Iran’s security counsel secretary has explicitly said to expect a 9/11 level incident that is blamed on Iran and that Iran’s fight isn’t with the general American population.
Then when Hegseth said Iran’s leaders are hiding he hit Hegseth with:

Marandi is a good choice for a spokesperson. He’s personable, clearly well-educated, and funny.
I think that it’s important to remember that he is also delivering Iran’s official line - in other words, propaganda. That doesn’t mean he is lying per se, but if dos mean everything he says needs to go through the same filter as any propaganda you knowingly consume.
Edit: Some confused genocide supporters are taking this as support for their obscene crimes against humanity. I don’t support your genocide, assholes. Don’t speak to me.

Never was going to. Trump's bullshit comments were just to try and calm the market down. They went into this mess half cocked and now their ego won't let them walk away, made worse by the fact that Iran will probably never negotiate again after this bullshit.
They actively made us more unsafe and have tried to walk this stupid tight rope of "fighting a war" and "but not sending troops because of political unpopularity." But now that they're getting f****** battered, their egos bruised, and Israel is in potentially deep shit, they're going to suck it up and eventually put the boots on the ground.

There are 2 possible routes now: Massive ground invasion, long-term occupation and insurgency; or withdraw with the regime still in place, their uranium still in the country somewhere, and the regime unlikely to negotiate ever again and very likely to sprint to develop a nuke as fast as possible. No matter which way it goes the entire planet will be less safe and energy will be more expensive for years to come because of this stupid bullshit. All to protect a war criminal and a rapist.

It took my father over 20 years to be approved for 100% disability after retiring from the military in 2002. He served in desert storm and desert shield. Was stationed in korea.
While in the military he tore BOTH Achilles tendons, lost majority of his hearing and since retiring has had about 9 separate surgeries in the last 20 years on his spine and neck from degenerative discovered disease that is linked to chemical exposure soldiers suffered. Especially during his time while stationed at an american base on american soil. The base is Ft McClellan and has been the center of lawsuits for over 50 years now as hazardous chemicals were improperly stored and dumbed on base since the end of the world wars...
After retiring after 21 years of service, he still had to work full time in factory and security jobs while his bones were literally crumbling.
He was literally not approved for 100% disability until February 2025. More than 20 years after retiring due to his body falling apart.
The point of this story is that care for our veterans has only gotten worse since my dad retired. The soldiers who served in the Iraq/Afghanistan war are still fighting for their care and benefits as republicans have spent decades now voting against VA funding. And with how things are going, what kind of care does anyone expect the veterans of this war to receive?

I know of plenty of Global War on Terror veterans that took their own lives. Mental health treatment is already a mess in this country. Add combat trauma into the mix and it's a godawful situation. We're not even a decade away from GWOT and Trump started his own long war.

Standard unfortunately. The VA was not designed for the volume of new people eligible for service after Iraq/Afghanistan.
DOD always drags its feet on disability claims and it takes years and years until they acknowledge that soldiers were knowingly exposed to harmful substances with no/improper safety gear and no warning.
My uncle was in Laos/Cambodia/Vietnam from 1968-1975. He was repeatedly exposed to Agent Orange in the field during his time in service.
He had his annual PSA exam but still developed an incredibly aggressive form of prostrate cancer which metastasized in less than a year to his abdominal cavity several years ago.
Oncologist at NYU said he had seen that before in Vietnam vets who were likely exposed to Agent Orange repeatedly. Very aggressive form of prostrate cancer you almost never catch in time.
DOD dragged its feet for years before they would give any disability claims on Agent Orange and even then fought tooth and nail against anyone who didn’t have clear and direct prolonged exposure.
They have done the same thing with Gulf War syndrome from ‘91 & the burn pits and service personnel that developed mysterious illnesses as well in Iraq.

If we can’t afford to pay for our service members to have healthcare after fighting in our wars, maybe we can’t afford the wars. But all the politicians care about is how much the missiles will cost. I doubt there’s hardly anything in the $200B the administration is asking for earmarked for healthcare needs, although I’d always love to be proven wrong.

Imperialism dehumanizes not only the people receiving the bombs, but the people firing the guns. It turns soldiers into tools.

Yeah, those 2500 were Okinawa based. Adding the navy and airforce could be in the tens of thousands of Us military personnel already engaged in this war.

You are 100% correct. It always irks me when media publications underreport deployment numbers by excluding all the logistical support staff that will be going over also. Is it an accurate statement to say 3k of the 82nd will deploying, sure, but it sure is misleading.

Infantry accounts for a small portion of modern warfare. If i included all support personnel, maybe 100 thousand or more personnel involved, from maintenance crews, central command, etc. logistics, cooks. When the pentagon asks for 200 billion dollars they arent joking lol.

A hallmark of MAGA is being a coward. They like to talk and act tough while being afraid of literally everything.

If/when there are terrorist attacks on US soil, it will no doubt be because "Sleepy Joe let in zillions of r*** gangs and asylum terrorists" and not because Trump is a f****** d***** who has pissed off the entire world by cosplaying a tough guy.

Why would you call it a terrorist attack? When you bomb a country and they decide to bomb/shoot you back, that's war. Not terrorism.
It's not like US even has the room to claim immunity for civilians. After all, didn't the 'Secretary of War' announce you weren't going to bother about rules of engagement? Well, when you don't, nor does the other side.
181
QbertsRubeMar 24, 2026

True, would just be a counter-attack. Unless you ask Trump, in which case it'll be the most horrific terrorist attack in human history and necessitate a full ban on all Muslims, Sheiks, Asians, Latinos, LGBTQ, and anyone who refuses to sign the Donald J Trump Loyalty Travel Pledge and pay the $10 million tourism fee.

82nd airborne division is part of the Immediate Response Force: an army-air force effort to deploy troops anywhere in the world within 18 hours of notification. Usually IRF responsibility is rotated among the 3 brigades of the 82nd. 3,000 troops would roughly make up a brigade.

The 82nd Airborne is one of the U.S. military’s rapid deployment units, so sending them usually signals that the situation is considered serious.

Nothing this regime does is serious. I'd put money on this being some last-second demand from Trump or Hegseth and this was the only/first thing they could do to satisfy it.
Something stupid is happening.

82nd can be thought of as America’s shock troops. You send them in to do things like secure airports and harbors, in anticipation of a larger force.
It’s about to become a ground war. We’re preparing to invade Iran.
