The funding comes at a critical time, as Islamabad faces a $3.5 billion repayment to the UAE this month, roughly 18% of its reserves. Pakistan's finance minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, said an existing $5 billion Saudi deposit would also be extended for an unspecified period.

UAE pressured pak to support them against Iran. Pak doesn't want that because Iran is it's next door neighbour. Since Saudi haven't enforced their defence pact with pak, and have been giving money to pak and waiting for good results of pak mediating between Iran and america, we can infer that they also want peace more than a full on scale war with Iran. Gulf countries don't have the same vision in the recent turn of events. UAE aligns with Israel and India. Saudi aligns with Pakistan and Turkey. Also worth mentioning Saudi and UAE were supporting completely different faction in Sudan.

You would be surprised by how much of the global economy is working like this. There is a reason the entire world is 305 trillion dollars in debt. The global economy is debt-driven

How do you think the US pays off any of its trillions of dollars in debt…?

technically speaking, the average person in pakistan is married to their cousin, so it's mostly the cousins

This is your miss understanding.. as stated by our cricket captain.. Pak is irrelevant to us... No competition.. entirely different priorities...we still might use Pak as a benchmark to see worst possible use cases results for different areas. nowhere else.

Ok_Incident2310 3 days ago -1
Yeah pak is irrelevant but will make a tons of movies on them. lol. I mean have some shame when you quote this. Don’t you guys get irony that you and other people like you literally commenting on this post and making movies on Pakistan and still have the audacity to quote a cringe statement from some athlete. lol.

The very existence of pak and its government, which is fully controlled by the military, hinges on the hatred of India. If you didn't have a big bad neighbor as a boogyman, you'd have to look inward. If you did, you would be looking at a country funded by loans, only because of the fact that if the current structure falls, the nukes will fall into the hands of extremists.

KSA is lending 3 billion dollars to Pakistan so it can pay back its existing loan to UAE , the timing is worth noting viz a viz conflict with Iran. It's so intriguing that the country is unable to pay back 3 billion dollars to UAE , but at the same time it's prominent politicians , army generals , officers , bureaucrats are able to own properties in UAE worth 12 billion dollars .

Just like your comment, including Islam/Muslim everywhere is the reason why Pakistan is in this position. Wish for a secular and democratic nation, and things will improve over time. Try to bring down the influence of religion and promote rational education.
28
HendoEndo 4 days ago +2
wishful thinking. the very reason pakistan was created was the belief that muslims will not be safe in a secular india. i’m not knocking on pakistan on this one, just pointing out the basis of their sovereignty
2
Shubham21Kumar 4 days ago +10
Leave that behind, stop teaching children the two-nation theory, it was never true to begin with. Work towards an officially secular constitution and society.
10
Lase189 4 days ago -7
Democracy isn't necessary but yes the country needs to be more secular for sure.
-7
Boyslop_Enjoyer 4 days ago +14
It is. Your Islamist military dictatorship is the root cause of all this.
14
Lase189 4 days ago -19
The military isn't Islamist, it just does what it needs to for our survival. Many people unfortunately are nutcases. That's why democracy solves nothing. Also we have India and Afghanistan, two religious extremist states that want our land as neighbors unfortunately. That's the primary reason we need a strong military.
-19
Boyslop_Enjoyer 4 days ago +15
>The military isn't Islamist, it just does what it needs to for our survival.  Lmfao what? Have you heard what your dear leader Munir says? He can't say one sentence without something about Jihad or Allah or Islam. >Also we have India and Afghanistan, two religious extremist states that want our land as neighbors unfortunately.  Compared to Pakistan, India might as well be Scandinavia. It has like 200 million Muslims. How many Buddhists, Hindus or Christians are left in Pakistan, again? Unless your country is demilitarized and a secular, democratic leadership is installed that has nothing to do with religion, it'll stay a country where people have to share syringes  https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clyrd818gd2o

You can live wherever you want, I don't give a damn about you. Wherever I do a comment your kin shows up uninvited. I don't want any engagement with your lot. And just so that you know, I am richer than 99% of India, my surroundings are much cleaner and I eat beef whenever I want.
-7
Shubham21Kumar 4 days ago +8
You have no answers, so you are deflecting. No one cares about how rich you are or where you live. It's about the living conditions of an average citizen, not saying India is perfect or anything.
8
Lase189 4 days ago -1
There can be no answers to your brigading. I did a generic comment and had no interest in engaging with 20 Indians here. The average Indian is not much better off than the average Pakistani, especially an Indian Muslim.
-1
Shubham21Kumar 4 days ago +5
No interest, yet you are replying again and again. Comparatively, India is doing better in pretty much all the indices, like HDI. Not where we want to be, but India is in the right direction. While for Pakistan, it's not true.

except our kin don’t turn up to shoot you, or suicide bomb you, do they mr richie rich from a country that needs billions in hand outs every few months?
7

They do actually. Your funded BLA and TTP terrorists have made life a lot harder for many people in Balochistan and KP. Handouts or not don't affect me in any way.

come i’ll accept indian funding to them. sure. pak army and isi agents have repeatedly been caught/found to have done terrorism first hand, not just in india btw

india is a religious extremist state with most muslims living here in the entire world. i mean, i don’t even have the words. india wants pakistani territory, when india has historically _lost_ territory to pakistani aggression. pakistan, which has repeatedly and proudly claimed “yes, we are the aggressors and will continue to be so” i guess all that dollar money really got this military dictatorship running some next level propaganda eh? for the record, i do have a lot of sympathy for the average joe in pakistan. starving, suffering, because of a corrupt military that takes us dollars to fight wars of its own creation, then retires in the UK in wealth while you all suffer
5
Lase189 4 days ago -1
The only thing I am suffering is your lot on listnook with the downvotes and your takes that come straight from BJP propaganda. Everything else is fine. And yes, just because you haven't killed all the Muslims doesn't mean you're a progressive state. It's not due to a lack of will. My family also owns property in the UK. Don't worry about me. It's just more comfy here.

HendoEndo 4 days ago +7
okay m8. as a desi bro online, stop fkn talking about your money please that’s fucked secondly, i don’t vote bjp. regardless, objectively speaking india being a big bad is propaganda and pakistan being some innocent doe is complete c*** i don’t expect you to not love or defend your country mate, but i never got personal about your shit did i?
7
Lase189 4 days ago
Okay I apologize about that. I am just so used to insults about being poor from Indians that this has become my go to response. I don't control state policy. I just said Pakistan needs to become a more moderate country like Malaysia.
0
Shubham21Kumar 4 days ago +5
Focus on your country, mate. Compared to Pakistan? India is in a far better situation. Constitutionally, in Pakistan, a non-Muslim cannot become a leader of the country. Pakistan calls itself the Islamic Republic, teaches the Two-Nation Theory to its students, and, mate, blasphemy laws exist in your country. A non-Islamist government will want to change such laws. Does Pakistan's military regime work on removing these? Not really. Tells you something, doesn't it?
5
Lase189 4 days ago
Did I say Pakistan was paradise? Nope. We can't be like Norway, we have to accept that. We have to focus on educating people to make them more moderate and we have to make the state stronger and more irreligious. The current army chief has taken some action against religious blackmailers like TLP. Ultimately we have to become a modern state because there's no future in becoming more like Afghanistan.
0
Shubham21Kumar 3 days ago +5
Claiming that Pakistan isn’t run by the military and Muslim nationalists is wrong. You need to accept that and focus on changing it. The army chief acted against the TLP because it challenged the regime, not because of its irrational or ultra-orthodox views. Promoting rational education and secular values is the job of a democratically elected civilian government, not army chiefs. I’m glad, however, that you acknowledge the influence of religion needs to decline in society if it is to achieve greater progress. In India, the BJP's use of religion to get votes also concerns me. So it's not like I am against Pakistan particularly; my views are the same for every country and society.
5
Shubham21Kumar 4 days ago +6
I know democracy is not perfect, but it is a necessity, in my opinion. There is a chance of being stuck with a bad/despotic ruler, as in Pakistan currently. In a democracy, there is at least an option of changing your leaders. People often don't choose the right leaders, as in India, but there is at least an option.
