My neighborhood has wild turkeys roaming around, and my mom has recently started feeding them.
One time I made a little giggle at something my dog was doing, and she was like, "That's the sound!"
Huhh?????
She then told me that she figured out that one of the sounds the turkeys make when being fed is really relaxing to her. It's this content happy sound, and apparently that's what I sound like.
I'm not normally one to misconstrue compliments, or things people say that could be taken the wrong way. But my mom just told me I sounded like a turkey.
She realized the look on my face and went, "No, that giggle you just did, you even did it as a baby. It would come out when you were happy or content, and it's just . . . a really comforting sound. So hearing the turkeys make that sound is also super comforting because my brain associates it with you being happy."
So, despite the fact that I sound like a turkey, that was actually really heartwarming to hear.
And as I'm writing this, I wonder if the association of comfort with the giggle was from when I was a baby, and "Yes, she's satisfied, I can finally rest."
