two and its exactly "us vs them" ie "right vs the left" ie "the good guys who love our country vs the evil people who are all foreign influenced and want our country to fail"

That’s the most defining question in history right there. Because for the most part we’re dumb credulous creatures innately primed for voting for and following the big strong man who talks tough confidently and eloquently and offers simple solutions to every problem.
That feels good and cozy to our brains, either because we don’t realize how complex things are or because we realize it’s above our comprehension but want to believe that the manichean promises and solutions that demagogues like him offer will work *this time*.

It’s because the same kind of people use morally questionable but promising tactics to manipulate, gaslight and grab power.
While decent politicians don’t have a chance with explaining the real deal because very few people read more than a headline.

These are classic abuse tactics too. The same tactics that occur in interpersonal situations but writ large.
Once a person leans the tactics abusers use, the pattern becomes clear one person or a group as large as a country, it’s the same.

Nothing says raising your own people’s morales like:
- signing tens of thousands of them to irregular and endless reserve duty without proper compensation, watching their businesses and personal lives collapse
- sneakily funneling hundreds of millions of dollars away from core education, medical and other assistive budgets over to a population that does not provide to the country at large in any way
- opening more fronts to the war while the number of people who can actively serve keeps decreasing
- signing laws that keep alienating the Arab population and enabling two tier policing
- alienating the opposition parties with statements like “deep state” and turning the left into a negative connotation
- refusing to rein in extremists on the right who keep stirring shit and committing actual literal illegal actions, for fears that it will collapse your government due to how fragile it is
- moving away from western, secular quality of life benefits just to appease the religious parties in hopes that, again, their complaints won’t collapse your government
- refusing to speak to media for weeks after opening new fronts in fears that opposition might be heard too early

Israelis generally support the war and the degree to which Israel supposedly is a pariah is highly overstated. For example, no EU country imposed any meaningful economic sanctions. At the same time, strategic ties with many countries in the EU and the US itself are strengthening

I know there are a lot of people who have basically written off Israel as an evil, irredeemable country, but getting rid of this wannabe fascist and starting to pull the country in a less warmongering direction IS possible.
We were able to enact denazification on Germany, Israel can be saved too.

I agree, but it would require more than just the liberalization of the country. It would require the decision to eschew a core component of Zionism, that the ultimate goal should be the biblical Israel, or at least pre-WW1 Palestine + Transjordan, and, relatedly, that any interim achievement should be used a stepping stone to that eventual goal.
