One of the more blatant Ephron homages I've seen. The casting of Kinnear as the shitty boyfriend, the comfortable friend to will they won't they dynamic, the New York of it all, there's even a major scene that takes place at a New Year's Eve party.
That said, even though none of it is done as well as the master, it's still able to catch some of those emotions. Even though the set up and climax of this movie is insane I still found myself getting emotional. I should do the full Ashley Judd sometime, someone who was off the map by the time I became film conscious, but she is so endearing in this I was able to forgive the movie of a lot of other things.
Cute lil 6/10 for me. It did get some points for being named after and playing a great Van Morrison song at the end.
