Putin says Russia will deploy new Sarmat nuclear missile this year
As the year draws to a close, Russia is gearing up for the deployment of its groundbreaking Sarmat nuclear missile. President Putin has heralded it as the most formidable missile globally, engineered to hit targets located thousands of miles away. The long-anticipated rollout, after a series of delays, symbolizes a significant boost to Russia's nuclear strategy and influence.

He should spend that money on making Russian people's lives better. Same goes for Kim Yong-Un. The vast wealth of these kleptocrats could be put to better use by making their own people's lives better. They are greedy bastards though. Hell is too good for them.

You would ask whether he values his own position in the world for the remainder of his life far more than the wealth of the people of Russia. With the natural resources in the possession of Russia, that country could've been far more developed by now. Putin and all of those oligarchs wasted Russia's money on their individual lives. They could have profitted way more by investing it in the people of Russia instead of huge mansions and personal yachts. Which would be feasable for them still looking at what kind of power investments in Russia could've brought them. Short term thinking for sure.

They must feel some real pressure internally. This reeks of trying hard to portray strength.

It’s called panic
31
count023 May 13, 2026 +3
It's called "I might have to pull troops put of the far east to keep the war going and I don't want China to get any ideas"
3
dimwalker May 13, 2026 +2
China can protect russia's far east for him as they already protecting parts of Siberia.
2
Extension-Toe-7027 May 13, 2026 +1
Protecting like they are protecting the south china sea.

I really wonder how much charade is involved in Putins statements. If I recall bunch of their tests have failed and there's been only limited success. Then if you think about rampart corruption these programs has to be extremely expensive when budget has to account management getting a slice on every level. Then when you wonder about the state of government budget its difficult to see how they would put much effort on new missle programs. No one is gonna test these claims. No-one is going to invade Russia and it being nuclear power might not even be the biggest reason. Who statement might be just a joke and no-one will ever know.

delinquentfatcat May 13, 2026
Yes, though realistically a weapons update was probably in their pipeline for years. The sad part is that nothing in their pipeline will be good for Russians or for humanity.

2600sysop May 12, 2026 +118
*sure* they will.

ConsiderationAny7855 May 13, 2026 +1
deployment doesnt mean actually firing the weapon at anyone, it just means a nuclear bomb will be added to their arsenal ready to use at any moment on the battlefield.. still not very good

Ice_Milk May 12, 2026 +60
Honestly, between Putin showing off Sarmat and Kim Jong-un waving his nukes around the other day, it feels less like "global security" and more like two insecure guys comparing toys in a very expensive midlife crisis.

No_Patience_6801 May 13, 2026 +36
If Putin is mid-life that means I’m still a spring chicken. He’s 73 ☠️

Little-Airport-8673 May 13, 2026 +5
More like end life crisis

I_Stay_Home May 13, 2026 +3
Then you have Trump itching to cross launching one off of his bucket list.
3
ConsiderationAny7855 May 13, 2026 +1
im confused about this, didnt trump say that no one should ever use a nuclear bomb ever?

"Missile" measuring contest. Comes with being insecure about one's grip on authority.
1
Winnipeg-Bear May 13, 2026 +10
Let me guess. It’s a 1970’s nuke, being pulled along on a string by a man called Sarmat
10
Left-Night-1125 May 13, 2026 +1
No its a modern state of the art Russian build nuke, it lifting of is a feature its lacking though.
1
phatbody May 13, 2026 +9
It can reach anywhere in the galaxy in 37 seconds.
9
Necessary_Apple_5567 May 13, 2026 +7
He says this first time in 2022, then in 2024, then in 2025 and now in 2026 they going to deploy sarmat again. Probably.
7
ConsiderationAny7855 May 13, 2026 +1
no they didnt say they were going to deploy any nuclear weapons in any of those previous years.. they threaten to FIRE them at a country. this time is very different because this bomb has failed testing a lot but is apparently finally working, and they have set a deadline for when they are going to deploy it on the battlefield
1
Necessary_Apple_5567 May 13, 2026 +1
He literally says exactly the same since 2022. The first time Sarmat supposed to be deployed is 2018.

AlexRescueDotCom May 12, 2026 +23
I don't know Mr. Putin, I think you are in a crossroads now. I think you can decide for yourself if you want to be remembered as Hitler, or you want to be remembered as the guy that killed Hitler.
23
Joice_Craglarg May 13, 2026 +3
HAH Yeah buddy, I don't think that line of rhetoric means a mouse's fart to Putin.
3
NoSubstance5286 May 13, 2026 -19
Hitler was dead long before Putin was born.
-19
EVpeace May 13, 2026 +21
He's referencing the fact that Hitler killed himself and is therefore "the guy that killed Hitler."

super__hoser May 13, 2026 +12
Oh look, more limp d*** sabre rattling to distract from his collapsing economy, failure in Ukraine and EMBARASSING parade last weekend.
12
Modnir-Namron May 12, 2026 +16
Two things come to my mind: Will Putin live to see their deployment and will Ukraine find the launchers. Bless Ukraine and the exact opposite to to Trump/Vance and Putin.

Russia like to claim a lot that turned into vapor.
3

After doing it for 4 years, he should have realized Ukraine is not scared of a nuclear assault.
3
IrishAir1990 May 13, 2026 +3
Has he asked Zelensky if it's OK yet? Need the letter of permission before I believe it
3
Outside-Fact-1009 May 13, 2026 +3
He can deploy it up his scared ass. Nobody gives a f*** about Botox goblin's big rocket deployment.

The tiny bald Tsar is merely compensating for the many cruel jokes played upon him by Mother Nature.
7
Joice_Craglarg May 13, 2026 +5
I think he probably won't, but I wouldn't underestimate a cornered coward with nothing to lose. If death shows up at his door, he really might do something drastic.

Tenner says it doesn’t work.

Oh sure. The country waging war with equipment that should have been decommissioned in 1993 wants us to believe they have the budget for this? Maybe they did at one point but there's nothing left after everyone took their cut.
2
Emotional_Situation7 May 13, 2026 +2
It’s a scare tactic, and it’s not working, Putin likes to play mind tricks by lying, that there going to unleash this and that, and they will nuke this and that, in reality, Russia is fucked, there economy is fucked, there male population is fucked, well puti you’re scare tactics do not work anymore, if this war doesn’t end soon, you’re going to end up being assassinated by your own people
2
ConsiderationAny7855 May 13, 2026 +1
isnt that just more reason to use it?

Shoot it into the ocean like NK!

Adept-Donut-4229 May 13, 2026 +1
Just that one, tho.
1
Bearded_Hobbit May 13, 2026 +1
Cool, deploy it then. Using it once is a death sentence for the whole world, we know you aren't going to use it.

In reality it's gonna be a rusted MiG 25 filled with graphite waste from a RBMK reactor guided by a state of the art AI called Dmitry Z from Murmansk oblast.
1
Psychostickusername May 13, 2026 +1
Are they deploying it in a museum or on the bottom of the sea?
1
Old_Soc May 13, 2026 +1
Has it hit that time of the month again where he needs to say the word nuclear so people will pay attention to him?

1
olderlifter99 May 13, 2026 +1
Given its 2026 and it still takes Russia years to get a successful launch on this missile, makes me wonder if all those missiles fron the 80s & 90s, that makes up the bulk of their stockpile, ever worked.

Eventually, there will be war between nuclear powers. Maybe the asteroid will beat them to it.

we can deflect asteroids, not nukes
