'no kings' has somehow become a partisan statement. that was literally the one thing the founders actually agreed on
472
clarissaroo Mar 28, 2026 +178
If it’s become partisan that’s on the MAGAts. They apparently want a king

They sound like me when I was 8 years old and learning to play checkers: “King me, daddy.”

screwitagainsam Mar 29, 2026 +4
Thank you, I was unaware I could laugh and throw up at the same time….
4
mikeymikeymikey1968 Mar 28, 2026 +20
No, they're snarkily saying "uh there's no king here". Kings=dictators, seems to be lost on them.
20
Untimed_Heart313 Mar 28, 2026 +6
Today in Philly I saw someone holding a sign that said "Trump Is King," that's enough evidence for me
6
EdwardPotatoHand Mar 28, 2026 +65
It’s funny.. “no kings” and “black lives matter” are so offensive to certain people lol..
65
CharacterUse Mar 28, 2026 +47
To the same people mostly.
47
EdwardPotatoHand Mar 28, 2026 +25
I have several family members that thought it was the end of the world that people said that Black Lives Matter..
25
parasyte_steve Mar 29, 2026 +12
Same. I don't talk to them anymore because they also like to use the n word.
12
EdwardPotatoHand Mar 29, 2026 +12
Let me guess, they 100% claim to not be racist lol
12
Fit_Cause2944 Mar 29, 2026 +1
Well, they have a black friend! /s
1
FuriousBuffalo Mar 28, 2026 +14
What I learned is that when they say "blue lives matter" you can respond by saying the same thing they say, which is "all lives matter". That confuses them greatly.
14
krypticus Mar 28, 2026 +15
“Sorry LIBBY, but ALL LIVES MATTER!!” “Cool, agreed: Trans-lives matter.” “😠😤😡🤬!!!!”
15
Dingogky Mar 29, 2026 +3
Damn I wish I knew this line when that drama started… oof gotta burn their soul to hear that! Thanks even if I’m late to this party!
3
SuddenNothing6266 Mar 28, 2026 +8
Haha..nice one.
8
D13_Phantom Mar 28, 2026 +2
That was the whole REASON for the founding.
2
alabasterskim Mar 29, 2026 +2
Fun fact -- a large number of the founders actually had to be talked down from having the president be a king in all but the name. That's how we ended up with what was originally infinite terms. Source: The Framers' Coup
2
timmyintransit Mar 29, 2026 +1
Well yeah the right wing is now claiming the protests are being bankrolled by socialists, communists, *and* islamists!

I don’t get how someone can be considered a king when they can’t even get a bill passed an overwhelming majority of the country supports
-22
understandstatmech Mar 28, 2026 +9
Well, historically its mostly been kings that could gleefully r*** children without repercussion, so i think it fits.
9
__Scrooge__McDuck__ Mar 28, 2026 -11
Ok thanks for your input
-11

-10

well, some people can't be I suppose <3
3
Pluto-Had-It-Coming Mar 29, 2026 +4
I dunno maybe the war he just started or the leader of another country he abducted or the country he is blockading (and killing children in hospitals) or the massive number of ICE agents attacking people on the streets and executing citizens or tariffs or the insider trading on tariffs or the shutdown of USAID or the tens of thousands of people who have died because of the shutdown of USAID.
4
__Scrooge__McDuck__ Mar 29, 2026 -1
Sounds like any other president
-1
DadumDingo Mar 29, 2026 +1
Bro don’t be a moron
1
Rellestys Mar 29, 2026 +4
Oh, that's easy. We can call him a king because he tried in earnest to become one. [Here](https://www.justsecurity.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/january-6-clearinghouse-nara-records-regarding-invalid-alternate-slate-elector-21-0174-FOIA.pdf) are the fake electoral certificates, made to toss out the real ones and declare him the w*****. To hell with the vote, to hell with the will of the people, this election is *over*, he wins, good night. People tend to go "pshaw, he failed, so where's the harm?" as if they'd be like that if someone tried to r*** their mother but she managed to get away. Nope, not apologizing for that comparison. Trying to kill the Republic is worse.
4
__Scrooge__McDuck__ Mar 29, 2026
What about when the democrats suppressed the whole hunter biden selling secrets to countries to highest bidder until after election. Both sides do bad shit everyone on listnook likes to believe democrats are innocent of everything. They are just as bad, if not worse. Just much much better at playing the victim

__Scrooge__McDuck__ Mar 29, 2026

What is he doing with ice? Using them to find immigrants let back onto the streets out of jail instead of handing them over to ice like it’s always been. Keep up the mental gymnastics youll get tired of it eventually. The only people afraid of ice is people afraid of being deported or people who just want something to complain about
-1
__Scrooge__McDuck__ Mar 28, 2026 -5
How is it not obvious to you people they just want illegals to vote and voter fraud easier!!!! How is strengthening voter registration not good? People can’t afford a 20$ document/order something online? Give me a break theyre freaking adults
-5
hikeonpast Mar 29, 2026 +9
Lay off the Fox News outrage p*** and get educated on just how rare actual voter fraud is, and who tends to be convicted of it most often. Hint: it’s neither “illegals” nor libtards.
9
__Scrooge__McDuck__ Mar 29, 2026 -1
Don’t watch fox news and check out all the democratic voter fraud being uncovered in California. Why are the democrats so opposed to strengthening voter registration? Do they really think people are incapable of figuring adult tasks out? Have you ever researched voter fraud cause doesn’t sound like you have
-1
hikeonpast Mar 29, 2026 +9
Where did you hear the incorrect claim that fraud was uncovered in CA? There have been _accusations_ of fraud (again) by a Republican in CA, but no actual fraud has been demonstrated as of yet. Nobody has been charged. It looks like political theater again from my perspective.

Fox News’ headline on the web yesterday was about how these protests are funded by George Soros and communist groups.
1
metamet Mar 29, 2026 +4
They're all still riding the fence on going overt. They know his polling. They know he's bad at literally every aspect of his job. Bad for peace, bad for the economy, bad for profits. But he's got all the power. Bully pulpit, illegal yet unchecked means of punishing businesses. So they won't go against him. They'll even lie by omission, or twist things to soften it in his favor. But part of them still knows it's possible this country makes its way through this. And ignoring moments like today would be a step too far in making their bias overt.
4
puffpuffpass513 Mar 28, 2026 +11
And France! My parents attended the protest in Nice.
11
dgpoop Mar 28, 2026 +83
What gets me is the Trump Administration openly admitting that they are NOT listening to the protests. They aren't paying attention, and they pride themselves on being the opposition. That is NOT what a great leader does. A great leader LISTENS to their constituents, and enacts policies that benefit the greater good. He is NOT a populist. He is an Authoritarian. A false king. CAST HIM OUT!

He campaigned on no wars. He just started a war costing the American people billions a day. No. No one voted for this. No one voted for him to hide the Epstein files. No one voted for him to rip apart the White House and grift billions of dollars. Get real. No one voted for it, even MAGATs
22
Commodore_64 Mar 29, 2026 +13
No, it's not in fact what they voted for. They voted for cheaper eggs. He won because of a manipulated media system owned and operated by oligarch sycophants, and lack of critical thinking due to a deteriorated education system. Acting with impunity is in fact what kings do. Your statement is false and invalid.
13
Mavian23 Mar 29, 2026 +1
He's not a king yet, but he sure wants to be. He is a convicted fraud though.
1
Appropriate-Prune728 Mar 29, 2026 +1
Promised a lower cost of living, better wages, and no more wars. Instead, received higher prices, more wage stagnation, more wars, and a president that is actively harming the American people in return for millions in bribes from whichever person or company pays him the most. Get off the Internet and look at what's happening in the real world. Voters were lied to.

(From the article): "Across big cities and small towns on Saturday, millions of Americans poured into the streets in a sweeping, coordinated protest against President Donald Trump, in what organizers of the “No Kings” movement said could become the largest day of demonstrations in the nation’s history. From New York to California, and from rural Kentucky to the nation’s capital, demonstrators marched, chanted and waved signs denouncing authoritarian overreach, war in Iran and an aggressive immigration crackdown that has roiled communities and national politics alike. More than 3,000 events were planned nationwide, with turnout expected to surpass the estimated 5 million to 7 million people who participated in earlier rounds of protests over the past year. By midday, the flagship rally in Minnesota was already underway, with at least 50,000 people gathered at the State Capitol in St. Paul. Organizers had promised a high-profile lineup of speakers and performers later in the day, which included Senator Bernie Sanders, Jane Fonda, and Bruce Springsteen, who performed “Streets of Minneapolis,” a song he wrote condemning the Trump Administration’s federal immigration raids.  “Your strength and your commitment told us that this is still America, and this reactionary nightmare and these invasions of American cities will not stand,” Springsteen said to the crowd. “You gave us hope. You gave us courage, and for those who gave their lives, Renée Good, mother of three, brutally murdered, and Alex Pretti, a VA nurse executed by ICE, shot in the back and left to die in the street without even the decency of our lawless government investigating their deaths—their bravery, their sacrifice and their names will not be forgotten.” The demonstrations, organized by a loose coalition of activist groups under the “No Kings” banner, reflected a broad constellation of grievances rather than a single demand. Some protesters aimed their criticism at Congress, chanting “do your job” and carrying signs that mocked lawmakers as timid or unwilling to stand up to the Trump Administration. Protesters pointed to the war in Iran, as well as a protracted government funding standoff over immigration enforcement that has left airport security lines snarled and federal workers unpaid. Others decried proposed changes to voting laws, environmental rollbacks, and what they see as a steady erosion of democratic norms. In Washington, D.C., a stream of protesters marched from Arlington, Va., to the National Mall, beating drums and ringing cowbells as they chanted, “No justice, no peace. No ICE in our streets.” Some carried oversized puppet heads of Administration officials. An inflatable effigy depicting Trump defacing the Constitution made its way through the crowd. In New York, marchers filled Midtown, spilling into Times Square. In Atlanta, demonstrators called for an end to immigration raids. In Boston, protesters erected a memorial honoring children killed in a recent missile strike in Iran, which the U.S. was reportedly responsible for, according to The New York Times."

Glad to have seen a small group of protesters in my small far right hick town. F*** DJT. Real Americans kneel before no king!
47
Oceanbreeze871 Mar 28, 2026 +20
The turnout is great. What’s next? How do we channel this into forcing change?
20
HypocriticalDelusion Mar 28, 2026 +24
One of the benefits of an in-person protest is that you get to meet and connect with others in your community who you might not otherwise get the opportunity to. Finding a sense of togetherness and feeling less alone are kindling for the fires of change. As folks continue to show up, new connections breed new ideas and new pathways forward for the collective good. Keep talking to folks and listening to the perspectives of your neighbors. Learn and capitalize on the variety of strengths in your community, start local. To get out of this it will need to be a ground up effort. I think this is the way.
24
Oceanbreeze871 Mar 28, 2026 +9
We’ve been saying that for over a year.
9
HypocriticalDelusion Mar 29, 2026 +3
Yes, and more voices join in the conversation as we go! Do not be discouraged by the slow, yet steady, building up of grass roots networks. With the economy being shyte and everyone at brink of burnout from surviving this administration people have less (time/money/energy) to give. It’s definitely an unorganized resistance system right now, but the continued efforts provide much needed HOPE for many people.

I can't strike on May 1st as I don't work that day. I guess I can strike by not buying stuff that day, but I'd just be buying it the day before or after so it's not the same.

You call your senators and representatives. Over and over.
8
B3N15 Mar 29, 2026 +2
You can't force change, you have to build up to it through coalition building, organization, and hard work. The people at these rallies aren't standing around waving their signs with their thumbs up their asses not talking to each other. People are their getting people organized, registering them to vote, discussing issues, connecting them to local organizations and candidates, and simply letting them know they aren't alone.
2
DevourerOfRedditors Mar 28, 2026 -2
You wait for three to four months to pass until the next protest on a Saturday.

My friend was sick and had to skip, it would've been her first protest in decades. Though I did get a neighbor to come out when she wouldn't have if I hadn't invited her!
4
fungobat Mar 28, 2026 +12
I was curious if fox news covered the protests, so I just took a peek and surprise, surprise, it's currently the top headline on their site! "500 groups with $3B in revenues are behind the #NoKings protests and communist call for 'revolution'"
12
rabidstoat Mar 29, 2026 +6
I'm expect them to post headlines like "Hundreds of protestors in Minneapolis" (when they had like 200,000).
6
fungobat Mar 29, 2026 +5
Guess they couldn't ignore it. Better to just bring out the almighty "communist" card instead.

1
ButterscotchLow8950 Mar 29, 2026 +1
Well, if the members of congress won’t do their job and apply some checks and balances to Trumps power, then he is no different than a king. No taxation without representation. And these motherfuckers haven’t been representing the American people in quite some time. So yeah. 🤷🏽‍♂️
1
Chemical-Fault-7331 Mar 29, 2026 +1
The only protest that matters is the one in November. If every republic on the ballot isn’t voted out en masse, we will have failed as a nation. That party is f****** done. They’ve become too corrupt and too captured by big monied interests. It’s time to move on.
1
Mrs_SmithG2W Mar 29, 2026 +1
We must unite. They want us dumb, hungry , tired angry, scared and/or distracted so that we will put up little resistance when full autocracy is tried. WE MUST STOP THEM THIS MIDTERM ELECTION: November 2026. It is the last democratic chance out of this mess. Vote, donate, volunteer, door knock/canvass, phone bank, write postcards. Get in touch with your local community organizations or democratic headquarters now to get involved. Here are some good organizations mobilizing people: https://indivisible.org/ https://votesaveamerica.com/ 💪🏼🌍🖖🏼

I think the momentum is to make sure we are all angry enough to go out and vote in the midterms.
11
Watchhistory Mar 28, 2026 +18
Yes, there are goals for this particular day of protests: 1) bring people together and see how many and strong and fun we are; 2) show the too many spineless elected Dem legislators how many we are; 3) continue to get people registered to vote; 4) continue to build momentum toward Nov. elections; 5) build momentum to for May 1st to continue to build momentum by continuing to bring us together. Most of all I have admiration for the No Kings organizers in small red communities. They are brave and strong, and show us great examples of how to be within our own communities within our larger ones.
18
mike_pants Mar 28, 2026 +9
Anyone who says this is either hopelessly out of touch or deliberately sowing misinformation. The goals of the protests are EXTREMELY well-established and clearly laid out on literally any of the No Kings websites, like indivisible.org. There are action plans available, calenders of events, grassroots suggestions for individuals, on and on. The resources are endless. Not to mention, every protest has grown from the one previous, not fizzled out.
9
jayfeather31 Mar 28, 2026 +3
That's good to know. My apologies for unintentionally spreading misinformation. I'll delete the above.

-21
hikeonpast Mar 28, 2026 +17
A parade where people network with each other to effect local and national change between protests.
17
Jeffrey_C_Wheaties Mar 28, 2026 +16
My cities protest had lots of tents of local organizations and lot of people getting signatures on petitions. It’s a great networking opportunity
16
illit1 Mar 28, 2026 +21
Sure. If you're the party in power and a casual 7+ million people leave their houses to say you're doing a shit job there's probably nothing to worry about with the midterms being 7 months away.

Agreed. We need a general strike to generate enough economic pain to result in real change.
2
Jeffrey_C_Wheaties Mar 28, 2026 +10
General Strike is planned for May 1st aka May Day
10
Potential-Fan-6148 Mar 28, 2026 +7
And how do you suggest building up interest and moment for such a thing? I know! Maybe a big networking event. You know we pick a day where everyone available and make a big event where people who dislike Trump can voice their disapproval and network together.
7

Thanks for stepping up to lead the effort. How’s the organizing process going for that?
