« In the context of international relations and geopolitics, a multipolar world is a system where power is not concentrated in one or two nations, but is distributed among several "poles" or major global powers. When Kim Jong Un mentions supporting a "multipolar world," he is essentially backing a shift away from the post-Cold War era of unipolarity, where the United States was the sole dominant superpower.

But the United States is not the sole dominant superpower, and has never been. Influential yes, but sole? I'm quite sure China and Russia would have something to say about that, historically speaking.

Well, I think you could dispute that the US has been the world power since ww2 with economic growth, technology advancement and military power. We also use their money to buy gold and oil with gives their ecconomy even more of an edge. I cant see any country in the world that has had as good as the US for such a long time.  However, I believe their empire as we've known it is coming to end.  Also id say that china has overtaken the US in many areas including infrastructure, manufacturing and technology advancement over the past 20-30 years, with the ecconomy and military power catching up to the US, particularly the ecconomy.  Just my thoughts. And always - do you own research :))

Psst nobody tell him about Chinese population collapse that seems incorrect-able, rising unemployment and general economic discontent among Chinese youth, a military that still has never had practical experience operating under combat conditions and lacks strategic airlift and long range heavy bombing capabilities (it’s touted next gen stealth aircraft can actually be tracked via infrared due to underpowered engines that are reliant on foreign (French and Russian) parts rather than wholly domestic designs, and its stealth characteristics are further called jnto question due to their lack of internal weapons bays resulting in all ordinance being carried on external pylons), intense military and civil service corruption, outdated military command and control structures that encourages lying and covering one’s ass as opposed to meaningful reforms to cover deficiencies and what few reforms occur are dictated top down instead of allowing for bottom up implementation and experimentation, ballistic missiles that are filled with water as opposed to rocket fuel, an incredibly fragile real estate market built with paper thin support that is tied so closely to the Chinese economy that when it inevitably collapses itll take the entire economy with it. America isnt perfect but people really need to stop treating the CCP as this inevitable world devouring behemoth. The only thing that is inevitable is China likely not meeting the requirements for an invasion of Taiwan by Xi’s 2027 deadline. Whether or not they still invade at that point will be up to history.

Some very good points and I do indeed agree with you on China. The CCP dont have an appetite nor the resources or global influence to "take over the world". In short, China need "us" to sell their stuff to. That's how they make their ecconomy spin. Tie this in with your points and they're not taking over much. They want to trade with as many countries in the world and make literally everything. This isnt that great for other countries as it sovereignty is dependant on a foreign governement, but there is certainly a market for, well, everything. I quite like seeing that governments are onboard with the "multipolar world" framework. How it works out is to be seen but having even just a small vision in mind can grow to a larger vision and then that larger vision can grow into a plan and then that plan can be put to work.

A Multipolar world will result in more Ukraine wars. All it does is give Russia free rein to dominate and enslave its neighbors, and China the ability to do the same in the pacific. Again US isnt perfect but I much prefer their global dominance to a new Cold War between tyrants and warlords. Dont mistake my critique of China, China does indeed have the appetite for global conquest and they would want nothing more than to create a new unipolar order focused on themselves. The Chinese leadership has had a massive chip on their shoulder since Dong Xiaoping that has only grown since Xi took over. They see themselves and by extension Han Chinese as a master race so to speak. It just so happens their eyes are bigger than their stomach currently.

The issue is that the US is currently wilfully abandoning that role. The current administration and its backers wants a return to Cold War-style spheres of influence. So it's up to the rest of the world to come together and ensure it remains balanced and open rather than fractured and squabbling amongst themselves in the resultant power vacuum. Hopefully the US will come to its senses eventually but even then it won't be able to regain the position it had so easily, particularly with all the harm being done domestically too.

A multipolar world already exists. The US can't even force Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but the China-led bloc still likes to portray itself as David facing Goliath in a US-run world.

"Multipolar" is a codeword popularized by Kremlin, that's the politics that Putin wants. Essentially it means dividing the world in the spheres of influence. Anything in the Americas is within the sphere of the US, anything in Western Europe is a sphere of EU, anything in the Eastern Europe and Northern Asia is for Russia, anything in East and South Asia is China, and the Middle East is Turkish/Saudi/Iranian, especially Africa is up for grabs.  In practice that means that Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Romania and all other former Soviet satellites have no business in the EU and NATO, and the war that Russia wages against the Ukraine is fair and just because it belongs to them. Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and the rest of that region including Japan is within Chinese domain, so Taiwan has no right to be independent. Basically it is a 19th century imperialism wrapped in thinly-veiled in 21st century order of authoritarian regimes. I'm short, this has nothing to do with fighting "American Hegemony", but everything to do with controlling all resources, trade and people in their neighborhood.

The irony of unipower authoritarians advocating for multipolar non-hegemony.

When dictatorships say "multipolar world", they mean a world in which dictatorships get to do whatever they want, including war crimes, terrorist attacks, tyranny, oppression, mass murder, torture, etc.

A world led by a country other than the United States would be scary to say the least. Especially if it was led by China or Russia holy shit
