Unlike the last time, Ukraine has plenty of tools to hammer Minsk to make a point.

Why can't we have a world that's just not at war? Why are humans incapable of that?

Most humans don’t want this, the Pope was right in that it’s a handful of narcissistic dictators setting the world on fire

Most normal people aren’t as cruel as these narcissistic shit stains currently in power and wouldn’t abide treating people that way

One of the most depressing things I've never realized and recently learned: the root word for ***infantry*** is *infant*. Think about that. This literally is not a new concept and humans have been doing it for thousands of years. You send your young off to die for the oldest and wealthiest in a given society. You can just replace them by making more babies. And if they're dead in foreign lands (or alive for that matter), they're not around to be a threat to the ruling class. Just mothers, elderly, rich aristocrats and their payroll. And it must be effective at propping up societies, because *we just. Keep. Doing. It.* When the rich wage war, it's the poor youth who die.

Because way back when our little monkey brains were still developing, the guy who could beat his neighbor with a rock and take his food was more likely to pass on his genes. This ensured that the next generation was willing and able as well, and was beneficial from an evolutionary standpoint. It's only very recently in our history that it's been seen as a detriment, and even then, it hasn't been selected against.

Rant_Time_Is_Now 1 day ago +2
That’s a bit accurate of some other animal species. But what makes us unique is that we evolved to communicate complex stories and socialise in complex ways and build alliances and systems for mutual benefit of all. Amazing for natural selection. That is how we grew as a dominant species. The ones that killed their neighbours to eat for a day were generally ostracised and left to fend for themselves. They didn’t naturally select well. But some stuck around. And here we are.

It’s heartbreaking because we could all have enough to be comfortable and thrive. And think of the technological advancements if we all just worked together for the greater good.

It’s human nature sadly. It’s very hard to go against human primal instincts. It’s like saying ‘’don’t reproduce.’’ People will naturally do it. Gorillas and other primates, similarly to humans, fight other groups even to death to expand their territory.

No thanks. If you want to fight the Russians, go enroll as a mercenary.
-84
AntagonisticFetus 1 day ago +36
You all are going to be fighting the Russians in less than a decade. It’s inevitable Europeans need to realize that. Putin can’t stop this war it’s existential for him. If it stops, he loses power. The Baltics will be first, but eventually he’ll try to march to Warsaw
36
BalkanNoBalkan 1 day ago -23
Putin can’t even take Ukraine you think they’ll beat nato/eu members in a war lol
-23
AntagonisticFetus 1 day ago +21
I never said that. I said he will try He absolutely will try and take on Europe. I don’t think Russia will win this war, but I wouldn’t underestimate Russia’s ability to cause chaos. Putin thinks he has a historic right to invade and conquer. I’m almost positive he’s gonna keep going until he’s dead.

If drones keep coming from those countries then he might have to. But your argument was that he attacks random countries to stay in power like the US which is bogus. He stayed in pwoer because he has a >70% approval rating. That's according to Western sources because the Russian ones are 75-80%.
-26
AntagonisticFetus 23 hr ago +3
What do you think happens when all of those veterans come home only to find that their government can’t support them like they promised? History dictates despots get disposed violently.
3
Asleep-Waltz2681 22 hr ago +1
You have a very distorted view on reality if you think that Putin is not supported by his people or anywhere close to being "kicked out". If anything then he might get kicked out and replaced with a far more radical president.
1
AntagonisticFetus 22 hr ago +2
The funny thing about dictators is that they always have the undying support of the people until the people brutally murder the dictator.

Belarusians tend to support Ukraine, say this would be a tough sell. They won't be lining up to die in another country's vanity war, so I think there would be a fairly strong reaction to this. Furthermore, Lukashenka isn't exactly the hero of the masses, last time things got wiggy he needed Russian troops to prop up his govt. I'm not sure that, when mass protests against involvement in the war broke out, the syphilitic gnome in the Kremlin would have enough spare troops to go rescue Mr Potatohead.

Madman_Sean 1 day ago +35
As if anyone asked Belarusian people and government do they agree to it

They'll voice their opinions whether the tiny bald Tsar and Mr Potatohead like it or not.

I mean, it's already been happening. Belarusian citizens are being drafted and Belarus is conducting military exercises and building military infrastructure at the border. This is in the article: > Concerns over Belarus’ role in the war have persisted since 2022, when Russian forces used its territory as a launchpad for the initial invasion. > More recently, analysts have noted continued Russian military activity and infrastructure development in Belarus, including efforts to expand operational capabilities and support drone operations. > “According to intelligence, the construction of roads toward Ukrainian territory and the development of artillery positions are underway in the Belarusian border areas,” [Zelenskyy] said. And this: > In addition, today, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree calling up reserve officers for military service. > In 2026, male Belarusian citizens under the age of 27 who are reserve officers and have not completed their mandatory military service are expected to be called up under a new draft law. > Earlier, a surge in military activity in Belarus raised concerns, with mass convocations of reservists and intensified drills near the Ukrainian border. > Since mid-February 2026, Belarusian authorities have called up reserves for sudden military exercises, causing alarm among local communities.
16
pafagaukurinn 14 hr ago +1
These exercises for reserve officers happen regularly every year. But you'll forget by the next year anyway.
1
tvtowers 1 day ago -19
Do I actually have to explain the difference between military exercises and actual mobilization? And Belarus have had mandatory military training in place forever, this is not new. You can stop hyperventilating.
-19
Leptine 1 day ago +15
Friend, Russia have invaded Ukrained with the excuse of "This is a military training" before. Ukraine and other people are justifiably wary of any military movement on its border.
15
tvtowers 1 day ago -5
I'm not saying it's impossible for Belarus to enter the war, what I'm saying is that IF that happens you're probably going to see protests in the streets. And Lukashenka already used up his nine lives, if Putin can't rescue him he'll be Ceausescu Part II
-5
Leptine 1 day ago +6
I honestly wish I could believe what you're saying is true, but nowadays the power inbalance between ditatorial powers and the population is abysmal. Russias are extremely good at enforcing other nations under its wing to do their bidding regardless of what the locals think.
6
tvtowers 1 day ago -2
Russian troops were needed when Lukashenka lost the election but wouldn't step down. Does Russia have the manpower to spare to go rescue him again now,? Would the deflection of troops from attacking Ukraine to occupying Belarus not harm the efforts against Ukraine? And I'll point out that Russia has exactly been trying to force Ukraine to submit for over 15 years now, you can't treat wolves like sheep and idiot putin forgot that.

Let's be clear though it was close to a miracle that we managed to beat Orbán at his own game, and it still took 16 years. Everything was rigged in his favor. Autocracy isn't a yes or no thing.

Threats of second invasion from the Belarus occur every year. Since Trump took the office the US has removed a number of sanctions from Belarus. It would be really dumb move to spoil such relationship. Lukashenko sits on the throne for a long time and doubt he is suddenly dumb enough to jump into the war for second time.

BlueDolphins28 1 day ago +3
And what will they even do? There is no way they are prepared enough to take lands and Ukraine has got much more powerful now especially with drones and AI tech.
3
gartenzweagxl 1 day ago +1
well, it would drastically lengthen the frontline and lets russia come closer to many parts of ukrainian main land with logistic roads, that aren't completely blown up and bombed away already all of that in time for summer, which is the best season to try and attack ukraine, considering that the biggest mud fields are gone and the country is mostly flat

Perhaps, but with the fractures in NATO and Russias success in nuclear threats they might see this as the optimal time to try it.
