Yeah, headline made me think BBC had quietly dropped a new adaptation too. At this point they should just add years in every title.

Seems Netflix is buying up all the Jack Thorne content they can find.

It already aired in the UK? What was off about it?

Lots of changes from the book, lots of silent artsy shots of the landscape. Generally it was ok for the first episodes but not great, then it got a bit boring, especially if you know what is going to happen.

Really hated a lot of it, loads liked it but to me it wasn't anywhere near as good as the black and white film from 1963.  So many moments from that hit harder but overall the ending scene of the new one pissed me off so much, that actor trying to convey the realization that these kids have more in common with the war than he realises is awful and the "poor show" was absolutely atrocious. I think so much nuance was lost because of this guy's need to have the forest become this layer on top of the show but the old one had it as a background and it showed exactly what it should have been in the first place, an inescapable place.  Instead the guy chose to attempt a Kubrick and make the island seem like something else but it failed so hard, maybe if he had pathways they've walked before, some sort of reference point then it'd have meaning as they go across the island but so much of it was just random trees.  Not sure I even liked the actors that much, I definitely didn't like the younglins or the focus on their faces as to be symbolical of something... Entire show was so artsy fartsy....

Its definitely very symbolic, most of the shots of the landscape were meant to mean something, (i think) but they could have made the plot more exciting, but I think reviews should have been more positive in general. The acting was great though.

Were they saved by Moe in the end?
