Non-religious people, how often do you think about the possibility of an after-life / God?

Rarely, and not in a "i wonder if there is" way.

Only when someone asks me

Occasionally, but more as a thought experiment than a belief question. I’m more focused on what’s verifiable in this life.

Occasionally. Maybe every few months?  I think that when I die my consciousness will end and that will be that.  From time to time I entertain the thought of a heaven and that all of my dead loved ones are there waiting for the rest of us to arrive. But it's not something I seriously entertain.  I am still relatively young and healthy. My children are alive and healthy.  A dear friend's son moved to a new apartment and went hiking his first weekend there some years ago. He slid and was found dead from his injuries.  She became devoutly religious: "it's the only hope I have of seeing Ben again."  I understand religion entirely. It's safety in a world that can be cruel and lawless.

I’ve been reading/watching a lot of stuff about quantum entanglement and quantum immortality…it’s enough to make a guy wonder. There are so many things in the universe that we don’t understand, it’s hard to write off any possibility.

I only think about the afterlife or God if it comes up somehow. Like in the news, conversation, or a movie. I am interested in how other people interact with their faith and I like learning about religion, but it doesn't have much of an affect on me.

Daily because I find the topic of theology interesting. I just don’t find it compelling as a belief system.

Me, too. I don't necessarily believe in it, but hope there is one.

Only in the sense that it's hard to imagine oblivion.

I often think what is it that makes belief in an afterlife so compelling for the religious people, especially given that there is zero evidence for that, and even within religious texts (eg the Bible) there are conflicting notions of what constitutes in the after life.

I think about it as often as I think about Santa or the Easter Bunny. In my mind if something doesn't exist, it doesn't exist period.

only when a religious person brings it up

Used to be panicking about it all day, every day. Because I’m certain there’s either nothing after death OR whatever is after is such a change from this life that it may as well be nothing. And that all of this is meaningless, technically, because we’re just a bunch of chemical reactions, etc etc. Had a whole crisis about this a few years ago, one of my lowest points. But I’m better now, I think. I’ve found that I love every thing and every one despite it all, whatever love even means. Though I still do wonder about life a lot, and what causes religions and such. It’s very interesting to me as a philosophy. I’m just not so afraid now.

Never. I assume it will be an endless nap and I’m just going to stop thinking and go away.

Only when Listnook asks me.

As in if I consider whether one may exist? Very rarely. Only as a thought exercise or experiment then. How often do you consider the possibility of santa claus existing? That question is mentally in the same category for me until I have any reason to conclude otherwise. That doesn't mean I don't ask existential questions, but I just never see it as a relevant answer to those questions so it's not considered further.

As much as I think about the tooth fairy. Or about how stupid all the wars started today are over a fake sky dad

I am so much more preoccupied by life-life, that I never really give much thought about the after-life.

Every day, all day. I live in prayer about 20 minutes out of each hour. A person does not have to follow any specific religion to believe and live their life for our Creator.

I might suggest that you are religious, non- denominational. It's clear that you have a faith and that it is very meaningful, it's just not defined by a belief system. Cool.

Religious/non-denominational sounds Christian. They would call me a pagen! Lol
