I adored this book. Delighted it's getting an adaptation. Anyone have any suggestions for the main characters? I pictured Felicity Jones for Marnie and Daniel Ings for Michael. Would love to hear other suggestions!

And just like that, I borrowed the book from my library through Libby before it explodes in popularity. OP - will this book wreck me like Normal People did? I’ve heard so much good about it.

No, it's a really lovely, sweet, funny romance - no tears! I read it in a day. They are wry, witty characters that feel like real people. I'm not a big romance book fan cause I think many writers make the main characters quirky for the sake of it. But with this I recognised so many of my friends and myself in these characters. And it's set along the Lake District in England. So it will be beautiful!  Let me know what you think. I've recommended it to so many people! Enjoy!

If you want to be wrecked, read one day by the same author and watch the new Netflix series. I really liked You Are Here as well but it’s definitely not as sad.

Daniel Ings is a good shout. I had Rafe Spall in my head (he plays a teacher in the film X+Y - that’s kinda the vibe I was thinking of). I think Emma Sidi would be a good choice for Marnie (she’s currently in cast of SNLUK). For me the most important thing is Marnie can easily be as funny as she is in the books so hopefully they cast an actress who has a background in comedy.

Emma Sidi is an amazing suggestion! What a great call. Marnie's humour is key for sure.  Totally can see Rafe as Michael too. Just currently have a soft spot for Daniel after A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms and think he deserves a stab at a lead role! I think he could pull off sad but funny Geography teacher 😂
