Honestly, good - not because I like or want people to suffer but because the more this sets up to be a long term cascading economic problem for US citizens the more likely it's going to be present enough to still exist in their goldfish memories six months from now.

Ya here is the thing tho. The EU dont have to many horses left to plow the fields. This is going to effect us all.

This is the issue with the US. Your government is the problem, yet none of you want to do a thing about it. Letting this ride out isnt going to impact the US as you produce your own oil. This is disproportionately affecting your so called allies. FFS Russia is even allowed to sell now that Trump isn't even pretending sanctions are real.

It will impact the US in the only way that "matters". US domestic production won't mean cheaper gas, any potential profit benefits won't 'trickle down'. They will keep their prices tied to global oil prices because why would oil companies charge less? The price of gas at the pump will settle upwards accordingly just like everyone else. Which is why it needs to happen. Hitting wallets is the only thing that's going to push voters and/or disenfranchise the MAGA cultists (especially since they don't care about anything except their wallet) because it's a problem that continually and materially nags at them and can't just be pretended away like Covid. But if things settle back down in time for midterms they can go back to their excuses and there's a risk nothing changes.

The US already pays about half what the rest of the world pays for petrol. Your currently "hugely inflated" prices still don't match Europe's normal prices.

Donnicton Apr 20, 2026 +1
Sure, but even if they were cognizant enough to recognize that fact they're not going to care - especially not MAGA and swing voters. Their only concern is that their own prices are up, so that's the only way to affect their vote.

It's getting more and more cartoonish. Trump's resorting to using toothpicks to stop from blinking.

These two keep fighting and the rest of the world has to suffer

aflyingmonkey2 Apr 20, 2026 +6
It’s not even fighting anymore. It’s just fruitless threats and acts of aggression since a ceasefire is now in place
6
TachiH Apr 20, 2026 +3
Could you let them know you put a ceasefire in effect? None of the parties seem to realise or care. Maybe post it on Truth social.

aflyingmonkey2 Apr 20, 2026 -6
I mean Iran isn’t bombed,Israel isn’t bombed and the gulf isn’t bombed. Only Lebanon is still in a state of war since the IDF is still there (despite the ceasefire and Iran’s request for a ceasefire in Lebanon too)

TachiH Apr 20, 2026 +7
The US and Iran have hit ships. That means the ceasefire has not held.

In any sane world, just the back and forth on whether the strait will be open would lead to the resignation or demands therefore.

The current administration is being played by Iran. The US got humiliated when they left Afghanistan and Iran is playing the same game now. They are waiting them out while keeping oil prices high, which hurts the US more.

Iran is doomed if the Blockade stays in place.

So is the rest of the world. Hope the MAGAs enjoy the end of civilisation. The world certainly won’t

The amazing thing here is that there is a deal to be made here but both sides prefer a pissing contest. Iran is in dire straits because its economy can only take so much and it doesn’t have any military levers to pull. Trump knows that market confidence is diminishing the longer this debacle continues and his reputation is severely tarnished. He is desperately trying to claim a win but no one is convinced by his bluster and posturing.

Israel and America were the middle east's problem, whilst the rest of the world watched, now they have grown to be the world's problem where nobody is left unscathered.

Wait till Tangerine Nero start throwing nukes, the oil prices will be higher than a mushroom cloud

Is that not like a war crime?

Nah, it's just a small act of piracy in international waters. No biggie.
