Shoulders.
No idea why.
But suffice to say whatever part of society decided that women don't need to cover their shoulders has my eternal gratitude.
(To be clear I don't get aroused over them or anything, but I just find them to be a really aesthetically pleasing body part)

Very unique facial features/characteristics like scars, vitiligo, etc. I have severe facial blindness and thus it is more comforting to me because it will make someone easier for me to recognize and remember them by. This is also why I have an attraction to characters who wear masks, as it is again, easier on my brain for recognition.

Can you elaborate on what it’s like to be face blind? It’s such a fascinating concept and I can’t wrap my head around it.
402
justdrowsinMar 27, 2026
+649
I'm kinda face blind. I have severe aphantasia so I can't recall visual memories. For example I can't recall my mother's face right now.
But when I see them, and it locks and I'm good. But it really hampers my ability to recognize people.
I need visual cues like haircuts or clothing to help. Sometime this causes error and embarrassment.
My neighbor once dressed in a morph suit for Halloween and I had NO idea who he was.
My wife knows to subtly give info when me run into people in public "oh it's Debby from our Son's soccer! We haven't seen you in 2 years!"
When we watch TV I often ask "is that the same person or a different person?"
Today I met a client and he had shaved his beard. NO CLUE who the guy was. Kinda embarrassing. But I don't care too much.
649
smegma_appraiserMar 27, 2026
+146
So you can’t picture imagery in your mind at all? And for the face blindness, can you literally stare at someone’s face for a long time and then immediately forget what they look like when you look away?
146
justdrowsinMar 27, 2026
+272
Correct. I can look at a picture for a while and when it's gone I can no longer see it. I can't use any visual memory to recover detail.
If it's a panting of two horses and a cowboy I remember that what it was. But I can't recall the image.
When I drive down my home town city streets I'm unsure of what's coming up. I can't project forward even though I've been down the road 40 years.
I also have zero inner monologue. When I close my eyes I hear NOTHING and I see NOTHING.
Im a regular Buddhist Monk!
Imagine you are in a strange room at night in the pitch dark. You're totally lost. You have your fingers on the light switch and then you quickly flip the lights on then off for a millisecond. You can no longer see the room but now you have good spacial awareness of the room and can practically sprint through.
That's what I have, spacial awareness and 3D perception of relative positions. I'm surprisingly good at navigating foreign cities and can instantly point to the hotel or destination with little effort.
People with aphantasia don't lack the ability to make visual memories, we lack the ability to recall them.
When I get really high on weed I can recall visual memories. It's wild.
Also, we have difficulty with autobiographical recal - I can't remember much detail from my childhood or even adult life in detail. Not sure why, but it's a side effect.
My son is the exact same, while my daughter has HYPOphantasia. She can conjure detailed images in her mind, rotate them, analyze them and change them at will with perfect clarity.

> Also, we have difficulty with autobiographical recal - I can't remember much detail from my childhood or even adult life in detail. Not sure why, but it's a side effect.
This is more adjacent to aphantasia than a side effect of it, and it's called Severely Deficient Autobiographical Memory (SDAM). Not everyone with aphantasia has SDAM and not everyone with SDAM has aphantasia but it does seem there may be correlation! Personally I'm only a mid-grade aphantasiac--I'm not face-blind and I have a *very* active inner monologue but moderate to poor visual imagination--but I got hit with SDAM pretty hard and have almost no sensory memory. My childhood is virtually blank. Brains are weird.

I’m going to look it up online as well but I would love to know what your experience is with dreaming due to the inability to recall visual information. Do you have visual dreams even if you cannot recall those visuals once you’re awake? Or do you not have any visual experience while sleeping of any kind? If the latter is true, what are dreams like for you?
16
Beginning_Math7614Mar 27, 2026
+21
I have severe aphantasia too and dreams are the most interesting parts of aphantasia in my opinion so I think I can answer on his behalf. When I dream my dreams are quite vivid and detailed. Also most of my dreams are lucid dreams and I know I am dreaming at that moment. When I begin to slowly wake up, the images I see slowly fades to black, I often try to keep the images but by the time I am fully woken up I will be staring into nothingness. Same thing happens when I am about to sleep, for a short amount of time before I sleep I can visualize things but they aren’t as detailed as dreams. According to my observations my brain is capable of creating visual imagery, it just doesn’t do that beside during sleep.

I'm kinda face blind, Not aphantasic or anything, I just don't have a good memory for faces, so I don't look for people outside of specific contexts. I'd nearly walked past my own sibling in a shopping centre once, and it took the combination of their husband, their kid in tow, their expression and reaching out to me for it to click who this was.
If someone changes their hair drastically, I have to wait for them to enter conversation before my brain tells me "yep, that's them all right" otherwise they just float in "is that them" land

Whenever he would get sick, his grandmother would send my ex to hunt for certain plants for him
Like aloe Vera that grew in certain condition. Or wild mint that grew in shady areas near goats.
Idk why but I thought it was so attractive that he had both the knowledge of where to find them, identify the play, and bring it back safely because his child needed it.

I’m a male massage therapist, and in my mid twenties I went to a bar by the clinic I worked at. I was rock climbing a lot at the time too so my forearms and hands were extra jacked lmao. I ran into one of my clients at the bar, he was drunk af and started raving to his group about how talented I am at my work, then this middle aged woman more than twice my age came over to me to ask about my job and how to book. She looks down at my hands and started going on and onnnn about how much she wants to be massaged by “those hands”, kept saying all sorts of things about “those hands” with this wild f****** look in her eyes unwavering from my hands.
Fortunately she never booked hahaha.
I had another elderly woman client blurt out during her massage “I’m obsessed with how strong and rough (rough skin from climbing at the time) your hands feel touching my body!” Immediately after saying that she realized how it sounded and was mortified.

Those are called Venus dimples! I have them, and they’re so deep you can stick a whole thumb in them and have space. An ex called them “his thumb holders” lol.

On men they’re called dimples of Apollo! I inherited them from my dad and science says they’re attractive because the human brain loves symmetry! Bodies and brains are so interesting

I think it's very sweet that you're kind to those who have problems with their teeth. Sometimes those problems are caused by genetics or just unfortunate events and the fact that you can still see beauty in that makes it more delightful. Thank you sincerely, that actually means a lot to me personally.

my gf occasionally winnie the poohs it as she sleeps fully naked but will sometimes only put on a shirt when she wakes up. If it was a long shift for her the night before especially this means she will just go around in only a tee shirt doing normal everyday things as she wakes herself up in the morning and its just all around the cutest thing she does imo and she knows that

I would do the same, except I'm a guy so my c*** and balls would be dangling. When my wife and I started dating, she'd call it 'Donald Ducking it'. I don't do it anymore but only because we don't live in an apartment anymore and the neighbours can definitely see in the house. I miss the freedom.

I LOVE the body hair, everywhere, if you catch my drift. I love her strong muscles but soft curves. And if they laugh when they make a mistake, like dropping something or laughing at a stranger being rude or self-serving instead of getting mad
Patience is a huge turn on

I love bisexual girls. There's something really hot about you both sitting there talking about a hot girl you just saw, or even just noticing the excitement on her face.
I'm saying this is strange because I used to assume this would be universally attractive, but I've brought it up with some people and to my surprise not only do they want their women to be 100% straight, they seemed insecure about the idea of their woman looking at anyone else in that way.

You're not that strange!
My boyfriend is straight and finds androgynous women with shorter hair attractive, I'm bi and find masculine women with short hair attractive as well, though I usually like them bigger and butchier than he does, lol. We often both do the head turn meme together and whisper "did you see her??"
