Doing this while in the middle of an active war is dumb, at best.

Coincidentally “dumb, at best” is the US Military’s new motto.

Stalin purged his army in the late 30s, and then again during WWII.

How did that work out for him?

The first purge saw political commissars appointed to share command positions, and the second purge got rid of them, and Beria took out everyone who was involved in the retreats under Operation Barbarossa.
Hard to guess the impact on the Army - if you didn't love Stalin you wouldn't be there long, but the Soviet Union had the advantage of almost unlimited manpower, and any lack of military skill was covered by the sheer number of troops that could be fielded.

Imagine being removed by a cos-playing drunk-prophet-war-monger in tight pants.

Bad omen. I’m sure he was giving leadership an accurate assessment of how the war is going and the impossibility of sending ground troops into Iran to hold territory.
Just a hunch, but I think he lost his job for having integrity. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is an Air Force guy, and no offense, but the Air Force ALWAYS overestimates the effectiveness of aerial bombardment.

Also out of all of the branches the air force is most in the tank for Christian nationalism

The just appointment the widow Kirk to their board of advisors.
Also here is a story from a decade ago. They were found to have discriminatate against cadets but it talks about their evangelical culture

It's been going on for a long time. Air Force Academy is based out of Colorado Springs, which was ground zero for groups like Focus on the Family and Ted Haggard's church.

Gotta get rid of the experienced military voices telling you that to attack and invade Iran are bad ideas. The talk show host knows better than them.

Mr. O-4 knows how to get things done. These silly generals are just getting in his way.

From wiki...
George enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1982 before attending the United States Military Academy at West Point from 1984, commissioning in 1988 as an Infantry officer. He was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times during his career. George served in the 101st Airborne Division during Operation Desert Storm, commanded the 173rd Airborne Brigade during the Iraq War, and commanded the 4th Brigade Combat Team during the war in Afghanistan. He held staff positions on the Army Staff and the Joint Staff before commanding the 4th Infantry Division from 2017 and being deployed to Afghanistan again. George was later the commanding general of I Corps from 2020 to 2021.

My guess is he got sacked for denying to attack civilian infrastructure. Trump threatened to attack power plants and desalination facilities. I think George told Hegseth those strikes would be illegal, and will not be carried out.

One would expect that all these collaborators, discarded and sidelined, may hold a grudge that will come to fruition in the future.

When he gets fired, I will absolutely celebrate. Hard. Like Pete Hegseth.

He probably got canned from pushing back Hegseth for shitting over the chain of command. The command and the general Soldiers remember this c***, and they hold grudges.

If command or soldiers have any qualms about the shit they've been put through under both trump admins, they're keeping real quiet about it
they resign or are fired, but they still seem to fall right in line no matter what batshit direction they get

Competence is lesser than loyalty under this crack pot regime. America is less safe today. Drunks don”t think before they act.

Whatever the machinations behind this, sacking such a senior figure just s few weeks into a war you claim is going flawlessly and is all but won is an absolutely farcical look.
