I just wrapped up Season 2 of Paradise last night and wow! I didn’t expect to get this invested in the show, but here we are. It’s honestly become one of my favorites in a while. I enjoyed season 1, but LOVED season 2.
Trying to keep this spoiler-free, but I feel like the storytelling, pacing, and character development really stepped up this season. That finale especially had me just staring at my screen like “…okay, now what?”
Annie (Shailene Woodley’s character) might’ve stolen the show for me. She had big “I’m calm but also one inconvenience away from chaos” energy, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Curious what others think… did Season 2 live up to the hype for you? Better than Season 1? And without spoilers… did the ending land for you?
I read the creator meant it to be a 3 season show, so next season is likely the last and I am definitely looking forward to seeing how it goes.
Fun, absolutely. Great is a stretch. It's occasionally amazing, with season 1 episode 7 being the show at its best but it's a little all over the place and playing things pretty loosey-goosey (intentionally).

I'm finding season 2 to.really drag in comparison to season 1. I was fully invested in season 1

Both seasons had fantastic, dramatic episodes relating to the "event". Both were riveting and made each season they were in.

Season 1 is far superior. Season 2 ending was so rushed. Corny slop with bad dialogue and stunted character arcs. Surprised people think it’s good.

You could use this to describe most of season 1 too.

I enjoyed Season 1, but yeah, that tracks. I genuinely think that had the seventh episode of the first season not been so unbelievably good, this show would've disappeared. I watched it solely for all the hype that episode got and it f****** delivered! I was midlly hoping it was a trick and that going forwards, the rest of the show would keep that level of quality and tension, but nope...went right back to 'network television show quality but they can show sex and swearing'.

They seem like they wanted to go bigger but the story was so luckluster and unpolished

Bit off more than they could chew. I think it could have been really good with 12 episodes.

The reaction to this show is interesting to me. Let me just say I've watched both seasons all the way through, and I mostly enjoy the show. That being said, any criticism of the show is met with an overwhelming response by fans shouting it down. I feel like I live in a different reality from these people, because like, to me the show is mid, but it seems like 50% of the population loves it like their all time favorite.
Things I like:
The performances are pretty good. Woodley and Marsters in particular. Shame these characters don't get more time.
The sci-fi is fun as long as you suspend your disbelief. I'm legitimately curious how the story is going to play out
Things I dislike:
The writing is generally terrible. Dialogue is bad and characters are frequently in contrived or baffling situations.
The music is awful. Like, maybe the worst I can think of. If I have to hear "Just another day in Paradise" one more time I'm going to quit watching altogether. Bro, I know the song has the word "Paradise" in it, but you can use other songs.

I don’t like S2 anywhere near as much as S1. Even S1 felt like poor man’s Silo, though.

>!I liked the season but it’s just in the end shilling AI’s capacity well beyond what it can remotely do. Almost as if chatgpt and claude and whatever paid for AI to be the solution for everything. I was really enjoying season 2 till the final episode glazing AI. Makes it so some stupid little hardware some kid came up with in class was already the most powerful sentience on the planet. When in reality it all takes data centers and way more than a 2 foot tower. Ended up just being AI propaganda.!<
>!Companies now can fire people due to financial reasons. But instead claim it’s due to AI to boost stock valuation. When in reality the AI is nowhere near as effective as they claim!<

Yeah, my homie text me like “bro, call me when you finish it” haha. I already had an inkling they were headed in a fantastical direction bc of the ending of the last episode lol. Yeah, this finale definitely felt shoehorned haha. Had they hinted at it earlier I would’ve been on board but it doesn’t feel earned just dropping a bomb on me like that lol.
I could be wrong but it “screams” we had another ending and the show got popular so we’re gonna ride this lightning until it runs out lol.

Not the ENTIRE season basically screaming that this was a time travel show? It was incredibly unsubtle.

Like with Silo (similar premise), S1 was great and S2 meandered a bit but I enjoyed both overall and look forward to s3 of each regardless

They had a good premise and use every trope in the book in the worst possible way on top of bad dialogue. So many bad and over the top cliche moments

The dialogue is a bit cheesy and from reminiscent from 1990s series. The exposition bits were more interesting to me but the soap drama dialogue doesn't really land. Perhaps the writers were more concerned about the big themes and considered the character dialogue as necessary filler afterthought.

Show goes for entertainment over story/dialogue. It succeeds on that level. I wouldn't call it a great show but I do think it's one I enjoy watching.

I love this show! When the finale was halfway through I was convinced it would be the end of it. I’m interested to see how season 3 goes. I will absolutely watch and most likely enjoy it but it does seem to be likely be taken in a much different direction.

Did the season just end or did they spend all their listnook ad money on today? Weird to see multiple posts in one day about it

I thought Season 2 started out good. A little slow, but I was into it. Then it got all weird in the second half of the season.

Agree with other comments.
S2 first half was SO good, then turned into slop, basically. Still entertaining, but definite dip in quality the second half.
I’ll be ready to move on after S3, glad they’re stopping there.

It’s the same saccharine horseshit This Is Us was.
I’m not into it, my wife enjoys it though.

The story telling is almost identical to This Is Us. It’s almost distracting in its similarities. I know it’s the same dude, but cmon.

Just great television. I don't think many have been surprised by the big reveals. Some get them a bit sooner, but I don't think many are surprised, but you still love getting there.
They're leaving hints all over the place. A rewatch will be like playing Pokemon, got to catch'em all.

The reaction to this show on listnook is interesting because a lot of people here think it's slop and hate season 2, but this season has better user reviews than the first season. I think listnook is in an echo chamber in regards to this show. Most people who actually watch it seem to think season 2 was better, and I agree.

I think it's good entertaining slop, but slop nonetheless. It's pulpy schlock disguised as prestige TV. It rocks if you don't think about it too much. You can nitpick the hell out of it and pick about some holes but the show is designed for entertainment factor more than story factor. Kinda reminds me of my experience watching 24.

I mean I wouldn't call it prestige TV, but calling it slop is insane to me. Agree to disagree.

The first season was an absolute joke. One episode was great and the rest seemed to have been written by toddlers on meth.
I've not bothered with season 2 but I'll get round to it later when I want a good laugh.
