"Phthalates are plasticizers often found in flexible PVC products, fragranced items, and personal care products like nail polish, hair spray, and soaps. Key sources include plastic food packaging, vinyl flooring, air fresheners, and toys. These chemicals, used to increase flexibility and scent longevity, often leach out over time"
Greattttt.

And we've been warned about this c*** for 30 years yet nobody tried anything...

Basic history in a nutshell: Early 70's scientists studied the leaching and possible toxicity. By the 90's it was more definitive the harms they caused..2000 cdc began to warn....2008 US started to ban them. We should be relying on science way more than what a company tells us.

Decades of research has confirmed that prenatal exposure to traffic-related air pollution can cause preterm birth and miscarriage, in addition to cancer, heart disease and asthma. The primary culprits are the benzene, toluene, nitrogen dioxide, nickel, and zinc in vehicular exhaust. Most people don't care or are in outright denial. It will be the same with these plastic chemicals.

Yeah I mean climate change has long since reached the level of existential crisis that supersedes all other issues yet people still deny its existence. And will likely continue to do so until the end of all things.

Yes but all car tires have microplastics. A best solution is trams.

> They are part of a family of synthetic chemicals called phthalates. They’re also known as “everywhere chemicals” because they’re used in so many consumer products.

MAGA: "Vaccines cause autism! Vaccine companies are lying to make a profit!" - Claimed w/o credible evidence ... then ...
"plastics causing preterm births new study finds"
MAGA: "The oil companies would never put a product out that causes this harm to infants, fake news."
/Just highlighting what you can expect from your MAGA family.

Not MAGA, but I would hope they aren’t that stupid lol. I am speculative of any giant corporation though. Big pharma, oil, all of it. If your only care is money, the tiny peons that die or get injured along the way don’t really matter for any company like that.

Methods
A disease burden model was constructed using 2018 exposure estimates from available population-level biomonitoring surveys and meta-analyses in regions lacking such surveys. Hazard ratios (HRs) for PTB associated with phthalate exposure were derived from a previous cohort study and applied to regional exposure distributions, and a search from 2016 to 2026 was completed to identify uncertainty intervals for effect estimates. PTB-attributable outcome estimates were obtained from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation's. Phthalate-associated PTB outcomes were calculated using a population attributable fraction approach.

I am convinced that autism, high colon cancer rates in young adults, ADHA, and knows what else is based on petroleum..
They have money (power) to do as they damn well please as people across the world die needlessly.
I remember a line from the Graduate saying “Plastics are the future” or something similar. We didn’t realize the future is an early death!

These are not used any plastics anymore since many years. Personal care products, sometimes. Leave plastics out of it.

A quick search online tells me that's not true. It looks like DEHP became more restricted from about ten years ago, but DiNP was a replacement for it.
But a lot of the products they're commonly used in, are ones with lifespans into the decades.

Plasticisers are used in plasticised PVC products, which have been replaced by other alternatives in almost all cases since about 20 years, at least in developed countries. But yeah, that is not what fits the narrative here. 'A quick search online' will find you anything, and it will be hard to understand how to place it.
