Something that popped into my head...
The largest estimated protest for a conservative specific cause is the march for life protest and they topped out less than a million people.
The last no-kings protest topped 7 million.
The math ain't mathin, as they say.

Cool. Great to see it happening on a Saturday, where no major industries or public services will be disrupted, creating zero economic or structural effect. If you’re going to protest, make it *actually worth something.* Otherwise you’re just comparing signs to see who has the wittiest.

Downvote me all you want, but what will this accomplish? Since the last "protest" your pedo leader started a war that will sink the world into a recession, added his signature to your bills, and openly tried to suppress voting rights. This parade will surely do it folks!

Catharsis + Networking/Organizing.
People who may not have otherwise done so learn about and sign up for things like ICEWatch training, meals on wheels, elder check-in, etc.
Technology now divides us more than it unites us and we will not get through this without community. These demonstrations build community in ways we need by providing an access point to activism.

You do know that protests are not individually what changes the law, but brings awareness and call to action to drive change, right?

Good to be with likeminded folks. Good for others on the fence or too scared to say something to see others standing up for America. Things would be worse now if people were afraid to speak out. The administration has already backed down on a number of policies growing in unpopularity.
Please don’t be defeatist. It is what they want. Just like they want you to believe both parties are the same. Don’t fall for it!!!
Edit: I won’t downvote you.

I don't think this is defeatist take, for me it's a you're using your energy wrong. These protests are more like rallies, if you want a protest, it needs to be disruptive. Something that would cause a commotion would be if all these protests for tomorrow took place at every cities airports. Make every airport have to shutdown because of the protests.

This is exactly it. Until protests grind the country to a halt and that can be directly pinned on this administration, no change will happen and no pressure will be felt. I keep getting tired of pointing at examples like Serbia's student protests in recent times. As is, No Kings is incredibly ineffective. You're way past the point of building community, awareness, and all the other "wins" that are listed as a result of this. Some discomfort needs to be felt for things to change, doesn't matter if some people get pissed off in the process. The number of people that want this administration to pay for its crimes already has achieved critical mass

Yeah... and how will you know people will show up to be disruptive? Perhaps you'd be more confident if you've met a bunch of them before, maybe in a huge crowd in a public place?

I’m not trying to be defeatist but I just haven’t seen any evidence of protesting doing anything in my lifetime. I’ve seen Occupy Wallstreet, Iraq War, BLM, and now No Kings. Even during the Vietnam protests in the 60s with 50 thousand plus war deaths and numerous students and protesters gunned down the war still dragged on for a decade. I can’t help but notice that whenever right wingers show up and protests with rifles they never seem to get tear gassed or arrested and shut down. The idea of throwing a big party and hoping the ruling party has some shame just doesn’t seem to be effective. It’s something, but it’s clearly not effective enough on its own.

ICE ramped down in Minnesota because of **peaceful** protests. Of course, the administration won’t admit that is the reason, but it is clear when you connect the dots, as many in the press have done, including by talking with insiders.
This is just one example from this administration. In history there are thousands of examples.

Can't wait for this strongly worded "protest" to do something, just like that last couple of no kings protest. They really changed things.

The protests on their own aren’t meant to change things. That’s never been how protests work. They’re there to get attention and physically demonstrate how the public feels.
Like I hear what you’re saying, but would you rather the people not organize protests? In this case I’d argue it’s better to have them than to not have them. But yes it can be frustrating.
1
Exwl114Mar 28, 2026

I would rather they be more aggressive than what they seem to be, which is a parade. Have any of the other no kings protests have any actual affect on anything. I've been saying that this next should be held in airports. That would have a huge impact, especially with ice agents stationed there.
1
visceralviceroyMar 28, 2026
+1
Also I’m not necessarily opposed to escalating protests to the point of infrastructure disruption (like holding them at airports), but I think that carries major risks, especially if the goal of the protests is inviting everyday people into action. And that does seem to be the point of these protests.
Also since I’m not organizing these protests, I guess it’s not up to me. But it could be up to me, or you, if we began actively organizing. I’m not saying we have to do that, I just think then we’d have a more real say in how the protests are planned and carried out.
1
visceralviceroyMar 28, 2026
+1
It’s hard to measure the impact protests have, but I wouldn’t dismiss them as parades. Activating opposition to this administration, even if that activation feels small (participation in a “parade”, increased likelihood to vote in opposition) has an impact.
It’s also important that people see that their opposition is widely shared. I’d say demonstrating how unpopular this administration is also matters and counts as a real impact.

Because the Dems have no spine and we need people to assure us that if we vote for you, the first thing you make sure is you fight for accountability against this fascist fucked up regime. From the DOJ, to trumpstein, to all of his cult members...etc. Sick and tired of these f****** losers that don't represent the majority, that has the world laughing. See you at the protests, folks!
