Can’t wait. Absolutely loved Oddity.

Yeah Oddity was great.

Also, Caveat is criminally underrated in my opinion, or at least more unknown than it ought to be.

Caveat was scary, but I didn't understand the plot. I thought Oddity was more of a complete package.

Really hoping a couple theaters show oddity before this comes out. Loved oddity so much when I watched it at home, feel like it’d be a great theater experience

Saw oddity in a packed theater and it was one of the best theater experiences. The movie itself I thought was only so-so but it is filled with some of the best jump scares out there and it was SO much fun to watch with a crowd (and not in a bad horror movie way - in legit scare mode).

Caught it at SXSW. Loved it. If you dug Oddity, you WILL dig this.

Awesome!

Do you have to watch his previous movies?
2
Massawyrm Mar 26, 2026 +2
Nope. Just a good old fashioned spook house horror movie.

It's good to know, I want to watch them anyway but I won't be able before May 1st

I liked Caveat more. Oddity was kinda predictable. Had a few creepy moments tho

Yeah a scene near the end of that gave me a more visceral reaction than a horror film has for a long time

Dark vibes

Something about the word 'hokum' being used for what looks like a serious folk horror film feels deliberately ironic. Like they're setting expectations that it's campy or silly, and then delivering something much darker. I'm intrigued.

Can confirm

Considering the Irish setting, I wonder if Ohm a reference to Ogham…

Can't wait! Oddity and Caveat are 2 of my favorite horror movies!

This is literally Alan Wake. Without the parents' ashes part. And Wake's cosmic horror.

Alan Wake movie when? Come on Sam Lake, you hack!

Jet-Rex-Design Mar 26, 2026 +7
Alan Wake's best left as a game, it feels like a movie would lack the meta quality that makes AW such a brain bender. You have to be the one who discovers things at your own pace.

KraaZe_x_JoKeR Mar 26, 2026 +2
There is a TV show in the works tho sooooo

I swear, I feel like I'm the only person in the world that doesn't understand the praise of the Alan Wake games. 2 felt insanely predictable and obvious every step of the way.

I was thinking more Stephen King meets folk horror but I can see this.

SorryRoof1653 Mar 27, 2026 +1
Same director as Caveat. I wonder if he'll be able to beat that one scene with the corpse.

cinnapear Mar 27, 2026 +1
Damian McCarthy could film paint drying and I'd be there opening night... probably creeped out.

machess_malone Mar 27, 2026 +1
Hell yeah. Never seen Adam Scott in anything horror, although I’m sure I missed him on something. Can’t wait

Sweet another horror movie about a character grieving and confronting the dark corners of their past. Not enough of those these days.

MatureUsername69 Mar 26, 2026 +1
I get that horror has evolved to tap into other negative emotions besides fear but I am getting pretty sick of all of the huge ones tapping into depression. I already deal with that daily, horror was one of my escape genres.

“Hokum” isn’t that huffing shit and piss in a bag to get high? Or am I misremembering that one repost I saw on fb in 2006?

This is literally the Saltburn poster

I hope this has comedic elements to it. I can’t ever see Adam Scott as serious 100% of the time, it’s just impossible for me, even with Severance.
