Were Scott and Fraser being held hostage to film that introduction?

And most importantly, why does Brendan Fraser sound like Buffalo Bill nowadays?

The over the top deep criticism of this movie in the comments is just... weird.
Feels like there is a movement about a movie that's not even out yet.

1) Kerry Condon is a treasure, and not being included with Scott and Fraser (no shade on those two greats intended) in the promotion is a shame (I know, contracts, yada yada)
2) Please let this finally convince the film industry that there is no more new and interesting WW2 content left to be mined. Move on to other stories (so much potential in WW1 that they could work with if they want a similar vibe).

This looks like something out of SNL. The fight scenes look so out of place in the middle of discussions / shouting matches about whether it's gonna rain or not. I hope Brendan got paid handsomely.

Well, they know how to capture my attention because that's a war story I never thought I'd see. I'm assuming it's based on true events, in which case I hope they stick to reality and don't Hollywoodize it.

The movie appears to focus on the window in which Eisenhower either had to greenlight D-Day's launch or postpone it. Which hinged a lot at the time on weather reports. The movie appears focused on this angle, which at the time was an incredibly tense period of uncertainty (3 days is what the movie blurbs say, but in books you might see people emphasize that Eisenhower made this decision on the spot in a very narrow 17 hour window). That's real. How well the movie will present it idk, but I've never seen a big budget film not Hollywoodize things, even when being 'mostly' accurate.

Eisenhower literally looks like an older Fraser to me.
Fraser is a huskier than Ike but overall without going into prosthetics or Christian Bale levels of body transformation I'm not sure if there is another actor that fits Ike's appearance and age currently.
Fraser is about 3-4 years older than Ike was on D-Day so it's about as close as a match as you can get.

Maybe I’ll learn something from watching this movie but it seems like nothing too interesting.
The stakes aren’t accurate since the war was already won for the allies by the time D-day took place. Main reason for D-day was so communism/Stalin didn’t take over all of Europe. Hope they include that reasoning but makes sense for the trailer.
Also it feels like they are using D-day as an attention grabber when the movie is about weather and planning. Idk it could be really interesting but I’m leaning towards it not being great.

Probably undersells the moment by overemphasizing what is obvious in hindsight.
The movie is focused on the window of launching Operation Overlord, an utterly massive logistical and intelligence operation that Eisenhower and others were staking their careers on pulling off, all amid the weight of millions of lives, the liberation of occupied territories from Nazi Germany, and the 'fate of the world' in the balance.
If there's a problem, it's that I feel like real world awareness heavily undercuts the tension of the film. We all know that D-Day happened. It's one of the major world events literally everyone knows happened! So a movie centering itself on the historically real highly tense hours in which a weather report and a yes/no decision decided the course of history, it just seems... IDK. It seems self-defeating to center that movie on a decision we all know was made. Ike: Countdown to D-Day is a similar movie but focuses specifically on Eisenhower. It's pretty 'meh' overall. It does include tensions about the weather reports but it pays a lot more mind generally to Eisenhower managing the personalities of men like Montegomery and Patton, and weighing the cost of initially high estimates of paratrooper casualties (which ended up being wildly inaccurate, the airborne took nowhere close to the losses analysts initially predicted). But at least that touches into areas people are not as aware of as June 6th itself, you know? Cutting out personal character battles, or touching on something that isn't widely know (airborne casualty estimates before D-Day were as high as 70% losses) to focus on 'do we invade today or not' seems really undercut by us all knowing the ending rather overtly going in :/
Beyond that the trailer reminds me of the Nuremberg trailer. Nuremberg wasn't a bad movie, but the trailer seemed to not know what kind of movie it was pitching, and then the movie didn't really know what kind of movie it was trying to be about. This seems exactly the same to me. What exactly is this movie supposed to be about? It seems like it isn't sure if its supposed to be actiony, dramatic, a character study or idk what. Also just feels like we're fishing the bottom of the barrel here for WWII content XD
