I am an old woman - decades removed from the majority of the characters played in season 1 and 2 of Euphoria.
I was bewitched - so much so that I very recently binge watched both seasons once again.
It was elegantly complex and chaotic.
It was violence, betrayal and despair.
It was also exquisitely tender, witty, gentle, loving, passionate, playful and sensitive.
It was powerful, moving and mesmerising
as was the music that accompanied it.
Some of the actors featured in those seasons are wonderful. Zendaya’s portrayal of addiction particularly blew me away with its authentic take of being lost in dangerous free fall regarding her drug use.
Watching her brought back memories of good times I had lived through - and yes - I am being tongue in cheek.
But God can that girl can act.
I had been eagerly awaiting a third season knowing that it would be their last.
But this last hurrah is a mess that lacks any substance.
It aims for arty and gothic but it delivers neither.
It is ugly in so many respects and it sure ain’t classy.
And as with other shows I have watched in which time has lapsed considerably between seasons.
The magic has gone - in this case - it has been completely obliterated.
I am honestly thinking I won’t get past this first episode. I wanted to complete the story arc but I truly don’t think I can.
Rue has become a parody of herself.
All the featured characters in this 1st episode are so contrived and so lacking in imagination or substance.
It is not original in any sense.
It is instead almost cartoonish.
As I write this I don’t even feel sad that the last chapters of a once great show have been reduced to a pathetic wreck because I no longer feel connected to the characters or their ridiculous stories.
Whatever fondness I felt for the depth of the characters and their stories has gone - very sadly their essence has been sucked out and replaced with a surreal emptiness.
If it is hell to watch I can only imagine the despair of those who once had sophisticated and absorbing stories to tell being reduced to playing out the last days of this once great show mired in such c*** that lacks any soul.

Violet blue said everything I feel about this new season...binged on the last 2 seasons the last couple of days...my 29 yr.old grandaughter thought I might like it but warned me about the raunchy stuff & lots of sex stuff...I reminded her too of that thing I said above...teen of the 60s/ 70s! & i was born & raised in the heart of Da Quarter in N.O.La.! I'm with you Violet Blue...you saved me from all Dat texting with my poor ole' arthritic hands!

In S1, Euphoria lived up to its name. I expected S3 to be bad, but it somehow surpassed even my lowest expectations. Your take is correct.
Covid was the beginning of the end. You can’t go 2 1/2 years in between seasons of a series about teens, and then on top of that completely change everything that made the show magic in the first place. The music, the delivery of each character’s back story, the cinematography (s/o Petra Collins). S2 was already feeling like a completely different show from S1 - not horrible, but not amazing. The euphoria was mostly gone and bad storylines were taking me out of the show completely.
S3e1 the euphoria has been obliterated. No Labrinth. No Kat. No Fezco. No colors. I grieve what this show could have been.
I’d be willing to bet a lot of the negatives in your comments are from males. I was able to relate to all of the main female characters in S1 in some way or another. Their stories were interesting and I wish we could have seen where they’d gone had Petra Collins not been shut out and covid not hit.
During S2 I would say I went through withdrawal for S1. Now, I mourn what could have been.

the final season was a dumpster fire. stopped watching after 2nd episode. first 2 seasons were kept me coming back for the next episode.. same thing happened with 13 reasons why, should've ended the show with second season.

I was never expecting a masterpiece so a lot of these reviews don’t shock me, shock me but goddamn is Listnook unable to be normal about this show, Sweeney, or Levinson so I’m looking forward to forming my own opinion on it, even if it lets me down like most of these long-wait shows have.

Levinson is probably a creep - super sexualizing highschool drama is not something most people are going to do or come up with that aren't. Doesn't affect me as I am not an actor and can separate art from artist, but something that is probably true, although there is no verification yet. Also, the previous sound manager or whatever quit in protest saying he doesn't like working with jerks or some such shit.
Sweeney - is probably MAGA Barbie. She has huge cans and looks pretty. Again, I don't care about their personal lives or what they really are. If you do, you probably won't want to watch shit with her.
Euphoria - overly sexual and unrealistic show about high schoolers. Huge break between 2nd and 3rd season and is now going off the rails with a new hollywood style drug story. Looks to be interesting popcorn style season that will have very adult themes but is straying very far from its roots. Only done because Levinson had the actors on contract for a third season as Zendaya and Sweeney are now big stars.
There ya go, summed up all the drama behind it.

Do you think em dashes just means "dashes"? Because it's a very specific type of dash (the longest type) whereas the ones in OP's post are all clearly hyphens (the shortest type)
Hyphen: -
En dash: –
Em dash: —
You have to go to some deliberate effort to generate an em dash as it doesn't appear on a standard keyboard, which is why it's considered an indicator of AI. A hyphen is not considered an indicator of AI

Not on a Mac, it does it for you whether you want it or not, if you type - twice, like—this.
I've used them for years, but now I've had to stop (if I catch myself) because people just automatically assume it's AI. *How* AI uses them is very identifiable.

critique / b**** about my writing style - but now I will revert to my particular way of writing - and - so - here - are - some - more - hyphens - especially - for - you - lovelies - I get it if people don’t like my use of hyphens or my review and I didn’t know about the AI connection until someone really kindly educated me - but please consider in future if you see my use of hyphens - (which are clearly visible even if you only briefly scan my post) - and sure this is Listnook and the internet and maybe I am just not tough enough for it - but seriously why can you just not let people be if they are just different to you and not harming you or anyone else.
Thanks so much to those who have been kind to me regarding my use of hyphens.
