We should have diversified in the last century. Better yet, we should have put a stake in the Hyde Park Declaration of April 1941, at the end of World War II. Better to start diversification of our risk and our economy, security and defence arrangements now and not wait until tomorrow. Painful for the next 3-5 years but in the long term, the alternative is much worse.

We should seriously talk to Alexander Stubb about how Canada could join the EU with flexibility on the periphery while maintaining our own currency and immigration policy while taking advantage of free trade with europe. Stubb is an expert in this area. Flexible membership in the EU was his PhD thesis topic. Also, what do you guys think of restarting Energy East (pipeline), and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in addition to wind generation? BTW, if you call the US on it's bluffs, as Iran has done, it TACOs out.
