They could have been banned before and started a new account. Account age doesnt neccessarily mean a young person. That is assuming that you are associating a young account with a young person.

We come from an era where we used to sign our government name on posts on model train forums. We used to recognise users by their names, their writing style. Maybe even their signature block with a spinning "@" gif. We believe everyone is true on the Internet.

Did Trump tweet out all our plans by any chance or did Pete accidently include Iran leadership in the text chat

Probably both, haha.  Trump has been pretty open about it, it’s not exactly a stealth operation

66

Oil reached $147 in July 2008. That's about $220 now. Just imagine.

Lol, I remember nearly crying when I bought my first tank of gas and it was nearly $5/gallon in late 2013. These days, I'm frustrated I didn't buy gas sooner when it's above $3

Because there is still some expectation of TACO.
38
Turbots Mar 30, 2026 +13
TACO would not solve the problem of the Strait
13
ArchusKanzaki Mar 30, 2026
No, but it will lower price so they can buy in before it gets higher.
0
ThePlanck Mar 30, 2026 +1
Also, from what I heard, the last ships that passed through the strait before this started and headed for more distant ports might still be in transit so the shortages haven't had time to hit those countries yet.
1
ArchusKanzaki Mar 30, 2026 +1
Iirc, last shipment of LNG before the crisis have now arrived at destination. Each country have its own reserves but it's only for several months at best. Shortages won't happen so fast, but when factories in Asia are forced to wind down operation, it will reverbate fast. In India, restaurants are forced to limit menu and reduce cooking oil usage, and got issued with firewood stoves. The knockon effect will take time but it will get progressively worse the longer it continues.
1
wrecked_angle Mar 30, 2026 +48
$4.45/gallon when I filled up today. It was about $.2.75 when this bullshit started

25

11

1
manniesalado Mar 30, 2026 +254
It will be a suicide mission with no objectives. It's war as a six year old would design one.
254
ZedekiahCromwell Mar 30, 2026 +127
The US has already showed it is completely unprepared to defend against drone warfare, despoite all of the opportunities they had to observe new warfare dynamics in Ukraine. We can't keep our bases safe. It's going to be a bloodbath when American troops are on the ground.
127
SmartTrender Mar 30, 2026 +87
The US is again demonstrating that it’s military is not as mighty and invincible as they think they are. They spend in the trillions per year now and cannot defend a few bases from drone attacks. Where is all that money going? Same with Russia and Ukraine for that matter. They thought Ukraine would be a cake walk and 4 years later…
87
JB-Wentworth Mar 30, 2026 +59
Eisenhower warned of the dangers of the military industrial complex 65 years ago.
59
EmbarrassedW33B Mar 30, 2026 +29
Turns out our military could be just as effective for a fraction of what we pay, everything is just grossly inflated to line the pockets of a few choice corporations. It should have been obvious but, yea...this isn't really great when you actually have to fight someone that can shoot back effectively.  All these over priced, over engineered toys struggle to compete with the ingenuity that comes from desperation and having to work with a comparatively tiny budget. GG America
29
ZedekiahCromwell Mar 30, 2026 +36
Yeah, it doesn't help when the US is relying on Patriots ($4M per shot) to defend against drones that cost $25K to construct and have a strike range of over a thousand miles. It's a complete failure, like everything this regime attempts.
36
OldLondon Mar 30, 2026 +1
In a regular 1 v 1 old school war the US is indeed unbeatable.  Unfortunately aircraft carriers, air superiority and big bombs don’t count for shit against guys with drones. But trumps ego is too big to take advice or help from Ukraine - and US soldiers will die by the 100s as a result - slow hand clap
1
ZedekiahCromwell Mar 30, 2026 +1
100s is extremely optimistic if they do invade, tbh.
1
kananishino Mar 30, 2026 -1
Im confused but do you expect the US military to basically come unscathed because that's just unrealistic.
-1
Dynamite_Shovels Mar 30, 2026 +13
I would say a lot of the supporters of Trump's 'lets f*** the world up' conflicts absolutely do believe this. They support the war not just because they've been told to, but because they truly do think they decades of MIC funding, defence spending in the trillions and underestimation of Iran as a country (100% legit think most Republicans assume Iran is just another Afghanistan with guerilla fighters) means that they will land some troops and within a week steamroll any defence to reopen the Strait. Reality doesn't get through to them so I do think they genuinely believe it won't be a suicide mission and utterly pointless.
13
EmbarrassedW33B Mar 30, 2026 +12
Its moreso just embarrassing because the US has watched Ukraine and Russia both use and fight drones so effectively for several years now, watched how the battlefield was completely changed by this new tech. And now Iran's drones have basically taken them by surprise and done far more damage than they should have been able to, given the US should have planned for this.  In fairness, perhaps its just the incompetence of Trump and his handpicked loyalists like Hegseth that screwed the pooch here. Maybe the military was actually prepared for this but Hegseth fired the personnel who were responsible for that preparation because they weren't white men. I guess we'll find out with hindsight in a few years if we're all still alive then.
12
hellswaters Mar 30, 2026 +10
It's even worse than that. One of the main drones being used by Russia was developed by Iran, and originally supplied to Russia by Iran. Everyone knew the Shahed was going to be used, in extreme numbers. To not be ready for it is just pathetic. And then to turn down Ukraine's offer to help is even lower.
10
toofine Mar 30, 2026 +3
If the goal is chaos, distraction and profits for Saudi Arabia and Israel, then they prepared very well. For every trillion the USA burns and they gain $50b, that's a trade they'll take all day, every day. That's money to buy up more USA assets and kickbacks for the Trump regime.
3
EasterZombie Mar 30, 2026 +12
I’m extremely interested and worried about what the people and governments reaction is going to be if/when the initial invasion of Kharg island is repelled or possibly fully wiped out. The same thing happened when Russia attempted to take over the Kiev airport during the initial invasion. Of the paratroopers involved in the initial attack, around 1/3 to 1/2 of them died. This time around Iran has a better understanding of drone warfare and a much better idea of exactly where the USA will attack. I would guess at least 1/5 of the soldiers involved in any Kharg landing will die, which could be over a thousand people.
12
Scriefers Mar 30, 2026 +1
America is not going to invade/land on Kharg until it has already established a mainland beachhead and ensure Kharg is defendable from the Iran’s reach…. Kharg’s military assets have already been neutralized, it is a useless island once its supply of oil from the mainland is denied. Like you said, it’ll be like shooting fish in a barrel if Iran is still capable of hitting the island. Which will also be a very unlikely scenario, because Iran would just be destroying their own vital infrastructure and lifeblood that drives their economy. Kharg is not the target.
1
arobkinca Mar 30, 2026 +1
The front, wherever it may be, will be swarming with drones.

20 years of fighting a wildly asymmetrical war against desert goat herders in flip-flops does that. They truly believe they can just wipe a whole ass country with a single platoon and be home for dinner. If the russo-ukranian war did not teach them that modern wars against a near-peer adversary, they're in for a rude wakeup.

They'll be forced to reinstate Obama's deal with Iran, but they'll call it something different because magats are tarded.
117
Tuesday_6PM Mar 30, 2026 +109
No way Iran accepts the same terms as Obama’s deal when Trump is the person who blew up that agreement in the first place. They’re going to demand more concessions or guarantees, especially if they’ve shown holding the world economy hostage can force the US to the bargaining table
109
Eclectophile Mar 30, 2026 +35
And it'll be a worse deal for the US.
35
ArchusKanzaki Mar 30, 2026 +9
Obama's deal took years of ground works, cooperation between multiple countries, acceptance of intrusive nuclear inspection, all for some sanctions to be lifted gradually. It's only designed to reduce nuclear threat in exchange of sanctions relief. The Ayatollah agrees to it and helps to push and promote it within the country. They see that US won't ever get baited into invading Iran. Unilaterally occupying Hormuz will be a huge act of aggression in any normal time, and it's difficult to make people have hope when they still get sanctioned. Israel is angry about the deal because it helps funds its enemy, Saudi does not like it because it views Iran as existential threat, and Iranian hardliners does not like it because it concedes their rights to "the enemy". But it eventually get passed by both sides and the agreement starts. Trump scuttled the deal and prefer 'maximum pressure'. He wants to ramp up the deal to be basically "no nuclear at all", "remove all your proxies", "swear off longer-range missile program and keep it capped", on top of Obama's deal of constant inspection. In light of this war, he also added "no more using Hormuz as leverage" and "no more attack on any energy infrastructure". What is that if it's not complete capitulation? And Trump seems to truly think that after Venezuela, he can just mulligan negotiators by force, find someone more submissive, and Iran in general will not dare to defy US and its mighty fleet. I mean, they warned US base after Fordow retaliation. What's that if it's not fear in Trump's mind?
9
geomaster Mar 30, 2026 +1
how is it "maximum pressure" when donald is now calling for removal of sanctions on iranian oil?
1
ArchusKanzaki Mar 30, 2026 +1
And that's why some ppl are saying that "US already lost when it's forced to ease sanctions".... And honestly I do agree. This thing is just so stupid. Either the entire Pentagon is that stupid or that they wanted to believe so hard that "one tap and it would crack". Who the f*** goes to war with Iran without securing Hormuz!? That's like the most fundamental things that everyone who saw a map understand that it's just the most obvious weakpoint! Even normal gamers will understand that!
1
danceswithporn Mar 30, 2026 +64
If the war costs $2 billion per day, it's enough to pay 1000 tankers to pass through the Tehran Tollbooth. True, they wouldn't have a tollbooth if we hadn't attacked them, but how many lives will it cost to un-ring that bell?

Oil is used for so much more than just transportation and energy. Everyone focused so much on oil that they forgot that LNG is also a major export that got halted which is used for both energy and fertilizers that the world needs to actually grow enough food to satisfy the world. And do not forget about cooking OIL, Machine OIL, and even PLASTIC that also comes from Oil. Basically, it might even be more fucked-up than Covid, and this time there is no sense of solidarity of everyone suffering from same thing and because of (mostly) natural cause.... This is entirely by choice, and there is no vaccine to suddenly rebuild everything destroyed in Middle East quickly. Travel rebounds back quickly after vaccine is deployed, mortality rates reduced to acceptable rate, and countries opening-up too. If you think that Covid shortages are bad, wait until all the factories in Asia starts winding down too due to energy shortages, which is where all the computer chips needed for WFH and datacenters supporting WFH comes from. When Covid happens, there is a distant end in the tunnel until the vaccines are deployed.... the only quick end on this tunnel is US withdrawing almost immediately, which is basically impossible because US started this. No Gulf countries will accept Hormuz toll booth and Israel also wants to take South Lebanon for now since Iran does not seems to will capitulate soon.... US is now stuck in escalatory ladder, since the alternative is complete destruction of US's supreme power myth, and end of LOTS of political career.
6

There are few things that the American conservative cares about more than c**** fuel for their stupid f****** trucks. Sadly, hitting Americans in their wallets is probably the most effective way to get them to pay attention to what our government is actually doing in other parts of the world. And unfortunately, this war will severely damage our relationships with allies worldwide, if Trump hasn't already decided to abandon them altogether. I wish you didn't have to deal with this, a majority of Americans don't want to deal with this. But here we are.

MrMindspace Mar 30, 2026 -26
Do you think that you know better than US intelligence about the state of Iran’s nuclear developments and their intentions? They started just bombing everyone around them like lunatics, even those countries not involved in the conflict. They are the biggest state sponsor of terrorism against the United States, what makes you think they wouldn’t use a nuke against the US if given the opportunity? But sure, you, some liberal nutter on Listnook surely knows better.

I mean according to the government, we struck Iran’s nuclear facilities months ago and completely decimated them. Not my words, his. Also, we didn’t bomb nuclear facilities we bombed a children’s school. Put yourself in their shoes. Last time we were bombed, we spent nearly 20 years f****** the Middle East for it. Crazy of you to say they are crazy for lashing out.

6
ArchusKanzaki Mar 30, 2026 +1
Eh. They saw it. This is just the official public warning message because they are prepared to escalate the war if they actually go through with ground invasion. They will then have excuse to do so after US escalate first. Maybe they will destroy Saudi's pipelines and close Red Sea using Houtis too. If Iran can't export, nobody can export oil. This is what proper modern country do when preparing for war. Excuses, justifications, laid out in public first. But current Trump admin seems to think that's just weakness and prefer surprises and "unpredictability" instead, couple that with backstabbing "naive" negotiation partner. Y'know, like mafia.
