Special operations eh?? Hmmm I wonder where I heard of that before.

Next week: Trump fumes as Denmark claim they've downed 4 UFOs off its coast. "We don't allocate rescue resources to pieces of junk" their Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen remarked in the matter. US military search and rescue efforts continue for 4 Black Hawks

Trump wants to invade Greenland, apparently he’s waging war with the world because he’s a goddamned moron.
591

He wants it because he said he wanted it and got told no. He doesn't take nos very well.
247
[deleted] Mar 22, 2026 +156
No, he wants it because JD told him to want it, because Thiel told JD to want it. Trump does not have any original thoughts outside of TV ratings and pedophilic lust, his Greenland efforts are being made at the request of technocrats who want to found a tax haven microstate for rich people
156
TheDodoBird Mar 22, 2026 +77
More people need to realize this. More people need to read about Peter Thiel.

It is kinda rich of Peter Thiel to talk about the antichrist when he acts very much like the antichrist.

25
HammerIsMyName Mar 22, 2026 +15
If the US invades Greenland there will be thousands of US POWs as Europe retakes bases holding American personnel all across Europe - good luck trying to get American service members to shoot at European colleagues, knowing this is all because of Trump being a demented f***.
15
Tall-Warning3135 Mar 22, 2026 +6
Yes, Denmark was preparing for a fight. They won't take this lying down.
6
Slypenslyde Mar 22, 2026 +16
Honestly I wish they would. SOMEONE needs to save the US from itself.
16
RiverFrogs Mar 22, 2026 +7
Anyone can beat a country that’s at war with itself. There’s no way they’ll get enough public support to make a war last with any of these current fronts. We’re just shooting ourselves in the foot right now
7
Squire_II Mar 22, 2026 +2
> Anyone can beat a country that’s at war with itself. And as we've seen in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US can still f*** up and accomplish nothing of worth in those cases.
2
Iohet Mar 22, 2026 +17
Let's be honest, it's the majority of Congress that's waging war with the world because they're all morons. They have the power to stop it but the Republican majority wants war
17
The_Roshallock Mar 22, 2026 +15
He is a moron, but the various things he's been doing are too neat a package to merely dismiss as idiocy. Virtually everything he's been doing over the past decade has been inexplicable, unless you consider the Russian perspective. Hes a Russian asset. Its plain as day to anyone who's looked into his past business dealings. Russia conquered the US without firing a single shot.
15
MegaMaster1021 Mar 22, 2026 +10
It's clear he is more interested in annexing Canada and Greenland, but Benny Yahoo grabbed him by the balls and said no we're going after Iran or else the videos go public
10
KwisatzHaderach94 Mar 22, 2026 +3
just like america eventually returned the panama canal to panama, america agreed that denmark would control greenland. and trump hates those decisions. he wants to undo that agreement even if it means war with our former allies (and they are preparing for that possibility).
3
chompah99 Mar 22, 2026 +2
I really think he must have watched that movie with Gerard Butler.
2
JohnnyGFX Mar 22, 2026 +739
My advice to Denmark is to not trust this administration. The Trump admin doesn’t care about following through on any promises they make. They don’t respect alliances, treaties, or agreements. They operate under Trump’s insane belief that for them to win at anything, everyone else has to lose.
739
ElSmasho420 Mar 22, 2026 +79
Sadly, ten-ish years ago, it would have been a breeze to ask Denmark if it’s okay if we increase our military footprint in Greenland. They would have very likely said, “yes, no problem.” But because our country is run by idiots, this whole process will be excruciating for all involved.
79
Aazadan Mar 22, 2026 +31
1 year ago it also would have been easy. They were very, very open to it. Up until Trump said he wanted to annex them.
31
LarsloekkeEr Mar 22, 2026 +12
Denmark was very possibly the most comitted ally the US had. Then Trump decided Greenland needed a US flag on a map and Trump lied about the danish lives lost in American wars.
12
ATangK Mar 22, 2026 +212
Every country needs to realise that the US is not an ally but an extortionate bully.
212
Osiris32 Mar 22, 2026 +56
And that until some significant changes occur, we aren't to be trusted. No matter who is in charge, because it obviously can be undone by idiots getting elected to high offices.

11
ratbaby86 Mar 22, 2026 +10
They don't. Reporting has come out that when Trump was threatening to invade last year, the Danes sent an elite military unit with blood and live ammunitions, and orders to fight til the death and blow up the runways should the Americans invade (blood in the event they needed to provide transfusions in the field). They were hoping the spilling of allied, Danish blood would backfire so fantastically that America would be shamed to move forward with actual seizure of the territory. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/20/world/europe/denmark-blow-up-greenland-runways-us-invasion.html
10
FunctionalGray Mar 22, 2026 +20
Exactly. Trump is Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood. I have a competition in me. I want no one else to succeed. I hate most people. I’ve built my hatreds up over the years, little by little..
20
mrbiggles64 Mar 22, 2026 +17
Your analogy doesn’t give Daniel Plainview enough credit. Yes, he was extremely competitive and driven to succeed. But he was also willing to put in the work, and take care of those that worked for him. Communities were made better when he drillled near them, brining in good paying jobs, schools and other infrastructure. Daniel is a reflection of the early industrial barons in America, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt. Trump has all these egotistical qualities, with a side malfeasance and deviant behavior.
17
TheWhiteManticore Mar 22, 2026 +7
Is US a true dictatorship now, where are checks and balances? Iran war isnt even finished, this is asking for systemic military collapse!
7
ITAdministratorHB Mar 22, 2026 +3
Apparently they sent in special forces to set up remote explosives and other ways to disable the runways while this was all going down
3

26
ernapfz Mar 22, 2026 +3
Can you spell Trojan Horse?
3
arthurno1 Mar 22, 2026 +3
It is a double-edged sword. If they refuse, they give Trump fuel to claim they must have Greenland. If they accept, it is a potential Trojan horse. They are letting them get in easy way and establish the base.
3
Aazadan Mar 22, 2026 +7
It's not a double edged sword at all. Trump has threatened wanting to annex Greenland and has three times now tried to send additional ships to them. NATO sent a tripwire force as well. And that's before we get into the complete disaster of Davos when Trump demanded it (and for a time backed off after). US bonds will be dumped, Article 5 will get declared against the US, alliances are over/bases closed, and trade is halted should Trump invade. He has gotten the strongest possible answers from everyone in the EU that he cannot have Greenland, or even be allowed to build up to annex it.
7
MikuEmpowered Mar 22, 2026 +3
Realistically theres nothing Denmark CAN do to stop this. and simutaneously, theres nothing you can get from taking Greenland, atleast without massive effort to allow resource extraction. This is why Greenland isn't the natural industrial hub of 2026. This will however, bring about questionable issue like: the total collapse of NATO because no one forsaw a member state invade another member state.
3
Guy_GuyGuy Mar 22, 2026 +17
No, there's absolutely things Denmark and NATO could do to stop this. In addition to non-US NATO countries having sent troops, aircraft, and ships to Greenland, we just recently learned that Denmark flew explosives over to set to blow up runways. Stop acting like it can't be stopped. LITERALLY EVERYTHING about Trump could have been stopped. The whole f****** thing is the steamroller scene from Austin Powers. That's what makes it so goddamn frustrating and it keeps getting worse when countries and mega-corporations bow their heads and comply in advance and just embolden Trump's administration even more.
17
Aazadan Mar 22, 2026 +2
There's plenty Denmark can do to stop it. NATO sent a tripwire force, Denmark is telling them no, countries are threatening to drop bonds/end trade, and so on.

Trump: Time to pull another smoke screen over the Epstein Files and Iran's backfiring on us! What do we have? JD Vance: Best we can do is Greenland again. Trump: Say no more, fam! Sounds good to me! \------------------------------------------------ The Oval conversation, allegedly.
95
BrianWantsTruth Mar 22, 2026 +27
I don’t think Vance has a shred of participation in any planning. He’s just there to defend and justify insane/idiotic choices made by King Shit. Can you actually imagine Trump asking him for advice? Vance is basically a Salacious Crumb.

38
goodlife_arc Mar 22, 2026 +36
Or about 20 smaller bullies. I think this is what’s going to end up happening. He is opening so many fronts that he is going to break us.
36
sarhoshamiral Mar 22, 2026 +16
We are already broken. The next 2 years will decide if we can be repaired or not.
16
Dragrunarm Mar 22, 2026 +18
We've upended literal decades of status quo. There isnt any repairing that can be done there. Certainly none that will survive the inevitable next republican term when they just rip it all down again.
18
Aazadan Mar 22, 2026 +13
There's no going back to what we had. Trade isn't going to get rerouted back to the US, soft power isn't coming back. Oil isn't going back to getting traded only in USD, US institutions aren't getting rebuilt, and brain drain isn't getting reversed. A best case scenario at this point is a President that can manage the US seeing a significant decline in influence, and keeping the nation together/quality of life up, while we become significantly poorer and less important as a country over the next 20 years before a new status quo stabilizes.
13

Denmark and Greenland has from the get-go been open to expanding US presence in Greenland, as it has always been an option in the deal made between the countries back in 1951. But for some reason Trump has chosen to ignore that ever since he started demanding the Island for security reasons, and now he'll properly spin this as some great victory, even though nothing has changed on paper.
26
Mala_Practice Mar 22, 2026 +3
It’s because Trump is a spoiled rich kid who has never seen the consequences of his actions. Nor has he had someone say no to him that he hasn’t subsequently forced into giving him his way. So when he sees something he wants he believes he has a right to just take it.
3
jcolinr Mar 22, 2026 +29
Seriously?  Didn’t the US just c*** all over them and act like Greenland was ours to take whenever we felt like it?  Now we’re looking for cooperation and expanded military presence.  If this were fiction, the editor would strike the whole thing as too ridiculous to be believable.
29
WCland Mar 22, 2026 +7
Denmark and Greenland should just string out the negotiations for a few years. Come up with spurious details, niggle over infrastructure issues like water and sewer, and tag team obstruction so at one meeting Denmark says no to a fine point but Greenland accepts, then vice versa for the next meeting.

11
ihavenoidea12345678 Mar 22, 2026 +4
No. The criminals running our country are abusing the strength built by the nation. The more we grow the military, the more tools they have to abuse people. Cut the defense budget. It is not being used for defense.

5
McRibs2024 Mar 22, 2026 +3
Ffs, if only these imbeciles realized this was possible from the get go without the talk of taking land from an ally. Denmark should wait until midterms to do anything. Just play nice and talk and whatnot and drag their feet. If it’s a democrat landslide then there’s more likelihood this isn’t a miller idea bait and switch.
3
TrickyChildhood2917 Mar 22, 2026 +5
Well we have already won in Iran. I say go for it, take over Greenland. I think Cuba should be in the bag by the end of the month. There used to be 10 military bases there and it got cut down to 1. Greenland has never had a problem with allowing the military to be there. What Greenland isn't keen on is allowing Trump to take whatever natural resources they have. Which is what this really is about.

I remember sitting in history class and learning about some dude who demanded a bunch of land and resources and privileges from other countries. No one did anything about it and eventually he ended up starting a really bad conflict because he wanted to. Trump reminds me of Hitler and the United States population reminds me of the cowards who didn’t get in his way.
2
TheFutureIsAFriend Mar 22, 2026 +8
If you read your history a bit more thoroughly, you'll take into account that rise took 8 years, and was resisted every step of the way until the Nazis literally locked members of the chancellory out to get the vote to give Hitler unilateral power passed. Not to mention the tons of people who left Germany during those 8 years. Cowards? No. People trying to save their lives and the lives of their family members. Fantasies about a popular uprising seizing control back in large countries are a pipe dream given modern tech and general apathy about governance. The US had a rabid anti-semite as Sec of State who scaled back staff in the region to make visas almost impossible to obtain. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_U.S._and_the_Holocaust I also suggest The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich for the dirty details.

Isn't this just... putting enough stuff there that its already ours if we say it is? Its one thing for them to behave as if we're all as stupid as the ones who voted for them. But why are we supposed to go along and pretend like they're right?

The Pentagon doesn't, Trump does and Hegseth does. They want the mineral wealth of Greenland, nothing else. It has nothing to do with strategic value.

That’s so silly! I didn’t know we had “special” forces, must be a loyalty thing rather than DEI, they take the short helicopter.

Gosh if you fail at everything you promised in your presidential campaign then you should be dragged out of office by your ears!! trump is a traitor to America and a Russian asset 💯! If you have any wrinkles in your brain you can clearly see this fact!

I have no doubt that they do. Just remember it's no longer for "Department of DEFENSE", it's for "Department of WAR".

Don't trust the fat man. Start a war somewhere else, then turn to your allies and"grab em by the p****" just like what he does with little girls
