Not just for de-escalation but also because he is a threat to the world. Crisis after crisis after crisis for years on end, and the absolutely last thing anyone needed was yet another one, and a war of choice to boot. I used to joke that Trump is worse than COVID but every stupid joke eventually seems to become real in this timeline.
