Must be nice to afford diagnostic checkups without having to fight insurance companies over what constitutes as “necessary”.
It’s all necessary to ensure you don’t have something that can kill you.

I mean it's a shit situation, but it's an American situation that is to the rest of the world utterly unbelievable.
As someone in a country with free healthcare (I've had multiple ambulance trips and two operations over the past two years - no cost), stories like this (and far far far worse ones) just make me think...why the f*** havent you guys revolted yet?

I’m also in a country with almost free healthcare and we don’t have screenings for almost any diseases. You only get tests when you start showing symptoms and in many cases it’s gone very far at that point and treatment will be very rough if even possible. It’s not all sunshine and daisies just because healthcare is c**** or free. They don’t always let you use it.

Sounds like here in the UK - I find it entirely depends on your GP - mine is fantastic, luckily and is forceful when something needs pro-active action. Caught the issue that would have got worse if not for the operations
And to be honest, I'd rather have this than bankruptcy for being unfortunate enough to get hit by a car, or have a heart attack, etc.

I totally agree that it’s better than to have a system like in the US. It’s just that it’s far from ideal and I think we should still strive to get a better healthcare system. Im in sweden and we have GPs too I think but I’ve not seen mine since I was a child. They are always booked and busy so if I need to see a doctor I’ll just go to anyone who’s available. And our appointments are just for if something is wrong. Not just a general checkup to get some blood work done and check your heart and blood pressure or something. You can’t do that here unless you go to a private practice and that gets expensive.

Most of the country is dumber and more useless than a sack of Fischer Price hammers.
Look at whose president now, who preceded him, and who was president before that.
We are a country of morons.

You should not call people morons when you can not even spell Fisher Price

I think it’s excusable to misspell the name of toddlers toy brand than it is to be confidently in support of some of the dumbest and oldest humans to sit in the White House and halls of Congress that this country has ever seen.

Even the civilians who turned their backs on him will vote for people just like him in the Fall. Morons indeed.

If you cannot get mammograms via insurance, Planned Parenthood offers screening and can facilitate access to a mammogram.
It’s not a political talking point when it comes to your own health, and please do not give up if you have any concerns.

Unfortunately, if you are disabled or elderly and on Medicare (not Medicaid), Planned Parenthood is not legally allowed to treat you. You are required to go to a Medicare provider, which PP is not.
I can't afford a Mirena IUD replacement, I'm quoted $1,500 out of pocket, my Medicare won't cover it, and I can't go to Planned Parenthood.

Breast, cervical, and colon cancer are all free or low-cost screenings. Covered by Medicaid if low income and mammograms and pap smears are offered for free or on a sliding scale at Planned Parenthood.
Lots of things are wrong with medical care in the U.S. but let's not exaggerate and make people think these tests are out of reach.

You're absolutely talking out of your ass. I asked for a colon cancer screening, the doctor said that the could do a fecal test but it's only about 70% accurate. My insurance said that a colonoscopy is not covered and it would run around 10k.

There’s no reason to be salty over her warning. Yes she has more money than most of us, that doesn’t make her an innately bad person. I mean, I’ve got plenty of problems with the rich, and I wish they were taxed to hell, but she’s not the one who created the problem, my dude.

Woah a 45 year old woman doesn't look like she did when she was in her early 20s? Wow. Who would have thought that people age and look different? Wild stuff.

It’s not aging. It’s the cosmetic surgery she had.

You just reduced an article written about the early detection of breast cancer (a cancer that primarily affects women) to the aging and looks of a woman.

I agree the comment was in poor taste considering the subject matter. However, what I said has absolutely nothing to do with age. I feel sad that so many already beautiful women feel the need to get so much plastic surgery and fillers. I absolutely agree that the comment shouldn’t have been made on that article though.

That’s a fair take that I can absolutely agree with. I appreciate the accountability and apologize for overlooking that your initial comment didn’t have anything to do with aging.

I’m not saying she’s not good looking lol. I just think it’s sad how out of hand plastic surgery has gotten, to the point where a lot of celebrities don’t have the same unique features and faces they once had.
