Trump loves the UK monarchy. He gushes over them. Likely because in his idiotic brain he associates royalty with power. Despite the current UK royalty having no real power, and only exist as a tourist attraction.  He temporarily forgets about Canada when he remembers we still consider Charles our King. With our governor general as his symbolic representative in Canada

The UK has proven to be a terrible ally for Canada during the Trump 2.0 era of disrespect, threats and annexation. Even Charles visit here to symbolically underline our sovereignty wasn’t particularly helpful since he did and said nothing of value.

After brexit UK doesn't have much cards to play against US. EU together has some cards, US can't sanction single country in EU economic bloc. But UK is alone, so US can impose sanctions for whatever reason.

*Her Majesty* is referred to as "The Queen" (yes, with a capital *T*) on the Royal Family's [official website](https://www.royal.uk/the-queen), because unlike with the husbands of the UK's three female monarchs, that's always been the official title of kings' consorts in the UK.

Nope, consort isn’t a title, it’s used simply to separate ruling monarchs from wives in casual conversation. Camilia only briefly used it out of respect for Elizabeth during mourning, she is as recognised by the Canadian parliament simply The Queen of Canada.

His job is to get the best outcome possible for the UK, and often that means meetings with unpleasant people but soft power goes a long way. Statecraft is pragmatism, if a few hours schmoozing gets the country more favourable trade, or more consideration of our position on future issues then it's easily worth it.

It isn’t a personal visit - you do know that, right? Visits with unpleasant people to do diplomacy for a country he is head of state for at the request of the Prime Minister is literally *his job*. It’s a business trip. He’s literally going to talk Trump out of this shit show. And **it’ll probably kinda work** better than most other options because Trump ***loves*** the British monarchy and might actually f****** listen to some of what Charles says long enough to get something settled (hopefully globally advantageous but Starmer won’t be mad if all Charles gets is UK tariff concessions or something too).
