‘Pakistan’s forums are their own; we didn’t participate’: Iran rejects mediation claim
Iran denies Pakistan's role as mediator with the United States. The West Asia conflict continues into its second month. Iran states no direct talks with the US are happening. Pakistan's mediation efforts face uncertainty. Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has significantly decreased. Iran is considering tighter control over the waterway. Military actions are intensifying across the region.

Pakistan's dilemma - Side with Saudi (and hence with Israel) or side with Iran (hence against their allies). I am sure they are pissing their pants and trying everything they can to avoid this.

In last 12 months Pakistan has fought wars with two of its neighbors. It is also an autocracy designed to run by army and dissidents are in jail. How would it ever have a credibility to become a neutral mediator when its own shit is not sorted?

They are not. They signed the defence agreement with Saudis a few months ago and the deal basically says attack on one is attack on another.

“Pakistan - Switzerland of the east” 😂😂 Switzerland has more chances of becoming like Pakistan than the other way around.

Pakistan was trying their best not to get involved in this conflict, should Saudi invoke their mutual defence pact. Pakistan's best outcome happens to align with quick de-escalation, otherwise they'll be forced to make some hard choices.

What if Pakistan says no to Saudi?

It will lose patronage. For a nation that is heavily relied on foreign funding and relief to keep its population fed, Pakistan can't really say 'No' without heavy repercussion in one way or another. If it says yes and joins the war against Iran, it will be going against it's masters in China. If it says no and breaks the pack, it will lose access to Saudi 'loans' and access to US.

Al Jazeera's ideology is "See Muslims-Support Muslims", and it claims to be liberal and progressive. My foot.

Any source of this other than Indian news? I generally take anything from Indian news on Pakistan with caution (and same vice versa).
