As a Canadian I was hoping he’d finish Iran first before starting his next war. Cause the way I see it, it goes Venezuela->Iran->Cuba->Greendland->Canada With the Greenland/Canada order subject to change. I was hoping he wouldn’t have time to get to Canada during his presidency but now I’m not sure. Edit: after Canada is Mexico then the Vatican

And if the referendum *did* actually happen, the result would be a resounding "no." They've drunk their own kool-ade if they think otherwise. I suspect they don't actually care about the referendum itself, it's red meat for their base simply talking about it.

Invest heavily in drones. Iran has shown where the weak spot is. Exploit it.
129
HorsePork Apr 16, 2026 +93
Canada recently announced nearly a billion investment into Bombardier (leading Canadian aerospace company) for making/researching drones.
93
ThirdSunRising Apr 16, 2026 +67
Sounds cool but I have concerns about the supplier. Bombardier makes airplanes and the development cycle time for planes is stupid long compared to that of drones. If Boeing made drones they would cost $600k each and the first ones would show up in ten years. It’s almost better to have a random Vancouver startup do it so they’d have an appetite for risk and, consequently, high speed
67
alwaysleafyintoronto Apr 16, 2026 +15
They also make trains and snow machines and ATVs. I'm sure they can figure out how to make drones too.
15
Rokea-x Apr 16, 2026 +27

What benefit does this actually serve average Americans? MAGA is cheering that we are taking oil, but what benefit have we actually seen from that. The oil executives may get richer and Trump’s friends might line their pockets, but Americans haven’t seen squat.
1899
FireFistMihawk Apr 16, 2026 +741
My Maga coworkers literally celebrate all the oil we're taking from Venezuala as some massive victory, yet home heating oil has gone up by over $1.5/gallon in my area and gas prices are over $4 right now when they were under $3 just a couple months ago. How in tf these people think they're winning is beyond me, but I guess there's no understanding genuine idiocy.
741
Lunar_BriseSoleil Apr 16, 2026 +521
The USA is taking zero oil from Venzuela. Its an oil exporting country and is self-sufficient. American oil companies are making money in Venezuela, but they’re selling the oil to Asia.
521
FireFistMihawk Apr 16, 2026 +158
Tell that to my coworkers cus they tell me everyday we're, as in we the people, are swimming in fine rich Venezuelan crude.
158
phoenixmusicman Apr 16, 2026 +104

MAGA don't think. I mean **at all**.
86
IJustBoughtThisGame Apr 16, 2026 +62
The US is not self-sufficient. We use 20 million barrels of oil per day and we "only" produce 13.6 million barrels per day. We're a net exporter of total petroleum products overall but that includes everything made from oil and not just oil itself. For crude oil specifically, we still import more than we export. The same goes for gasoline. That's why our gas, diesel, and goods on store shelves will continue to rise for the foreseeable future because we can't make enough of it for ourselves. Even if we could produce 20 million barrels per day domestically, our refining capacity tops out around 18.4 million barrels per day and around 60% of that is dedicated to heavy crude which is not the kind we produce domestically. This is why we export 4 million+ barrels per day of our own stuff already because it'd just sit there piling up otherwise.

Good thing the Government is investing heavily on alternative energy sources to get the required amount lower .. oh wait
48

They're not going to oppose Trump until their voters pressure them to do so. Ultimately change is going to have to start with the people. So far the electorate has shown a clear majority which either supports Trump or cannot be bothered to vote against him. America has to chose to not be fascist, and hasn't yet made that choice.

I agree. They’re acting like Trump‘s personal bodyguards instead of defending the constitution. But now they’re out here doing the most unconstitutional shit. I don’t wanna hear a peep out of them 20 years from now when they start complaining and crying when they become inevitably discarded. The Iraq war and Vietnam war vets are perfect example. Only difference is the propaganda back then was much more effective.
38
payne6 Apr 16, 2026 +11
I remember the Afghanistan and Iraq war and patriotism was (in the beginning at least) at a all time high. I still remember a kid I went to school with bragging he punched a classmate for refusing to stand during the pledge because "this is America." I have noticed now a lot of I would say millennials and younger do not care about the country or troops at all. If anything I've been seeing Gen Z and Alpha posting memes about fragging their commanders and posting radio Hanoi on social media or blasting it at the troops while they walk the cities. Feels like the unironic America f*** yeah support the troops is dying really quickly. But I do agree with you if we make it out of this I don't want to hear the troops crying because they leveled 5 city blocks to a country that posed no threat to us.

Trump would last about 10 seconds into game of risk before flipping the table over, telling you he’s won, and then spending the next 5 hours “truthing” about how he never even cared about the game in the first place. The next day he would “truth” that he beat your ass so hard at the game that you had to run home crying.  Art of the deal.

If you view this through the lens of him being a Russian asset intent on weakening America as much as humanly possible, his actions make a lot more sense.

Can we just have a general strike if they keep this up? Honestly, we need to fight back. They can’t just ignore the Constitution and murder innocent civilians. Voting is not enough.
125
Oberon_Swanson Apr 16, 2026 +86
American workers could gain SO FRIGGIN MUCH from a one month general strike. You would not believe how fast the "untouchable oligarchs" fold. The things other countries have, are extremely feasible to have, but the powers that be only want to give as little as they can get away with and take everything else for themselves. Let them get away with less and you can have more.

Let me guess, because Obama nearly normalized relations with Cuba during his tenure?
65
TheKappaOverlord Apr 16, 2026 +34
Obama normalized relations, but relations don't really mean much because the country even under obama still wasn't allowed, or assisted in economically trying to recover. It was just taking the eyeglass beam off of the ant. The ant is still badly burned. Trump is just putting the eyeglass beam back on to let the sun 'finish the job'

MIT_Engineer Apr 16, 2026 +8
I think this one is less about a knee-jerk response to Obama and more about the wild success of the "Shove Maduro into the Back of a Van" operation. Everyone in his inner circle who was pro-Operation Free Candy Van now has his ear, and anyone who was against it is in out in the cold. Basically anything that Marco Rubio and Pete Hegseth can agree on is gonna get greenlit.

I'd argue that it's nothing new for US. I mean, he's spectacularly dismantling all illusion, but honestly, US being good guys is image created exclusively by Hollywood, without that propaganda how can anyone seriously claim that US is anything but evil? At this point it's just regular occurrence, a documented pattern of overthrowing governments and bombing countries to secure geopolitical dominance. You only need to look at the timeline. The CIA orchestrated the removal of democratically elected leaders in Iran in 1953 and Guatemala in 1954 just to protect corporate profits and resource monopolies. Then came the millions of civilian casualties from carpet bombing Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the US government backed brutal regimes across South America, including funding the military coup that installed Augusto Pinochet in Chile and illegally arming the Contras in Nicaragua. In modern times, the strategy shifted to the Middle East. The 2003 invasion of Iraq was launched on completely fabricated evidence of weapons of mass destruction, leading to massive destabilization. In 2011, military intervention in Libya toppled the government and left the nation destroyed. Now the world is seeing the exact same playbook unfold with the 2026 military campaign against Iran. None of this is hidden history. It is a consistent foreign policy built on violence and economic exploitation.

geft Apr 16, 2026 +15
Don't forget the CIA also installed a dictator in Indonesia. If you google the most corrupt president in recent history his name shows up.

The thing is, the Epstein files are probably horrific but obviously will just confirm much of what we already suspect. Drumpf is a pedophile, potentially responsible for the deaths of children, trafficked children out of Mar-a-Lardo, raped children and adults.. The lives lost in these unjustified and illegal invasions and extrajudicial killings are not the distraction the bloated orange puddingbrain thinks they are. They are war crimes. War crimes which he, or all of us, will one day pay a price for. They won't make us stop demanding the complete and unredacted files be released. They'll just make us demand the complete and unredacted files be released *and* the idiot and his cabinet be arrested and prosecuted for war crimes.

"The directives appear to be an escalation of recent tensions between the U.S. and Cuba that began in January when the Trump administration curbed oil shipments to Cuba as part of a broader campaign to force sweeping political changes on the communist-run island" What did Cuba do to earn a blockade against them?

Learned helplessness is a factor, having a non-responsive government is another, non-stop right wing propaganda campaigns, etc. Maybe those aren't good enough reasons for you, but it isn't for no reason.

This is not funny. Trump must be curtailed. What is the Constitutional way? It's not funny, it's worrying. Ukraine, no support. Venezuela, kidnapped the president, Iran, negotiating then extra judicial killing. The list is endless. He's mad, bad and dangerous. UK.

We can’t afford to pay attention (let alone anything else), and we are going to engage in ridiculously expensive military operations in two counties? All while we (supposedly) can’t afford childcare, the social safety net, or anything else designed to support the working class citizens of this country. But we have money for war… and stupid ball rooms, and architecture honoring a still in office (and worst in history) president. Hundreds of billions for immigration and customs enforcement… no controls on AI while it ravages the work force. Hundreds of thousands of government workers jobs eliminated, the dismantling of our constitutional rights, international relations in shambles, higher prices through stupid tariffs and unnecessary military action. I’d take Biden in full blown dementia over this nightmare. If you believe for one second Drumpf cares about you… you’re stupid, or ignorant… Or both. This is insane. Someone, please… show these imbeciles the door.
