Yep, I need a roof, siding, and 7 windows (WI). I put the kids in the basement and watched the hail tear shit apart. Baseball size.

Glad you and the kids are okay. Hope the house fix is affordable.

Appreciate it. Should know tomorrow when the insurance peeps can come out and get ball rolling. It’ll be a penny and we will likely be selling soon-ish so increased value lol

Glad to hear the Lena, IL tornado fatalities being reported yesterday were false.

Illinois here. I was sent to shelter 4 times in 3 days at work due to Tornado Warnings

Yes, I live in Bradley where the crazy hail happened last month.... I just got my windshield fixed yesterday and I'm afraid to bring it to work again where it got destroyed at last time. The whole town now has PTSD any time a storm is even rumored to be coming!

>“A lot of people are going to need a lot of help,” Billeb said of the Wisconsin storms. FEMA has been gutted to save money, but Trump is in talks with the IRS to extract $10 Billion from the US taxpayers. Thanks MAGA.

Not just FEMA, but NOAA (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) was gutted, with its meteorological services and staff. We need them more than ever and now we don’t have their critical abilities and services.

Don't forget a billion or two a day for the Iran war.

When this affects them personally, all of a sudden it matters to them. I have only sympathy for those who chose to vote for Harris or couldn't vote at all due to being too young, incapacitated, or do not qualify to vote. Maga can enjoy what they voted for. I just out of fucks to give to give for them.

Too bad about FEMA being gutted. Sounds like they could have used the assistance.

If only there was a functional national weather service that could have also warned them

Throwing shade aside, everyone should be following the digital meteorologists. Max Velocity or Ryan Hall Y'all. It may save your life.

We have both a shortwave radio tuned to NOAA and streaming Max during severe weather. Max typically calling out areas of concern way before we even get an official alert or sirens.

The Midwest votes for trump, even they don’t think they deserve the help

Illinois sure as hell doesn't

This sort of thinking is why this country is so alienated. There are many people fighting tooth and nail in these states for their rights. Not everyone has money to leave either.

As someone from the midwest in a county that consistently votes blue this logic is completely bullshit

So many of these storms have been unwarned this year. I'm sure gutting the NWS had no effect on our ability to keep people safe.

Fateor42 15 hr ago +25
The midwest has known these storms were coming for days.

I agree. We have had WAY more than normal tornado activity in my area in Indiana this year. The last one we had near us I tracked simply by watching the news out of Chicago. Not paying attention to the weather is personal decision. By the time the sirens go off it's generally too late.

I watch live streams enough over the last year where there aren't warnings, which I think a lot of people don't realize happens. Thought it was worth mentioning.

What are you talking about. In Illinois we knew days in advance for potential violent storms and heavy rain. Sirens were even going off without an active tornado going through and they were set off by NWS

thoughtfractals85 15 hr ago
Respectfully, I'm not talking about Illinois specifically.

Tell everyone you know to follow meteorologist Ryan Hall on youtube. He and his team warn these storms well ahead of the NWS and have live coverage during every major outbreak, winter storm and tropical system. Their nonprofit also goes in with aid in the immediate aftermath of major storms.

Ryan does good work. I also highly recommend Max Velocity. He doesn't use the AI that Ryan does.

No-Bread-1197 16 hr ago +3
Funnily enough, the NWS actually does use yallbot. It mostly summarizes warnings.

No socialism. Too woke.

Icy-Flamingo420 15 hr ago +5
Lol, I slept through it. Multiple large trees down around me or on my neighbors houses.

A fellow storm sleeper I see. I have done the same thing. Sleep like the world didn't matter when storms like this hit. Only to wake up to utter decimation of trees and broken outdoor furniture. Yet, on peaceful nights, I sometimes cannot fall asleep to save myself.

The first time it happened to me was a tornado that ripped through Marietta, Georgia. We woke up to a McDonald's arch laying in the driveway. Didn't hear shit, man.

I wish the wind would topple over the giant oak tree next door because a) it is diseased and constantly dropping branches on my lawn and b) I have no trees on my property but I have to clean up that c*** every year...... leaves.....but only on their house.

Maybe the FEMA guy will teleport to a near by Waffle House

chedstrom 15 hr ago +3
I think there is one in Milwaukee so that limits his access. He is better off teleporting to George Webb which has more locations. /s

Tornadoes all around me yesterday- Lena 45 miles to my west, Rockton 4 miles to my north and Roscoe about 5 miles NE of me. 3 sirens went off in a couple of hours. Rock River flooding is awful. What a crazy week. Nice to see the sun today.

Shiplord13 7 hr ago +1
Early warning systems and awareness does help prevent tragedy. If the sirens go off, you should be going to shelter.
