> U.S. commanders have kept many troops away from bases in the region to protect them from Iran’s ballistic missile attacks. If another country did that, we’d say they were using civilians as human shields. If Iran did it, Israel would double-tap every hotel in the country.

Yeah, this is unethical and immoral to endanger civilians. Best I can tell, Americans just don’t think it’s acceptable for our opponents to punch back.

> Yeah, this is unethical and immoral to endanger civilians. > Reminder: actually 29 year old woman here died in Bahrain because of this. And what's funny Trump is considering us *paying* for the cost of this conflict, absolute f****** clown.

Our government is literally being run by an eighty year old in a constant state of hissy fit

Israel in fact did bomb a hotel in Beirut at the start of the war because some Iranian commanders were there.

Defiant_Tomatillo907 Apr 1, 2026 +1
If other countries did it, Trump would force them all into his hotels and severely overcharge

The. Administration. Doesn’t. Care.

Regime. The correct word for what we have now is regime

But they b**** about enemy armies in with the population. Isn’t this the same?

To be fair to the admin, international law only applies to countries without nuclear weapons. It's such a hollow thing to throw at them given everything else they are guilty of.

That's like saying J. D. Vance *might* select only the finest quality couches for his personal enjoyment. It's a certainty in this administration.

Prior_Coyote_4376 Apr 1, 2026 +1
MAGA would literally rather have JD Vance be in a furiously k**** relationship with a couch than Usha

Maybe he likes them a little threadbare... loose spring here and there... got some *experience*...

Really? We - US - don't have the actual logistics ( temporary bases, housing etc.) to support our troops he wants to put in? Instead they stay at the mid-east of Motel 6's only to get harassed/shot at by locals. ffs. It's more and more embarrassing by the hour.

Indercarnive Apr 1, 2026 +1
It's the opposite. We're putting them in hotels so they don't die when Iran hits our bases and betting Iran won't send a drone against a Hotel If any other country did it, it'd be called using civilians as human shields.
1
TheBlindCat Apr 1, 2026 +1
It’s worse than that.  Our military is using civilians as human shields by staying in civilian hotel.  Our military and Israelis would bomb the shit out civilian hotels and then criticize them for using human shields.

I’m sure they’re violating a few laws of war.

Doing illegal things, committing crimes, and *still losing*.

This is genuinely some laughable shit. I can easily picture Hegseth’s flunkies phone call to Dubai something like this: ‘We’d like to attack your neighbors on behalf of Israel. I’d go into it, but it’s this whole thing. Anyway, do you have any rooms you can put us up in? Maybe an air bnb? Yeah? Great. So do they serve breakfast, because wars definitely being out hunger in the morning. Continental? Ok. I mean, we all like eggs and bacon, but war is hell- am I right? Cool. Thanks. We’ll send out payment through Stripe. You guys use Stripe, right? Cool.’

So, that's par for the course then.

When Iran struck some hotels a couple weeks ago, I immediately thought, "oh there must have been US military or CIA in those buildings." Anyway, I was banned from worldnews for it. Badge of honor.

Never mind the fact that it is a real strain on Housekeeping. Do you clean the gun, around the gun or what? And if the "Do NOT disturb" sign is out...seriously...DO NOT DISTURB.

Why aren’t any U.S. soldiers speaking out about the war crimes they are now a party to?
1
Virtual_Plantain_707 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Because the are currently in theatre and probably have their access to outside world restricted.

>The U.S. military’s decision to move troops away from bases under Iranian attack to hotels and office spaces in civilian areas may amount to violations of international humanitarian law and the U.S. military’s own laws of war, human rights officials and experts say. Sort of like Hamas uses Palestinians as human shields, really. Though to be fair, Hamas thought that through carefully, whereas the Trump regime was probably more interested in arranging contracts to fill up hotels based on what hotel owners offered the biggest kickback, and just forgot to give a shit about nearby civilians.

Honestly Trump can do whatever he wants in the Middle East.  Who cares?  It’s thousands of miles away.  As long as we get healthcare and good wages, let’s focus on things that actually matter.
1
TheBlindCat Apr 1, 2026 +1
Well we’re not getting healthcare or good wages either. Got to spend those billions on weapons I guess.
1
blazesquall Apr 1, 2026 +1
That is the typical American stance.. zero regard for what empire does at the periphery on their behalf, so long as gas stays c****.  But then.. maybe you can't have healthcare because of all the adventurism.. turns out its expensive.
1
Tainted_Bruh Apr 1, 2026 +1
If you live in the Imperial core and don’t give a shit about the atrocities committed at the periphery of the empire, that imperial boomerang gonna be a real shocker when it eventually returns to the core. As many (non-minority) Americans are painfully discovering.
1
blazesquall Apr 1, 2026 +1
I don't think they're discovering.. they think this is just a blip, an aberration, a momentary flirtation with authoritarianism... and are looking to restore their comfort so they can go back to ignoring it.
1
epicswagdouchebag Apr 1, 2026 +1
That’s not the typical American stance, all you’re doing is feeding a troll
1
blazesquall Apr 1, 2026 +1
I'm definitely feeding a troll, but it's very much the American stance. It's even the online liberal stance.
