>A group of residents of a city in central Cuba took to the streets early Saturday and partially destroyed the local headquarters of the ruling communist party. Authorities said that five people were arrested in a demonstration that was linked to the island’s energy supply issues and access to food.
Imagine if we tried to partially destroy police or ice headquarters here in the US lol. Americans would be dead, not arrested

That's unfair. You don't have to partially destroy anything for Americans to die at the hands of ICE.

Pretty sure police shot a protestor dead when they tried to storm a door.

Rioter not protestor

A footnote I found interesting - there are photos of a few protestors that took place in this action, during it. They're wielding flares.
Now, I've been all over Cuba many times. It's often hard to source simple consumer items... Bins... Bin bags... Toilet paper... That basic.
One does wonder where these protestors sourced flares. Not to jump to conclusions or put on a conspiracy theorist hat but... There was a very recently uncovered plot involving what seemed like armed foreign intelligence actors carrying out subterfuge on a US registered boat.
I cannot imagine flares are a) easy to come by in Cuba, and b) items regular Cubans would spend the little money they have on.

Those are not flares, just regular ass torches.

I am too, frankly, but maybe just because it’s different than the response we’re conditioned to expect domestically

5 people and the US press starts swarming around the story like flies to dung, sniffing for the next opportunity to justify American backed regime change.

Five people were arrested during a protest! Aren't you so angry over this unprecedented act of oppression that you want to die for the glory of the our glorious leader?

5 people extra emboldened due to the forced starvation of resources on the island due to the US.
Media will queue up the consent manufacturing videos next about how excited the expats are to cause maximum suffering to their former home.

Getting more coverage than the constant protests in the USA. Curious.

Imagine if Canada invaded us if 5 people got arrested at a protest in Wichita.

“Imagines” don’t mean a lot without the kinetic power to back any of their words.
Canada couldn’t invade the US, the US could invade Cuba, those differences fundamentally make your comparison pointless

>*Díaz-Canel said that no petroleum shipments have arrived in Cuba in the past three months, and blamed a* [*U.S. energy blockade*](https://apnews.com/article/oil-cuba-tariffs-trump-mexico-30f1d74a766fee23001684a5bb8079d9) *for that. He said that the island is running on a mixture of natural gas, solar power and thermoelectric plants.*
Sums up what the protesters were angry about--it isn't clear whether they targeted the US also in their action.

Bro this is so lazy. The US has outsourced so much of their industry that they don't even manufacture their own consent anymore.

We should send Rubio and the other Republican Cubans there to straighten things out.
