Important to note Israeli media and government are openly discussing annexation of Southern Lebanon up to the Litani River. Not just a temporary increase of buffer zone, like American media is saying.
81
Bodark43 Mar 29, 2026 +24
> up to the Litani River. Not just a temporary increase of buffer zone, like American media is saying. More like, "including the Litani River". Israel already is getting too much water from the Golan to ever give it back to Syria. Once they get the water from the Litani, they'll never return southern Lebanon either.
24
Equivalent_Range6291 Mar 29, 2026 +26
Yea, i dont fall for right wing propaganda i couldnt give a fcuk what fox news say. Theres a river further north than thee Litani & thats where the forced evacuees are now told to move to .. Just as genocide played out in front of our eyes, so to now is ethnic cleansing & we\`re expected to see the west as the goodies. The UN by the way is now chickenshit, once upon a time it had a little bit of authority, thats gone now after they wagged their finger at Israel, "naughty naughty.."
26
White_Immigrant Mar 29, 2026 +3
The rest of the world is paying for the USA and Israel to have their current "excursion". And the vast majority of lives are being lost in Iran and Lebanon.

Just a lil' Lebensraum.
72
Reyna_girlie Mar 29, 2026 +86
Nah thats after the next war when the 'security buffer zone' gets moved a few more kilometres north because what else are you supposed to do with that land? Give it *back??????*
86
Equivalent_Range6291 Mar 29, 2026 +69
Lets call it what it is, invasion occupation & ethnic cleansing.
69
alexefi Mar 29, 2026 +25
So you got security buffer zone. What would protect that zone? May be another security buffer zone to secure first zone?
25
DistanceToEmpty Mar 29, 2026 +7
Well the *illegal(wink)* settlers that Isreal is *totally powerless to stop(wink-wink)* will need protecting, so...
7
calmdownmyguy Mar 29, 2026 +13
It's buffers all the way down
13
superindianslug Mar 29, 2026 +6
We had a buffer zone, but then it just seemed a waste of good land. So we sent some farmers to work the land and some other people to support them and then, for some reason we found are civilians right on the border with a hostile nation. So be put a buffer zone between the two. But then it just seemed like a waste...
6
androk Mar 29, 2026 +29
We're going to take over part of another country and rule it, but this not a war of aggression. Trust me bro.

\+1 So far it seems my current reality does not have anything that meaningfully extends a person's maximum lifetime before dying from old age, and I am grateful for the failure. Because, I live in a reality (born too soon?) where some evils that some people do, seem to have no way to be stopped, except by their death from old age. Knowing they are old. Older than me. Knowing that in spite of their wealth or unbounded corruption, they cannot buy or bargain or con or blackmail their way to a longer life. Knowing they are closer to death every day... It's the thing that can provide hope: that evil people die. And when they die, hopefully less evil will be in the world. Less harm will be in the world.

Unfortunately it’s not a new term. When israel invaded southern Lebanon for the second time in 1982, and then later on withdrew to a region near the border they set up a “security zone” that lasted until the year 2000. Israel has been using the same terms for years now, it’s just the fact that western media didn’t used to mention much of Israel’s occupations in the past.

Calling this an expansion of a security buffer zone would be like calling Hamas' Oct 7th attack a pre-emptive defensive strike.

Netanyahu annexes more of his greater Israel, as he had long said he would, the title should say. Next on the list are parts of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq, and ultimately, Turkey and Egypt.

Is there some kind of interactive map (like Ukraine war maps), where you could live see where the border of Israel's right to exist is today?
116
JamesVirani Mar 29, 2026 +124
According to Israel? The map is from Nile to Euphrates, and maybe including parts of Antalya, depending on who has last spoken with the God who promised them all this and what they ate that day.

Where does anyone's justification for expansion and annexation ever come from? There's all kinds of archaic texts some will try to quote at you to "justify" it but at the end of the day they just make it up as they go, and they go for as long and far as they can get away with.

Will EU and US send weapons to Lebanon like they did to Ukraine? Will they vote some sanctions for IS? I won’t hold my breath with these hypocrites
180
mgzkk1210 Mar 29, 2026 +71
France will send another sternly worded letter, Spain will condemn the action, Germany will act like nothing has happened, and the US will continue happily providing weapons and funds to Israel. So in short nothing will happen.
71
pgtl_10 Mar 29, 2026 +38
No, it will be the Arabs faults for not reacting nonviolently. It's the same playbook they use against Palestinians. Focus on the reaction of the victim while ignoring the perpetrator.

The rich Arabs are already letting the US attack iran from their countries, the other arab countries are too poor to even defend themselves.

We aren’t anymore. We never knew about it because of the propaganda and US media being bought out by Israel. More of us are waking up to it
30
LaunchTransient Mar 29, 2026 +11
"We aren't anymore" meanwhile "Another ten billion dollars to Israel!" Meanwhile Netanyahu has the US military taking the punches from Iran while he gets on with his lebensraum project. It's not a very convincing "Americans aren't OK with this" when 17,000 troops are on their way to fight Israel's war for it, and Congress is sitting on its thumbs. If this was France, the National Assembly would be in flames right now.
11
Material_Ad_554 Mar 29, 2026 +10
Those days are numbered. The majority of the US population officially views the Israeli government more unfavorably than favorably. More Americans now sympathize with Palestinians than with Israelis. This is unprecedented. The mainstream media owned by zionists is losing more and more viewership. Their propaganda machine is slowly ending. Now both left, independent, and right are refusing to vote for members of congress that take AIPAC money. Being a democracy, it will take time to unseat, but as we just last weeek saw in trumps *own mar a lago district*, the seats are flipping. It will take a minimum of another year for congressional overhaul, and two more for executive branch overhaul. It’s a very, very slow process in the US where the politicians significantly lag behind the political beliefs of the population.
10
LaunchTransient Mar 29, 2026 +4
Your optimism notwithstanding, I'm afraid I am a lot more sceptical. I watched with horror in 2024 when the American public lost its collective mind and *voted for a second term* for Donald Trump with a *majority vote*. Any faith I had in the American public vanished that evening. TL:DR - I'll believe it when I see it, and even then it'll take a while on the straight and narrow before I believe the US electorate has learned anything.
4
Material_Ad_554 Mar 29, 2026 +2
You have every right to be skeptical. But what some democrats, like Mamdani, and some independents, are doing is going to districts where Trump won and found out *why.* The answer was inflation, cost of living, and immigration. Trump is a snake oil salesman and convinced enough of the population he will fix those things. Europe is a great example of how to actually handle those issues. Trump has no expertise in anything really, he just has the gift of gab. But I think this was the jolt the population needed. The democrats have finally cut out the identity politics intraparty war that lost them the presidency, local elections, senate, and house. They miscalculated the American population’s primary concerns. Yes the majority are for gay rights, racial rights, etc, but that cannot be the only thing you come to the table with, and that cannot be used as a way to divide people.
2
SenorPinchy Mar 29, 2026 +9
Too many are. But also democracy doesn't exist in America. Approval could be 20%. Wouldn't matter.

Feels eerily similar to "They hate us because of our freedom" America spewed to justify "turning the middle east into glass." After endless decades of being the terrors in the middle east, America and Israel still want to play the victim.
7
DrBuckMulligan Mar 30, 2026 +2
Whenever I hear that line, I think about the David Foster Wallace interview where he says “people hate people, not freedom.”

This title is why I hate the cowardice of the media. Israel has violated the sovereignty of another country by occupying it's territory and bombing and killing it's people. That's not "expanding the security buffer zone." That's occupation. A security buffer zone sounds innocuous compared to the reality, and the media shouldn't be downplaying foreign invasion by a fascistic state in such a way.

USA started a war against Iran. Israel is engaging in a ground invasion of Lebanon. The media is complicit in these nations manipulation of the masses when they adopt their spin-marketing-speak. I don't give a flying f*** if Trump or Netanyahu held up a sword and called it a pen, the media better do it's damn job and say that it's a sword if they see that it's a sword.
2
Ziazan Mar 29, 2026 +2
mhm. Just gonna keep expanding that "security buffer zone", permanently. Just keep on occupying more and more territory, permanently, and then claiming it as yours. No it's not an invasion of another country we're just expanding the security buffer zone into another country. It's for security.

The UN is actually the body that defined this buffer zone to begin with in Resolution 1701, about 2 years ago. https://news.un.org/en/story/2024/10/1155221 That resolution says that Lebanon was supposed to disarm Hezbollah and remove them from the zone between the Israel border and the Litani River, which they did not do.
