honestly i'm with her on this.. the estate has been super sketchy with michael's money since he died and paris deserves to know where it's all going.

I think it is pretty obvious that Paris has been wrong in every instance, hence why she keeps paying their legal fees. They are doing exactly what MJ entrusted them to do, and that is grow the estate while making his kids the beneficiaries. She can disagree with this movie all she wants, but she never had a say in the decision, is unaware with just how expensive reshoots costs and can’t reconcile that the film will make a lot of money.

I remember when Michael died they posted some parts of the will. Basically he wanted his family out of it. Even had specific stipulations that if his mother used his money for anyone else but his kids, she would be cut off. I think that's why Paris acts this way.

Films don’t make a lot of money. What this does is boost play time royalties

This one might. Plus I am sure it already has streaming rights sold at high rates. Thats how they recoup money nowadays.

This one will likely make quite a bit even if it’s mid or maybe even bad. We’ll see but to say films don’t make a lot of money is too broad when you’re talking about something specific in this case being a movie about arguably the most famous and beloved pop singer of all time. But yeah movies are always a risk so who knows

If you follow things like actors that take cuts etc. unless they are getting cuts of gross. Creative financials just eats it up. Theaters only het 10% of the first weeks. They do better with films that last (we had a few including zootopia). This film is not huge to produce but it solids like it’s pushing $100m Then add on advertising and distribution for another $100m. That means the film has to do $300m globally. That’s a stretch for almost any film. These bio films have not been doing that. Jackson was the king though. So maybe.

This is generally incorrect pretty much at all levels. Films may not make money back on release, but between the licensing of the movies, merchandise, related promotions and advertising etc. Pretty much all films make their money back, it’s just a matter of time. Specifically a movie like this one is actually pretty much guaranteed to be profitable because even if the movie doesn’t break even you can almost guarantee that the music will go up on stream.

Why aren’t his children in charge of the estate now anyway? They’re all over 18 now anyway. Super weird that his lawyer and accountant are still in charge of it and can’t explain the “premium” attorney fees.

Beneficiaries are usually not Trustee. Especially on large, complicated trusts like Michaels.

It’s very likely protected in trusts which the kids are beneficiaries too. Trust allow you to set up rules for who can access the money, how the money is used and offer huge tax advantages (zero inheritance tax). The money is overseen by a trustee who works at a large banking institution. They help prevent kids from blowing their inheritances or using it for things the person who made the trust wouldn’t support (drugs, risky investments, etc). Beneficiaries are never allowed to be the trustee of their own trust, by law it always has to be a third party.

> Why aren’t his children in charge of the estate now anyway? Maybe because their dad did not trust them with his money or to run it. Jacksons estate is essentially a highly profitable licensing business run by lawyers. His kids are not suited to run that. So they were not selected as trustees by by their father when he wrote his will. > can’t explain the “premium” attorney fees. It is explained. Those fees were paid to other law firms who made the debt into a huge profit.

Weren’t his children all very young when their father died? While Michael Jackson left a will, he likely didn’t envision his own sudden death, especially as his final concert tour was supposed to enrich him greatly.

> he likely didn’t envision his own sudden death While your probably not wrong, the purpose of a will is to plan for unforeseen events. Paris is still just 27 and was 11 when Michel died. She is just listening to one group of lawyers tell her how she might make more money from another group of lawyers.

So they were not selected as trustees by by their father when he wrote his will. Exactly, but from what I remember the Estate (or at least the majority of it) should pass to them once the oldest of his kids turns 40

They’ve likely embezzled a ton of money and are now doing everything they can to hold onto their positions.

I haven’t slept much in the past 8 days and read this over and over as Peter Jackson. Couldn’t figure out what the hairy foot botherer’s beef was.

Dude I’m glad I’m not the only one. I was imagining this guy consistently being Team Beatles, even for things that didn’t have anything to do with them

" over the upcoming biopic Micheal, about her father Michael Jackson."   They spelled his name wrong in the title?  As someone named MichAEL, people spelling it it MichEAL is annoying

How many years has it been? Why hasnt estate been dissolved and assets distributed to his heirs? Or is it a trust they call estate?

So is Michael's estate never going to close and property moved to the heirs
