Dumbest motherfuckers just burning fuel to complain about how fuel is expensive while also supporting the types of politicians that make fuel expensive.

Having a dumbass as the 'leader of the free world' tends to spread further dumbass-ery across said same 'free world'.

Hey! Our wonderful neighbors to the north were doing dumb shit too!

I bet these farmers wouldn't protest if the current Irish president wasn't a far left winger who calls herself a socialist and pacifist. Here in Germany we also had massive farmer protests with gas prices given as the reason back when our green party was in power. But now that our conservative party is back in power, this time with a far more right-wing chancellor, our farmers are quiet, even though gas prices are now much higher than back then.

Stupid comment. The president is not the head of government, not even part of it.

This isn’t just about fuel anymore. It’s about cost of living becoming unbearable for a lot of people across Europe

It ain't these guys. These are entitled business owners who want to bailed out. Just them.

And what does blocking access to refineries and petrol stations achieve other than making those costs even higher?

Perfect-Ad-1774 13 hr ago -34
Desperate and angry people dont think logically, they react emotionally, so any distruption to invoke change is probably the plan.

External-Praline-451 12 hr ago +18
People, led by far-right people, sponsored by Russia, including a lot of social media propaganda making them angry at the wrong people. I suggest you reaearch some of the scumbags leading this thing.

How desperate can you be because of higher prices? This is bullshit. The people over in Iran, with their currency worthless and their family and friends executed by the state, are desperate. The people in Gaza are desperate. The people blocking the refinery in Ireland are nowhere close to being desperate.

Its about a bunch of right wing loons kicking up a fuss at the first excuse.
113
v3ritas1989 15 hr ago +72
No it is about a lot of right wing loons kicking up a fuss to get the farm lobby another subsidy, because we are not already using 30% of the EU budget to subsidise them in addition to all the political protectionism and more national budgets used for subsidies.

And crazy laws banning nut milk and veggie burgers from calling them that name, to protect meat and dairy. I left the states to get away from that kind of idiocy

But that £350m weekly surely covers it! It was on the buses I remember clearly!

here in Germany, when our Green party was in power, many of our farmers were blocking roads with their tractors when gas prices went up. Some were even symbolically hanging our politicians. Some farmers even tried to storm a ferry with the Green vice-chancellor on board.  But now that our conservative party is in power again, this time with a more right-wing chancellor,  Nothing, even though gas prices are now much higher than back then.

Not even close, it was a bunch of wealthy, right wing business and land owners demanding a handout after they were given a quarter billion euros a week before, which they got, and had the cost shifted on to everyone else

NuPNua 15 hr ago +25
Yeah, but this bump has been caused by America, Iran and Israel. No protest in your own nation will change any of their minds.

FillFrontFloor 15 hr ago -10
They might be trying to pressure politicians to punish US, Israel and Iran. Im not from Europe but it largely looking like you guys are just going to put up with whatever happens to the world and be about your now more difficult life.

Naa, these are all lead by a bunch of MAGA wantabies who like trump and isreal. They can't protest the real cause of all the fuss cause then it undermines their own point.
23
progrethth 14 hr ago +10
Unlikely. These are right-wing idiots who likely support Trump's attack on Iran.
10
Money_Do_2 14 hr ago -8
This. Americisrael is doing the damage, but goddamn if the EU isnt being a good little vassal and doing absolutely nothing.
-8
kingmanic 11 hr ago +6
They aren't supporting the attacks on Iran. You'd expect a vasal to support/participate. Also the enemy of my nominal ally is not my friend. Even if the nominal ally is acting erratically and attacking unprovoked. They're far and also our enemies so speaking out for less slaughter is the best you can do.

progrethth 14 hr ago +14
What do these morons expect the government to do? There is not much which can be done by Ireland to stop Trump from being an idiot. The best Ireland could maybe do is propose sanctions against Israel.
14
tgrdem 13 hr ago +4
Not defending it, but the talking point I've heard is the government could cut the fuel tax to make Irish lives a little easier.

They have announced a further suite of measures costing 500m tonight, that’s on top of the 250m from previous measures, that money is going to have to come somewhere. That 500m has resulted in a 10c drop in diesel, the state cannot buy its way out of this one and nor should it.

i realize it is a wish only... but as trump to Maduro; Martin to trump would be somewhat cool to see.

>“They are not a legitimate form of protest,” Irish police Commissioner Justin Kelly said on Saturday. “We gave the blockaders fair warning that we were moving to enforcement and they choose to ignore it and continue to hold the country to ransom.” If we only did *'legitimate form of protest'* we wouldn't have universal suffrage, minimum wage and dozens of other rights and privileges we enjoy. So sure, they broke the rules. But the protest is now on the news.

Look at the convoy protests in Canada. A bunch of losers that don’t have enough public support to hold a meaningful protest so they use their vehicles as a force multiplier.
36
eucaliptooloroso 4 hr ago +1
Generally when a protest is mostly vehicles it ends up being a red flag. Wonder why is that.

They lost every hint of legitimacy when they nominated tax cheats, animal abusers and people who were not as anti r*** as you would hope, to represent them.

Those farmers are not poor or oppressed people fighting for more human rights and a living wage. They are the opposite.

So it has come to that! And things are going to get even worse with the coming USA blockade of the Strait of Hormus.
