There’s a billboard on I10 either in Mississippi or Louisiana but it has a big old picture of Trump with Jesus and says “Thank you Jesus for President Trump, his cabinet, and Elon Musk… RIP Charlie Kirk”. I could not believe my eyes.

After Carter, democrats in DC thought that they needed to go right on economic issues and crime to stay competitive, even though New Deal policies were still insanely popular. At that point, the only way they could distinguish themselves from Republicans was to be progressive on things like race, marriage equality, etc. Ronnie Raygun killed unions. NAFTA and offshoring of manufacturing killed off most of what was left of blue collar America. These effects were felt simultaneous to historically disadvantaged communities finally achieving some semblance of equality. I think a lot of folk in rural, rustbelt America felt those things were intrinsically linked. So now, they wish to punish those who "benefitted from their downfall". Even though the Epstein class is who gutted them. But as long as liberal and left wing Americans are unhappy, they think that they are winning. Plus those folks are brainwashed by billion dollar propaganda machines.
18

Don’t underestimate the (sometimes naturalized) immigrants who come from conservative religions/cultures. They can’t comprehend American politics and system wholly and are single issue voters while benefitting from liberal and left wing policies

There is no mechanism to suspend elections in the US constitution. Just because that’s his fever dream, that doesn’t mean you need to provide it validation, intentional or not, by talking about it like it’s a foregone conclusion.
32
ohgeorgie Mar 20, 2026 +7
I haven’t read the rules so I could be wrong here but my understanding is that the president immediately stops being the president on January 20 as per the 20th amendment. I don’t believe there needs to be another elected president in place as it was assumed that would have happened. Congress and 1/3 of the senate also would stop being elected if they aren’t reelected in a new election.. so if there is no election the president would end up being someone on the line of succession who is not in an elected position. Vance, Johnson and Grassley would be out so it would be President Rubio in 2029 - unless Trump appoints himself Secretary of State before that date… then we have confusion that the Supreme Court can help us with … oh wait.
7
t0talnonsense Mar 20, 2026 +12
There can’t be “no election.” The elections are run by the states. Even if the GOP led states don’t hold an election to produce electoral college voters, the democratic states will. And that voting total will count. And if that’s what’s happening, then the House and Senate will absolutely flip blue at historic rates. Attempting to suspend the election is a sure fire way to start a civil war, not enshrine a continued Trump presidency.
12
DingerSinger2016 Mar 21, 2026 +3
A bunch of red states like mine (Alabama) still have at least one Democratic representative in a Congressional district. Not holding elections means the state will simply appoint who they want, meaning that the 5-1 split we have will now be 6-0 for MAGA. That may not sound like much, but do the same for Florida and Texas and it becomes extremely worrying.
3
SatisfactionNarrow61 Mar 20, 2026 +4
This argument assumes they have to follow law. That’s dead.

You need to face it as a reality and all start f****** doing something! Your constitution doesn't mean shit, jack.
8
don_shoeless Mar 20, 2026 +5
It's not a reality. Trump declares elections are suspended. Blue states *hold elections anyway*. Red states may or may not, depending on their internal politics. In both cases, it's the states making the call.

2
TheLazyPencil Mar 20, 2026 +2
There's no mechanism in the constitution to send ICE to randomly kill American citzens for not obeying traffic laws but that's been done already. All he has to do is send ICE to supress voter turnout with harrassment and arrests of citizens in heavily democratic areas (i.e. all cities) and that's enough to tip the scales to R. Any violence against ICE? That voting location doesn't get counted. Any bad press coverage? FCC chair pulls their license. All these actions are being tested now in preparation. Trump's MO is to always act with the crazy unconstituional thing first (Jan 6th., bribes, Iran) knowing the checks trying to stop him will be tied up in court for years, while he gets the benefit immediately.

Just had a small conversation with my girls brother. Telling how much gas is right now. He started blaming our states Governor. Told him its cause of the war in Iran driving prices up. He responds with "why would Iran effect our gas prices. We dont get oil from them". I just left it at that. Didn't want to go any deeper since I had to get back home with the grocery haul.

The fed cannot print hydrocarbons. A tweet may save the day on the markets temporarily but it cannot open that straight. There is no saving this, reality will catch up soon enough. Brent crude oil is at 110 but those are paper futures, Dubai physical crude is selling at 150-170. The paper derivatives are being artificially suppressed, this isn’t even a conspiracy look at the silver markets in January or the 2022 nickel squeeze, the game is rigged. Get your money out now while you have the chance, once the car is out of the bag and the institutions have handed over their bags it’ll be too late I recommend hard assets, gold and uranium, and DCA into those. Uranium went from 6 dollars per pound to 40+ in the 70s last time oil stopped flowing from the gulf

Qatar, Kuwait, saudi arabia oil production being attacked. Now iraq joins iran in attacking global oil production. Israel says they will assist in opening Hormuz (how). Meanwhile trump says that he will attack critical iran oil production/refinement infrastructure if iran doesn't open straight of hormuz. Every one of his foreign and domestic policy decisions actually makes perfect sense if you watch the documentary "The Producers"

"I'm going to lower the price of gas and not start any new wars!" *destabilizes the entire Middle East and its oil production by starting a new war there*

Where have they topped $112? The high today was $98.75 a barrel. Edit: I was looking at West Texas, this article was talking about the price of Brent Crude.
2
bigdaddydickerson Mar 20, 2026 +12
They were talking about Brent not West Texas

3McChickens Mar 20, 2026 +6
Brent crude. I believe the $98.75 was US crude

Ned_Nebula Mar 20, 2026 +2
They’ve been holding right around there but gas prices keep going up daily.
2
AdmiralCole Mar 20, 2026 +1
Gas prices at the pump are always slower to follow the futures price per barrel. That's mostly because this price, the $98.75 per barrel is the expectation of future purchases of a barrel of oil will cost, not what the gas in the pump today actually cost prior to being refined. They'll likely keep going up for a while. Also the saying goes gas prices go up like a rocket and fall like a feather, holds pretty true. It'll probably be a long time until they come back down after this.

spicypixel Mar 20, 2026 +2
Doesn't literally say in the article they're referring to the brent crude barrel price rather than west texas intermediate?
2
Hydromeche Mar 20, 2026 +1
I know you go the answer already but I use this. https://oilprice.com

Mr_TreeBeard Mar 20, 2026 +1
I asked this in a previous thread with no luck. When I look up oil prices, it says as of typing this that it's $98 a barrel. Where do they get the $112 number? I'm only asking so I can accurately monitor it.

fiendishrabbit Mar 21, 2026 +4
98 is for West Texas Intermediate. 112 is for Brent Crude, which has served as the "gold standard" of oil since the 1960s because it's a sweet light oil that requires minimal processing (de-sulferization etc) to transport by tanker and yields a high proportion of gas/diesel without expensive/complicated processing.

Force Majeure huh? Damn, feels so Napoleonic. To be fair to Napoleon this shit is more like medieval in terms of the stupidity of it all.

Bro took over Venezuela and their oilfield, then causes a shitstorm in the middle east where refineries are getting mercd, jacking oil prices up. I wonder if its connected...
1
ringaroundtherosiez Mar 21, 2026 +1
Can someone explain if there is a correlation between oil prices and gas. Obviously when oil goes up so does gas but is it like, every dollar is a cent higher for gas?

I play a lot of games like this. Those screw you games. Sometimes I don't want to win I just want to shit the board all game. Cause grief for everyone. That's what Iran is doing right now. You f****** me? Fine. I'll f*** everyone. Thanks for that trump. Piece of shit. Now people are needlessly dying.

Man was elected on the premise that he'd lower the prices of gas and other commodities, and stop illegar wars. The opposite has happened. I expect Americans to show this disapproval during midterm elections. And in 2027 jan, the man should be impeached.
