You think the oligarchs keep the assets in Russia? Heck no, they keep most of it in offshore accounts etc so it can’t be taken away from them. Then they can say “but I am a poor person, look I don’t have much, but I can give a small portion from my currently visible assets.”

It isn't working as well as they would hope. You can spin any fairytale you want but at the end of the day a person goes for groceries and there is no covering this particular unpleasantness. Then this person goes for a walk and sees his favourite local cafe closing down, he goes to the shopping mall and sees 'rent' placeholders instead of shops, the list goes on. They can (and do) lie 24/7 but reality have this strange habit of not confirming to whatever bullshit is being broadcasted. Also they already raised taxes and continue to scrape the barrel for whatever money they can. After all, the shriveled-d***-in-charge (that's his official title) only cares about the war

The only reason Putin still sits on his chair is because the effects of the war aren't felt by the average Russian the soldiers fighting aren't conscripts relying instead on "volunteers" from impoverished regions.  The sanctions only meant that Western Brands were replaced by Chinese ones and oil remain sold through intermediary countries like India while the rubble remained stable through capital controls and interest rates as long life goes on for the common people they won't rebel.

He's not actually asking, he's creating internal propaganda showing oligarchs sacrificing for the good of the people so they feel more united in the suffering caused by their poor economy. In actuality if we wanted the funds of these oligarchs and they resisted, he would just kill their families and throw them out a window.
