No prizes for guessing which politicians promote this, or who their paymasters are.

Members of the party kissing Trump's arse are staging protests against the fuel price increases that Trump caused. And then they've got the gall to wonder why people stereotype them as uneducated.

More importantly, too many soft bellied idiots agree that they’re fools, but hey upset if you say that out loud, because it’s “rude.” These people are destroying democracy, and the world economy. I think we are past niceties Janet. Call. Them. Out.

Protest to whom? Nowt we can do about it - expect they enjoy being in their 'look at me' club.

Farmers will be the one protesting, yet they're the ones with access to the cheapest dirtiest fuel that is allowed in this country. The farmers of this country are the most backwards toxic culture to take root. My partner's family are Suffolk farmers, they are trump and reform supporters and generally the most backwards people I know. It's time to stop giving them every quarter and make our farming communities modernise and budge on their ways of life, instead of bending over backwards for them.

yeah those old ways of life should be outlawed lets go FULL gmo, Fully detached from natural law, fully processed foods, require people to use patented seeds, death penalty enforced rainwater collection laws, limited right to repair, required licensing to build on your own property and more. Modernize! They need to realize the value of pursuing the holy dollar - they need to realize that the last 80 years have taught us more about what it means to be a human (and a good, moral, government fearing human at that!) than the previous however many years taught their peepaw and grandpappy with their archaic "passed down" knowledge. They should budge!! or have their hands forced!!! Grandmas and Grandpas of the past might not have all been horrible racists but they were backwards hicks and their way of life must be rubbed out - good on you for taking those protestors down a notch.

Uneducated people protesting about price increases caused by a war that our government can’t control - and if the government did offer relief it would come at massive detriment to our already struggling financial situation as a country. Where do these morons think the money comes from even if there are additional cuts to fuel duty? We’ll all end up paying for it one way or another.

Today's update: [https://www.farmersguide.co.uk/business/farmers-voice/we-dont-want-to-make-it-worse-farmers-refuse-to-join-rumoured-fuel-protests/](https://www.farmersguide.co.uk/business/farmers-voice/we-dont-want-to-make-it-worse-farmers-refuse-to-join-rumoured-fuel-protests/) Methinks someone, somewhere is using this to stir everything up to cause trouble...

One of the places mentioned was Felixstowe docks - and no farmers in that region were planning to protest today (and they didn't). So I don't know who's stirring the muck ATM...

I think they are looking at the government giving some tax relief on fuel? Presently it's 52.95p per liter not including 20% Vat.

It's pretty simple. England and Ireland both have a "carbon tax" on fuel. This is just a sin tax, designed to make fuel more expensive to encourage people to move to electric. Which is all well and good for some people, but some industries simply must operate on fuel or else they cannot function. But due to the Hormuz Crisis, fuel is already going to get ridiculously expensive. The government cannot do anything about the international price of fuel. But it can halt its "carbon tax." The fuel is already going to be expensive. The justification for the "carbon tax" is already being done with the high prices. Continuing with this sin tax in the face of high prices and shortages is just madness and tone deaf.

To be fair, the farmers protesting this would be using red diesel, which is only taxed at a fixed rate of around £0.10 per litre. Even if the government abolished all the fuel duty on red diesel, it would only lower the price by a maximum of 10p. Red diesel is currently around £1.32/L, which is more than double the price before the current crisis. Even with the cut, it would still basically be twice as expensive as before.

10p soon adds up. Farmers also use petrol for things like quad bikes, generators, strimmers.

This red diesel is also far worse for the environment than normal fuels, these farmers have been given courtesy after courtesy instead of modernising just because they refuse to give up their way of life. As someone from England the farmers culture is 100% the most spoilt and toxic group of people that exist here.

Red diesel is no different to white diesel, it just has a dye in it.

By England I assume you mean the UK?

Prehaps the down voters can pay our carbon tax if they agree with the governments stance on this 🙃

Every time Rachel Reeves gives anyone any money back the international markets make our borrowing more expensive - she's on a losing wicket.
