Older movies in the theaters database

Posted by bartleby913

So I've randomly seen older movies in the theaters over the years. Some times i just get lucky with google etc and i'll see that "Heat is playing at this theater near you in 2 weeks at this time, buy tickets here". But What i would love to know is if there is a good searchable data base to find these older movies that come back for a showing or two in the movies. Or do you just get lucky by googling it and maybe getting lucky. After watching Hail Mary last week, I'd love to go see The Martian in the theaters.

fandango usually has a section for special screenings and re-releases, but yeah most of the time it's just dumb luck stumbling across them

If there is a Regal Cinemas near you, they show an old movie daily. You can [check the schedule on this sub](https://www.reddit.com/r/RegalUnlimited/s/3RVl2DgNVc)

Wife goes to "The Met" operas 3-4x a year. I thought it was exclusively for artsy stuff like that. But there's a bit more to it.

What city do you live in, if you don’t mind my asking? There are a lot of regional newsletters (like ScreenSlate in NYC) that list of a lot of the repertory (classic) films playing during the week.

I would focus more on your local arthouse theaters like the AFI theater in Silver Springs or The Charles Theater (which is showing BOOGIE NIGHTS, ALIEN, KILL BILL, SUNSET BOULEVARD and classics from Truffaut and Hitchcock. There's no one-size-fits-all type listing of all the rep showings in Baltimore at any one time, but I'd find the theaters that are most likely to be doing this (and no, not a Regal), and follow them on socials or subscribe to their newsletter so you get the word when things go on sale. As for THE MARTIAN, sadly I don't think that's gonna happen. That movie was distributed by Fox, which is now owned by Disney, who have some pretty strict rules and regulations when it comes to putting some of their films back in theaters. It's possible, but traditionally it's not something they would do. Anyway, good luck and happy watching!

I found this website: https://baltimorerevivals.com It looks like it notes all of the revival screenings across two theaters in the Baltimore area for the next few months. I knew to use the “revival” phrasing because LA has something similar I use called Revival Hub.

Just a hooray for supporting movies in cinemas. Every ticket sold supports a great institution.

It's a hard one. Finding the time is hard. But just recently took my daughter to see project Hail Mary and she loved it. It was also nice to see a non kids movie with one of my kids.
