I’ll believe it when I see it though.

The terrorists are an authoritarian organization so no way they allow a real election.

The PA isn’t “that” bad. They’re the result of the more secular & rational branch within what used to be the PLO. They are acknowledged by Israel as the Palestinian’s representatives and acknowledge Israel in return. There is some form of cooperation between the two in the West Bank, with them even having their own zone (Zone A), controlled both administratively and military within it. and in another zone, they cooperate with Israel to be the administrative authority, while Israel has military authority. They’re not like Hamas, the religious terrorist nuts, and even had a lil civil war in Gaza when Hamas won the election. They’re corrupt, there’s a lot of tension with Israel, Israel accuses them of a terrorist attack every week, PA does the same, .. but they’re the framework you’re gonna need if you ever want a two state solution.

They just rewrote their constitution to define Palestine as an ethnically pure Arab state, and took the opportunity to mention that sharia law will be the basis for all legislation, and removed any semblance of protections for all other religions except for Christianity, which only seems to get a cursory mention as a religion with "status" (whatever that means), completely leaving out Judaism. They also officially have never abandoned their policy of "no Jewish state". Hamas and the PA have the same goals. The only difference is their strategies to achieve those goals: Hamas officially endorses violence ("resistance"), and the PA doesn't (at least on paper).

False - The PA endorses violence, codified by their "pay to slay' program. So, literally on paper endorsement of violence against Israelis.

That's why I said "at least on paper". In practice, of course they do. Conversely, Hamas talks about violence as an important means to achieve their goals directly in their declaration of principles.

I wonder how the people determine the candidates are there to represent them.

I'll believe it when it happens, and hopefully they'll elect someone who'll stop the "Pay to slay" policy

They ended in in 2025 as far as I recall.

The PA declared to do so in 2025, but [there is evidence that's still ongoing](https://www.euronews.com/2025/11/18/is-the-palestinian-martyrs-fund-still-operational)

Do you have anything more recent? It says that these days (Nov 25) delegation is in Brussels to present the proof.

This is the most recent article I found, from [February 6th, 2026](https://www.mideastjournal.org/post/did-pay-to-slay-finally-stop)

Good. Just make sure you don't kill the opposition parties and then stop elections

Likely only symbolic, but I'm rooting for them because I like democracy.
