Republicans see God as a wish granting genie and the way they pray feels like they’re trying to summon him
As someone who went to church as a kid and was always told praying and faith in general shouldn’t be a spectacle it seems so weird

MAGA: "I pray for overwhelming violence!"
God: "Granted."
\*hundreds of marines die, and there's another 9/11\*

He does. Old Testament god was a colossally violent, petulant, petty b****, and that's who they worship.
They sure never paid any mind to the philosophy of Jesus.

Old Testament God also told those violent, petulant, petty bitches to keep his name out of their bullshit (Exodus 20:7), but they're just ignoring that commandment along with several others.
If they had faith or wisdom they'd know not to try Him.

1
Lopsided-Rough-1562Mar 26, 2026
+5
Ok I looked into that out of curiosity and it was a fig tree? And he was mad that it wasn't the time of the year when the tree would have had fruit on it so he cursed it and it died.
He then went to the temple to overturn all the merchant tables.
But I'm curious why he got ass mad at a tree for it not being the right season? This makes him look like a fool.
5
RazzleThatTazzleMar 26, 2026
+3
Whoops fig not olive, youre right.
Like almost everything in the bible, its a metaphor. He is mad at the tree for not bearing fruit. Which is a metaphor for the religious institution at the time not practicing Judaism the way jesus wanted them to.
Which is fine. But I dont get why they had it in the wrong season lol. Just say that it WAS the growing season, but the fruit still wasnt being produced. Feels like an unforced error to me
3
Lopsided-Rough-1562Mar 26, 2026

Heh yeah if there was a problem with the tree causing it to not bear fruit in the correct season, then it doesn't feel like one of those things where someone doesn't get their way so they kick their car or something.

Anyone remember Mark Twain's satirical "War Prayer" (c. 1904)? Some of it:
O Lord our God,help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead;help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain... help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief... for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love...

It's the old testament. Anyone who deviates from the cult dogma is exterminated in the old testament. Every single atrocity is glorified in the old testament. This is not about Jesus. This is the wrath of god on perceived heretics. Anyone who strays from dogmatic devotion is an enemy.
All of Genesis is a template for this genocide. He is following Genesis perfectly.
This is the exact approach he will take to secularists and moderate diests in America when they are designated domestic terrorists.
He is showing exactly how he will attack secularism in America. No mercy. No quarter. Full old testament theocracy in the image Charlie Kirk had for America. Bodies piled high in honor of god's dogma.
They believe they are anointed by God.

This is American Christianity. People will go the 'no true Christian' or 'imperfect vessel' route, but there has been no debate or fight of any kind on a national level inside of that religion while the cancer of hate and oppression spread like wildfire through the church. How many deaths is enough for Christians?
