Lol, send him behind bars.

Wouldn’t that be the ultimate justice.  Behind bars till he passes !  One can dream
818
Uncertn_Laaife 3 days ago +365
Poetic justice would be that he be tried in the ICJ and sent to be jailed in exile somewhere the sun doesn’t shine. The amount of people he instrumented in killing for just to stroke his ego and to remain in power needs to be answerable to the whole world, including his own people. An innocent family going by their day in Tel Aviv blasted and killed by rockets from the countries he attacked is on him 100%.

Same with Trump. So many people want…other things…to happen to him. But, my dream is to see him finally get the legal punishment he deserves. I’d like to see him w/o the fake tan and fake hair, withering away in a cell like he deserves. Sounds pretty “TDS” of me, but it’s what the guy deserves.

The ceasefire was announced Wednesday The state of emergency was lifted And Netanyahu is still citing "ongoing security situation" to postpone testimony that was set for Sunday The war ended ,the excuse didn't

>And Netanyahu is still citing "ongoing security situation" To be fair, there is an ongoing security situation ... it's him.
647
rabidstoat 3 days ago +172
Both Israel and the US have given way too much "special rules when in state emergency" powers to their leaders, when those leaders are the very ones who can start and/or claim these states of emergency.
172
KaliUK 3 days ago +67
Rome had this problem with generals, hence rubicon. Back then you actually had to fight with swords and not pushing buttons to fire a missed, so those who gained that power usually used it responsibly believe it or not. Then came a man named Caesar who did the same thing and consolidated power, and we all know how that story ends.

it's sad that two countries are now in a state of unnecessary war to distract from their leader's crimes.

67
TotalNonsense0 3 days ago +52
He seems more articulate than Trump, although this is a low bar.
52
No-Opposite-6620 3 days ago +24
They're both still authoritarian egotists. Putin is more articulate than Trump in a couple more languages, but he's still a headcase and a terrible leader. And they all flagrantly use methods of distraction and subvert law. Have idealisations about their respective countries that do not touch facts. And there's more.
24
adamgerd 3 days ago +9
Could add others to the list of leaders who want to become dictators and are on the path to it or have already succeeded Orban, Erdogan, Fico, Babis, Lukashenko, Vucic, Farage
9
m0llusk 2 days ago +10
They are different phenomena. Bibi gets his power from a populace that has been traumatized by Hamas and Hezbolla and their ongoing rocket and bus bomb attacks. Trump gets his power from rural Americans who feel the dominance of white nationalist evangelical religion slipping away and making them think they are being replaced. This is important because legal complications and unpopularity is already dissolving Trump's power from within, but the Israeli population is so committed to stomping opponents with violence that they just effectively deported a journalist and writer for communicating honestly about the situation.

13
Wanna_make_cash 3 days ago +18
The war hasn't ended whatsoever though and the ceasefire is paper thin with Israel still trying to annex Lebanon. Im not defending netanyahu here, I'm just saying that the "war ended" is not accurate whatsoever
18
og_capsuleer_593 3 days ago +3
Yeah the security situation is a synonym for being held accountable  Just like how Russia rebranded getting drone strikes as falling debris incidents for a while before that stopped convincing their people
3
TheModWhoShaggedMe 3 days ago +3
Israel and conservative Americans never allow wars to end. There might be a ceasefire, but they will continue killing their *perceived* enemies on close and distant soil *until the next barrage of drones*.
3
floydiankabir 3 days ago +321
if everyone knows he’s deliberately keeping israel in conflict so that he keeps immunity, then why does Israel go along with his schemes? i don’t get it
321
Kromostone123 3 days ago +219
the average israeli perspective is we're surrounded by a bunch of anti semitic countries that want to kill every last one of us and if we don't fight back we'll all be dead. we've been conditioned to believe these wars are for our benefit for the purpose of survival. when i talk to other people here it really feels like they're brainwashed. so many people here genuinely believe the idf is the most moral military in the world and that people who criticise israel are simply antisemitic and nothing more.
219
BugPuzzleheaded958 3 days ago +106
The mileage that Israel the country has gotten out of "antisemitism" as an excuse is *precisely* why a strict separation of church and state is paramount (not that the IDF and Israel give the slightest damn about the robustness of their propaganda).
106
Koala_eiO 2 days ago +13
Separating state and religion is great but you have to understand that being Jewish can refer to more than Judaism. It is the same word for a religion and a culture and an original ethnicity. You can have 2 Hebrew ancestors who left the area 2000 years ago and whose whole family tree travelled through other countries and diluted with the locals and still be Jewish under some conditions (the mother being Jewish). Antisemitism is the rejection of Jewish people as a group, you don't have to specify if it's an ethnic or religious group so separation of powers wouldn't help there. It's complex. A quick example of culture without religion: I have days off on Christmas and Easter and I'm not christian, I'm an atheist. Still, the culture that surrounds me is christian regardless of my beliefs. The majority of the people's god now is chocolate at those dates but it's still those dates.
13
cowboydanhalen 2 days ago +6
Yes. People understand that.
6
floydiankabir 2 days ago +23
yeah that’s how fascism works, when your country plays the survival game , to launch aggressive attacks on foreign soil- which war has had a resolution? do you think the hate will decrease then? for that israel is willing to kill everyone till no one’s left? I mean it’s too late i don’t know, but not peace a chance? what people hate aren’t jewish people, it’s the overt killing of people with the argument that they are a danger to us. it’s as if it’s a self fulfilling prophecy of your making. maybe this word antisemitism has israeli people in a weird stockholm syndrome, can’t seem to let go of it.
23
Chudmont 3 days ago +26
Maybe Israel should keep killing massive amounts of people and destroying entire cities. Yeah, that'll make Israel more safe. /s
26
TheGringoDingo 3 days ago +12
It’s mental gymnastics to justify preemptive strikes as being defensive against unspoken generic threats. Being critical of Israel is not the same thing as having wide-sweeping negative beliefs about all or most Jewish people. However, like Americans, the people of a country are who they elect to lead them. We can criticize that, as well, without it being about faith or ethnicity.
12
jimbarino 2 days ago +3
Even with perspective as the single most important thing, it *still* would be better to remove the blatantly corrupt leader. Put someone in who has those same priorities but isn't a criminal.

I think the 90s migration of East Europeans into Israel really did a number on the place.
2
DriverEfficient1270 2 days ago +2
State media has brainwashed citizens over the course of decades. I've seen some of my Israeli friends dramatically shift political outlooks under some sort of false survival rationale. Their entire belief systems regurgitate it; friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances. They're drawn partitions between these people and the rest of the world, and any sound arguments get dismissed as "lack of understanding, only Israelis could comprehend the unique situation". It is absolutely fucked. Their government regime is divisive and evil.
2
Corpus76 2 days ago +18
It's the quintessential "scary conflict needs strong man" so "strong man creates scary conflict" endless cycle. It's like a cheat code for autocracy. Just look at Putin's false flag attacks in 1999 for moving on Chechnya and cement his power. It's just that easy.

I've read with my eyes them talking in their echo chambers "just leave him alone, already" "just let him go, he's doing the country's good" and so on and so on. basically, war = good because good. investigations, trials = bad, because may disturb war effort you gotta admit that system works well at what it's designed to do
