Philadelphia museum brings Rocky statue inside after decades of tension
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is embracing a statue it once kept at arm’s length. A new exhibition, “Rising Up: Rocky and the Making of Monuments,” brings the bronze figure of Rocky Balboa inside for the first time, reframing it as both pop culture icon and part of a 2,000-year tradition of boxing

TLDR: The museum never loved the statue but now they've decided to embrace it as art and give it a place in a exhibition about statues depicting human struggle and triumph.

Reminds me of the National Wallace Monument, which for a period of time held a statue of Mel Gibson's portrayal of William Wallace, called "Freedom"

Honestly kind of glad it’s finally inside, that thing was basically an unpaid tour guide. Hopefully they keep some free, late hours so locals can still jog up, sweat, and visit it after work.

Probably Rocky was a great movie, but really didn't need to be made into a franchise.

Rocky 1 was a gritty classic. The sequels got progressively more into coke fuelled 80s insanity. Rocky Balboa was a good return to the series roots

I really hate that saying. It’s turned in to a live love laugh decal and people in the far suburbs are using it
