Such a slept on show (off of Listnook, at least).
If you find "turbo encabulator" funny, combined with some decent music and a really good mixture of spy action and comedy, check out Patriot.

If you watch this show and just don't get it, congratulations, you don't have PTSD or depression. The best depiction of depression I have ever seen. John gets pummeled from every angle all day long. His expressionless reactions show how used to it he is. He's well past the Vantasner Meridian.

I don't have PTSD or depression and I f****** loved this show and thought it was an incredibly portrayal of both an individual struggling with trauma, but also a macro examination of what a "civilised" country is willing to do to its "sons", literally in this case, to achieve its strategic goals. I think you just have to be a human with empathy willing to engage thoughtfully with media instead of just rotting in front of it to get it.

Sell them on the structure. You can talk about it with confidence. Keep it simple. A little something like this, John:
‘Hey. Let me walk you through the Donnelly nut spacing and crack system rim-riding rip configuration. Using a field of half-C sprats, and brass-fitted nickel slits, our bracketed caps, and splay-flexed brace columns, vent dampers to dampening hatch depths of one half meter from the damper crown to the spur of plinth. How? Well, we bolster twelve husked nuts to each girdle-jerry, while flex tandems press a task apparatus of ten vertically-composited patch-hamplers. Then, pinflam-fastened pan traps at both maiden-apexes of the jim-joist.’
A little something like that, Lakeman.

Man, Michael Dorman always delivers. While he gets roles, I think he's one of the more underrated actors in television. Between this and Joe Pickett (FAMK is a different scenario), his shows don't get a long enough run.
12
Copy_Of_The_GMar 31, 2026

Joe Pickett is one of my favorite westerns of all time. It's the perfect antithesis of the 'Yellowstone' machismo and grandeur and does it with a pacing and cinematic eye that harkens back to the spaghetti westerns of yesteryear. Also fun watching a MC get the shit end of the stick more than he comes out a w*****, but it makes rooting for him all the more fun, and the payoff when he prevails so much more gratifying. Highly recommend for anyone who likes a good noir/western mashup.

I honestly had pre mixed feelings on that generally. I thought there was a weird tonal shift where their interactions with the Romani kid and laughingly beating up the USA cops had a really dark vibe. It really threw me for the tail end of the show.

For sure the later part of the episode once the consequences of John's actions on the job start catching up to him things take a downturn, but I felt that was the point. In the bar where they dance and everyone let's down their guard they all get a brief reprieve and that was the point I found so endearing.

I know I am outlier here, but the show hooked me at first, but quickly it became completely unwatchable.
I have noticed Listnook will fall in love with shows with beautiful cinematography, but no substance behind it.
-2
MichaelMyersEatsDogsApr 1, 2026
+7
No substance? It’s about a massively depressed spy with PTSD and how corrupt and ineffective the intelligence community is. Not to mention the themes of fathers and sons that permeates throughout
But anyone who couches their opinion in what they feel “Listnook” does or says isn’t a serious person. It’s a way for you to feel superior based on taste rooted in narcissism because you can’t fathom something you don’t personally enjoy could be good. It’s lazy and more important ignorant as shit. You are part of Listnook. You are no better than anyone else here. Having a minority opinion doesn’t change that
