That was Cindy Hollander’s work. Paramount didn’t want to let Sheridan walk. Hollander killed the relationship. Really remarkable work.

People said the same about Taylor Sheridan and yet he’s leaving for NBC in 2029. To be fair, they gave him like $1 Billion 😂
(But I’ve already read rumors Ellison might just put Cindy Holland in charge of everything. Also Casey might just not want to work with Ellison)

Only way to do that Is to hope that Netflix does more theatrical releases but for all of their films (watching movies in theaters will never go away unless another huge pandemic forces theaters to close which may not be for a long time)

He has a deal with Universal for movies that started this year in 2026, and the tv deal starts in 2029. He still has a contract with Paramount for tv shows until 2029.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Casey Bloys wants nothing to do with Ellison. When it looked like Netflix was winning the bid, Ted called Casey immediately to talk with him. When Paramount won, David Ellison never contacted him (as of reporting).
Also some reports said Hollywood execs were openly wondering if David Ellison would out Cindy Holland in charge of HBO and HBO Max. She already controls Paramount+
Basically this merger sucks and WB, HBO, CNN, Cartoon. Network is ruined.

Paramount just wants thinly veiled class warfare and last stage capitalism. They'll make a new Into the West, but with tech giants controlling feudal states and humans with no martial arts repairing drones and being treated as worse than household ai bots and on par with disposable salt mine slaves.

With all the debt of Paramount + HBO, talent fleeing for greater artistic freedom and a saturated market for right leaning media, I foresee bigger losses and more debt leading to a sell off of assets. In short, some may end up thankful they exited early to work elsewhere.

If Casey leaves I'm less certain Gunn stays
27
SortIntrepid9192Mar 23, 2026
+11
There's a 0% chance Gunn stays, and people are deluding themselves that he'll stay just because Ellison wants him. *Of course* Ellison wants him, Superman made $100m in pure profit, something that's becoming rarer and rarer with superhero films (to the point where even tentpole films like Fantastic Four are struggling with profitability).
Ellison needs Gunn for a successful DCU, but does Gunn need the DCU to be successful? The guy can work on any IP he wants, or his own. He's still on good terms with Feige, I'm sure he's one phone call away from helming the cosmic side of the MCU, or making his own Alien movie, or whatever the f*** he wants to do. He knows he doesn't need to work for Trump's BFF, nor endure movies being greenlit against his wishes (like Cregger's Batman flick).
11
DarthAstuartMar 23, 2026
+2
The way this is playing out makes it seem really smart that Gunn is spinning up his own Superman sequel so quickly…if Supergirl and Clayface are quality and/or make good money then he’s really building his own reputation quickly as a rare filmmaker who can also guide a big IP vision effectively. He can write his own ticket.
(Also may explain why he doesn’t seem in any hurry to develop a Batman take; between this bullshit and the Reeves stuff, he must know on some level this will be the next guys problem)

He has said he doesn't want to replace Feige.
Also wtf is up with all the Feige hate lately? As far as Disney is concerned Feige shits gold. Everyone knows the MCU slump was solely due to the pandemic plus Chapek.

They're probably planning their approach for when HBO/Warner Bros. is bought by Netflix after the Paramount merger inevitably fails.

>“David Ellison has a bro company, and that’s not Casey at all,” says one industry source familiar with the Paramount-Skydance dynamic. “He’s not a high-fiving bro watching [MMA fights](https://pagesix.com/2026/03/09/hollywood/star-studded-ufc-326-in-las-vegas-shows-the-combat-sport-is-new-place-to-be-for-celebrities/).”
**Update:** I'm being downvoted and insulted by people on this sub who did a Google search of women centered shows to prove I'm wrong. Here is their evidence that Bloys supports women centered shows:
1. Girls. This premiered in 2012 before Bloys was promoted to the head of HBO.
2. Insecure. this was approved by the head of HBO before Bloys was promoted.
3. A Black Lady Sketch Show. this was approved by the head of HBO before Bloys but cancelled after Bloys became head of HBO.
4. And Just Like That. This was cancelled as mentioned in my post.
5. I May Destroy You. This was cancelled after 1 season.
They were correct about Hacks but as mentioned in my post "almost" every high profile show is targeted to men.
Almost every major high profile HBO show is targeted to men including Succession, HOTD, TLOU and numerous GOT spinoffs. Lots of women enjoy those shows but a majority of the audience is white men. There are very few women centered shows. Euphoria and The Idol objectify young women and have numerous scenes created to appeal to men. AJLT was cancelled. The White Lotus is written by a man. There aren't any women or POC writers and it shows. The Pitt is a show that might have more women watching it but there aren't many others.
>our sources pointed out that there would be coming drama between Bloys and Paramount's Direct to Consumer chair Cindy Holland [Bloys](https://pagesix.com/2026/02/27/hollywood/inside-ted-sarandos-and-netflixs-bidding-war-for-warner-bros/), who stole the Duffer brothers of “Stranger Things” fame from Netflix.
I'm not sure the Duffers were worth stealing after what they did with the final season of Stranger Things. After a decade at Netflix there is no proof they can create anything popular outside of Stranger Things and the final season looked like a c**** horror movie on Tubi even after being given a $500M budget.

GigstrMar 23, 2026

That is categorically incorrect. The majority of the audience isn’t white men. It’s a slight male skew.

I guess Industry doesn't exist. HBO literally ran a show called Girls for 6 seasons. One of the highest Emmy awards winning season of television was Watchmen starring a Black woman. Hacks is another Emmy award winning show going on 4 seasons starring 2 women. I Love LA, Rap Shit, A Black Lady Sketch Show, Insecure, And Just Like That, and I May Destroy You. Imo HBO is possibly the least male skewed network on TV outside of reality TV. Maybe drop your biases and open your mind.

>HBO literally ran a show called Girls for 6 seasons.
The head of HBO at the time Girls aired wasn't Bloyes who was promoted in 2016 but you did a nice job of searching Google for female centered HBO shows.
>I Love LA, Rap Shit, A Black Lady Sketch Show, Insecure, And Just Like That, and I May Destroy You.
As I mentioned in my post AJLT was cancelled. A Black Lady Sketch Show was also cancelled. Bloys was promoted after the first season of Insecure aired.

your not wrong on the Duffers but Ross was going through a hard time especially with the divorce of his wife as well as time constraints since they had to write the script while filming for the final season (thats probably why S5 looked c**** or a step down in quality)

There is no indication that the Duffers had issues due to a divorce or personal problems. That was a rumor created by angry Bylers who hate the Duffers. Sometimes talented writers create bad seasons. It happened with Yellowjackets. The first season was brilliant and then the second and third season have bad writing. Stranger Things might have worked better as an anthology or only 2 or 3 seasons and I think the Duffers struggled with a way to continue to story for 5 seasons.
