"Going global"? What does that even mean?

A bunch of shadow fleet tankers have had little problem slipping through the blockade. I take this to mean that instead of being home free once they slip the blockade, tankers can now be boarded and seized anywhere and any time after having slipped.

Soooo… piracy.
1
MattC1977 9 hr ago +1
Get a dictionary.
1
cyb3rg0d5 9 hr ago +1
*Piracy is an act of robbery or criminal violence by ship or boat-borne attackers upon another ship or a coastal area, typically with the goal of stealing cargo and valuable goods, or taking hostages. Those who conduct acts of piracy are called pirates, and vessels used for piracy are called pirate ships.*

Now it’s official. Before that there was no problem and the straight was definitely open, if you were ok with the occasional drone or mine.

April 10: >US President Donald Trump has said allies must find a solution within days to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. April 24: >"No one sails from the Strait of Hormuz to anywhere in the world without the permission of the United States Navy," he said. In two weeks we went from all NATO countries \_must\_ find a solution to open up one of the most important shipping lanes in the world - a problem the US created -, to the US now itself blocking one of the most imporant shipping lanes in the world. So uh, what else happened in your life in the last two weeks?

Fast-Satisfaction482 10 hr ago -59
The US are not blockading the straight of hormuz, they are blocking Iran's harbors.

takesthebiscuit 10 hr ago +1
Which in turn is causing Iran to block the strait, which is causing USA to blockade Iran linked ships

Shouldn't the cause precede the effect? USA and Israel tried to topple Iran with no real plan and no real goal. Then went Pikachu face when for the tenth time in history air raids alone did not topple a regime. Iran doing their "punish everyone if you can't make the US suffer" and blockade approach seemed to work for a few weeks. But the American blockade of Iran is the response to the Iranian blockade of the straight.

1

To further alienate the US, embarrass itslef even more and make Russia richer allowing them to continue their illegal war. Also allowing Israel to attack Iran. It's all going swimmingly.

Adavanter_MKI 11 hr ago +53
I swear if the next president doesn't apologize to the world on day one. It's the least we can do as a first step to try and repair relations. To acknowledge what we did under the Trump regime was unhinged self destruction. We know it was bad for us and bad for world. What can you do? We're a democracy. Sometimes stupidity wins. *Twice.*
53
Thagyr 10 hr ago +1
Honestly? I care less about apologies and more about how Americas "checks and balances" get reimplemented with f****** teeth. Anything than just let things stay the same for the next Trump to surface. Don't be sorry. Be *better*
1
Degn101 9 hr ago +1
Wholeheartedly agree. Words dont help prevent this from happening again, and the only way to restore faith in America is to show that you guys are willing to implement checks that will actually work. Oh, and of course, going after all the tax dollars that have been stolen by all the criminals in and around your current administration
1
glu3cifer 10 hr ago +14
At this point that'd be the equivalent of the South Park skit of the BP guy apologising for the oil spill tbh. Gonna take decades to rebuild the reputation you had before this shitshow.
14
NotSoNiceO1 10 hr ago +1
The damage will take a long time to repair. Why would the world trust the US again? It takes 4 years to repeat this BS
1
theflickingnun 10 hr ago +1
I fear the damage the US has done to itself will be too damning to repair. You seen the rest of the world has been making new alliances, new trades, new forces. Politicians know that the US cannot be relied upon, so they simply wont even make deals in good faith. This might actually be the end for the US as you know it.
1
Ippzz 11 hr ago +22
Imo apologizing is fine but what I really hope is that you guys bring them before a jury because they can't be that bad without some form of corruption from a foreign entity. The fact that there wasn't any conséquences after Jan 6th because the Dems were too cowards to be rough really messed up the law and order and from there it went south pretty quickly. Don't repeat the same mistake plz.

_larsr 11 hr ago +15
On day one the next president needs to send Trump, Kegsbreath, et al to the International Criminal Court, where US self-pardons don't matter.
15
TemporarySun314 10 hr ago +11
Americans don't accept the ICC and decided they would rather invade the Netherlands than allowing them to prosecute Americans... At the moment the US is sanctioning the ICC and its judges personally, for doing their jobs...

I would rather not have the US invade my country under their terrorist “The Hague Invasion Act”. They can put them on trial on their own soil. The world is suffering enough from its mess already.
1
kraeutrpolizei 11 hr ago +3
No chance in hell. The US is way to exceptional to apologise to anyone!

The USA is a global joke, theyve lost all of their credibility, they are the laughing stock of the entire planet now because it was their own citizens that voted for this asshat as president.
1
Initial-Return8802 10 hr ago +1
At least the Russian's have some excuse...they don't vote/voting is rigged as f***
1

Sounds like a really poor excuse people can tell themselves to avoid making changes... They are just as bad!
1
Captain_Futile 9 hr ago +1
Not really. You are a global joke because one third of you would not lift their fat asses from the sofa to vote for anyone, and now you are held hostage by 70 million morons.

Sorry-Climate-7982 10 hr ago +1
Hey why not? Apparently almost completely ineffective in one tiny little strait, so lets go global. Warrior mentality rules. Wonder how many highballs this brilliant idea took.

It sounds like some ships have been turning off their transponders and sneaking past the US blockade of Iran. I can only assume US is attempting to track those Iranian ships and use other assets to intercept them on their way to china or where ever they are going. For example, the US has 50-70 navy ships near japan (based in japan?) That it could use to intercept Iranian ships that made it past the blockade. https://www.factcheckradar.com/fact-check/dozens-of-iran-linked-tankers-bypass-u-s-naval-blockade

> "No one sails from the Strait of Hormuz to anywhere in the world without the permission of the United States Navy" Translation: Iran, China, Russia are allowed to pass. The rest of the world - no.

1
Brutl 10 hr ago +1
Ah yes, take this war....to the WORLD. Now we'll just need a catchy name for this new war. I hear once a name starts to get used a bunch, it starts losing its meaning, so we should probably stick to a name that's only been used like once...maybe twice before...

I just saw on What's Going on With Shipping a claim that Iranian vessels can sometimes uses Pakistani and Indian territorial waters; therefore, if the United States wants to enforce this blockade, they indeed might have to go all the way to near Malaysia to interdict a vessel.
1
I_am___The_Botman 10 hr ago +1
The US does the best blockade. So translating into insecure egotistical moron talk this probably means they can't keep the blockade up.

1
Bodster88 10 hr ago +1
I have a hunch the US are coming to the realisation that a lot of the world give zero fucks about the straight of Hormuz as we don’t see oil as our collective future. Yes, we will go through pain - but we will come out the other side stronger. Meanwhile the US and Middle East will become less relevant in the decades to come. Hence they (the US) are becoming more deranged and effectively shouting at themselves.
